geee thanks... :(
I actually like this stuff as the other brands tend to taste like licking a lawn mower.

Psssssssssssssssst .... now don't tell anyone, but I actually grow my own vegetables ... all organically. I was raised on a totally self-sufficient farm for the first 12 years of my life, so it kind of takes me back to my childhood.

Now, hush, don't tell anyone. The might start thinking I'm human.

*chuckles*

What do you grow?

I think it's wonderful.

I grew up on a farm too with no brothers....all wood heat so I had my own axe and chainsaw...
we grew our garden, raised our own animals so I always knew who I was eating
my dad thinks I've gotten soft since I moved out to go to college & then moved south

A fairly wide array ... all the cabbage family, legumes, all the root family, and of course, me being Irish, potatoes.

The last couple of years I've branched out, if you'll pardon the pun, and I've concentrated on growing Dahlia's to exhibition standard.

Why? I don't know. I just like beautiful things, I guess.

well I try not to call hazmat before cooking even tho he tells me to wrn them ahead of time...:eek::(

That's not what I was talking about. Good nutrition is a major component of good health. Any protein or vegetable drinks have food additives to increase their shelf life. Sure, the FDA says it's safe, but we know that a lot of things that were once considered safe and we know now they aren't.

Dahlias are beautiful. I can't think of a root vegetable that I don't like. And nothing beats a good baked potato.

Yup, I can see where he's coming from, and agree with him to an extent.

As much as I live on this box of microchips and wires, I do sometimes hark back to when it didn't exist. It tends to tempt a person into being very idle.

We have much in common there DGO.

One of my favourite things to do is just pull a carrot from the ground, wash in water taken from the spring and just relish it's natural sweetness.

Do you grow any Veg yourself?

No, I live in an apartment with no outdoor space. As a child we had a garden and even when I was grown, I'd help my grandmother with hers. I've always preferred vegetables to fruits. To me their flavor is more consistent. I agree with you about the carrots. I roast a lot of my vegetables and that brings out their natural sweetness too.

Yup, I agree with everything you've said, DGO and would only add that I feel freezing any vegetable apart from a Parsnip kills it's flavour.

Now, let's have a rampant affair. If you behave, I may just allow you to eat some vegetables.

I agree, but frozen is better than canned. Our ancestors had to go out a gather food daily. Before refrigeration, a visit to the grocer was a daily event.

I don't think we need to have an affair.....

Martha might get jealous if you did have an affair with him :D
