They want to freeze them to death this winter...

;) ;)

WASHINGTON (AP) - Mary Power is 92 and worried about surviving another frigid New England winter. Deep cuts in federal home heating assistance benefits mean she probably can't afford enough heating oil to stay warm.

She lives in a drafty trailer in Boston's West Roxbury neighborhood and gets by on $11,148 a year in pension and Social Security benefits. Her heating aid help this year will drop from $1,035 to $685. With rising heating oil prices, it probably will cost her more than $3,000 for enough oil to keep warm unless she turns her thermostat down to 60 degrees, as she plans.

"I will just have to crawl into bed with the covers over me and stay there," said Power, a widow who worked as a cashier and waitress until she was 80. "I will do what I have to do."

Thousands of poor people across the Northeast are bracing for a difficult winter with substantially less home heating aid coming from the federal government.

Where the hell's the State Government???

Lady, we keep our home at 64°

"Why are you here?"

"To get some money."

"What kind of money?"

"Obama money."

"Where's it coming from?

"Obama."

"And where did Obama get it?"

"I don't know... his stash, I don't know. I don't know where he got it from, but he's givin' it t'us to help us. We love him. That's why we voted for him... Obama! Obama!"

“I’m just going to be honest with you. There’s not much we can do next week or two weeks from now... If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know [laughingly], you might want to think about a trade-in.”

When I was asked earlier about, uh, the issue of coal. Uhhh, y'know, under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket....
We would put a cap-and-trade system in place, eh, that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there. So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're gonna be charged a huge sum for all that, uh, greenhouse gas that's being emitted.

"How about just tracking down every single person who said drill baby drill and putting them all in prison. Why don’t we do that?"
Alan Grayson

Maybe she should check into a hospital and get some free health care...

Are you a Hawaiian Kenyan out of Chicago?

You apparently have never been in a clinic. They keep those places heaters set on Arctic. It keeps the old people from reporting in sick.

*chuckle*

That's the joke. They're never open...

Same management team as the USPS more or less. ;) ;)

Maybe they just need a clothing drive...

Maybe, they're simply terrified of the Salvation Army.

Maybe they made it surrender and go to KANSAS to pull wagons...

It says she lives in a drafty trailer. Maybe if she fixed the drafts, she'd get by on a lot less heating oil.

It's funny how those who are so keen on self-reliance are so quick to blame the President for those who lack it.

Funny, he provided credits for her to winterize...

... while at the same time doing everything he can to stop the free flow of energy.

Where is her local community to notice? When you pack Democrats together like rats, do they just walk over the dying, bleeding child in the street with a let government take care of it kinda attitude?

It seems so. It's easier to blame others, as we see in your post. Don't blame Obama!

It's not his fault!

He's "saving the earth" and causing the ocean levels to fall...

:(

A massive campaign must be launched to restore a high-quality environment in North America and to de-develop the United States...,
John P. Holdren
White House Office of Science and Technology Director

Obama has never been overly modest about his own powers. [during his campaign], he declared that history will mark his ascent to the presidency as the moment when “our planet began to heal” and “the rise of the oceans began to slow.”
When you anoint yourself King Canute, you mustn’t be surprised when your subjects expect you to command the tides.

Maybe there is a program to fix her drafts. There is a local non-profit here that helps old folks with house repairs, using grant money they get from the city that is doled out by the feds.

I hooked an old guy up with them back in '02 when his water line corroded and he only had a trickle. They got him a new line in about 2 weeks, which is smoking fast fro a program like that.

Some quality time spent with cans of spray foam and tubes of caulk help kill off the drafts.

Then she'll only ave to worry about the next tornado carrying the whole thing out to sea.

You see the political answer...

MORE MONEY, MORE TAXES, NO MORE SELF-RELIANCE, NO MORE NEIGHBORS!

Meanwhile, I know a construction guy who goes on 2 or 3 mission trips per year to help out poor folks and fix their houses. He puts the money from his side work into funding his trips. That's how he spends his vacations.

And he never Tebows. He just quietly goes about God's business.

Yep, I talk all the time about the missionaries.

We do the soup kitchen and donations and when our neighbors need help, we don't ask why or how much, we just give everything we can that is of pertinent value.

I made my student give to Toys for Tots...

He looked kinda pale when I started DI-screaming about dissing my Marine Corp.

:D :D :D

I respect those people and think they are a good example.

Charity begins at home, but there are those who are less fortunate who appreciate what you do for them.

And then there are a few who expect it, and they can . . . hurry up and wait.

I'll tell you what though...

Charity makes you cynical. Those people in the soup kitchen are not thankful.

Mostly they complain and expect better.

Swear to Gaia!

God made old people frail and weak so that Nature,in its never ending cycle of Evil, could kill them off and make room for more productive members of the chain of food.

Humans, by their supposed good works are circumventing the works of God and thereby committing even greater Evil.

You've been reading too much Jack London.

I must be the only human alive who enjoys the hunt for cheap and simple substitutes for complex and expensive things.

You'd be amazed at how much heat a 60 watt light bulb produces. Place your paw over the top of a lampshade and feel the heat! One bulb will heat one average size room.

And yet it's a tragedy of the greatest import should we cut down an old tree...

... Gaia is confusing.

They should run out and buy her a case of 100Ws before the first of the year!!!

Every year I post my favorite Christmas story, about the homeless family on the street.
