You are living proof that first statement is false. It's nice to think racism has ever come anywhere near dying, but the cold hard truth is it never has.

It's the backlash against Obama that's set us back, but that probably had to happen to open some well-intentioned but naive white people's eyes to how much racism there still is out there. We can expect the same when a woman is elected president - I fully expect four years of jokes about a nuclear holocaust every month - but hey, sunlight is the best disinfectant.
