Deleting stories

Don't know if this is the right place for this kind of questions, but I will try. A few years ago I published the beginning of a series of stories on Literotica (they are the only published stories on my profile). I never continued the series because comments rightfully suggested my English was quite poor and readers had difficulties reading them. But actually I think that was a nice overall story, if I could continue it. Now that I want to continue the Dare Ring series, I actually want to delete the previous attempts and rewrite them, so that they are easier to follow and more in line with the next chapters I have in mind (that, hopefully, would have better style). My problem is that I found no way to actually delete the stories I've published, so, is there a way to do that? Also, do you know any means I could procure myself a benevolent English native speaker just to have my rewritten versions and new chapters proofread? My English is quite better than it was in 2024, but still literary English is not my cup of tea.

The FAQ/help here is often hard to navigate. But if you go to Help, and look under Publishing, you'll find the last link is
How do I remove a work that I’ve published on Literotica?

Your English is very good. There's almost no sign, from what you just wrote, that you are not a native speaker. Don't worry too much about that.
Thank you so much! I think that despite your praises, I will still delete the series in its current form, because I'm not quite so happy with it.

By the way, deleting a story is like editing one: it's very low priority for the site administration. Expect to wait a month or more before anything happens.

In my humble opinion, unless there's a real good reason to remove something, you shouldn't. Certainly put/add a footnote of it being depreciated or has been superseded by a better rewrite; Or if there was an option in Literotica to 'archive' something (putting it in a separate tab where it's still available but a lot of people probably wouldn't look at).

I remember helping someone translate their story/fanfiction from gargoyles some... 25 years ago at least. A lot of it is grammar adjustments to make something that feels clunky and semi-broken to flowing correctly.

Feature request

A user should be able to automatically delete their story/poem/audio/etc from your server and have it take effect immediately. Ditto for deleting their account and everything associated with it.

Reason

Your guidelines state the author owns their work, and that implies the right to delete their work from your site at will immediately, should they choose to do so.

It makes no logical sense for a user having to request that their work/account be deleted from your server. The deletion of a author's personal property (their work) from your server should be immediate and not take months and/or require your permission to do so.

If you don't plan to implement this feature, the least you can do is provide a sentence in your guidelines stating that you have the sole authority when it comes to deleting posted works and/or a user's account

I can imagine a person making a story a little too autobiographical and finding themselves doxxed or fearing they will be and wanting their stuff gone gone gone. The wayback machine may thwart you there however. And once in a while someone finds Jesus. I really need to talk to the team responsible for hiding him. Really lying down on the job.

There was a speech i listened to a while back of the guy who manages the textfiles.com site which is a archive of old stuff, like CD's batched together from BBS sites, shareware games, font discs, etc. Pretty sure it was That awesome time i was sued for two billion dollars (though it may be another of his speeches). He talked about not only how not only he got into archiving and putting it up for free, but getting emails of 'dude can you delete my story of xxx' and how it was basically hate erotica of someone hating on their friend, and he is just 'it's archived dude. sucks you wrote it and posted it'.

Maybe someone does put a little too much information in a story, but there's a LOT to dig through, way too much textual information. All of the information should be considered fictional, even if it were somehow true you realize how often people move? Before you find a permanent residence i found a lot of people moved every 2-3 years. Tracking that data to somehow figure out who or what seems highly unlikely.

And even if you had something useful like an AI dig through it, guess what they hallucinate a lot. They are more likely to get it wrong than get it right.
