Considering that Clinton won by over 4 million votes in California alone and won the nationwide popular vote by just under 3 million, I'm not sure why people keep mentioning the popular vote. Trump won 30 states to Clinton's 20 states. The record number of states won for the loser of a presidential election was 27, i.e. Gerald Ford in 1976.
