Discussion Thread - 8th Annual Literotica Reader's Choice Awards

"I see five or six authors with 0-2 posts in the top three spots of the last few themed contests. What happened there?"

Where did I post that vote clubbing here was necessarily AH based? (It took me the longest time to figure out even what AH stood for.)

Where did I say anything about the AH? Those post counts are for the entire forum. If they're not getting boosts from the forum, then why are they winning contests if there's a conspiracy? Are you suggesting there's some sort of underground headquarters somewhere for the Vast Literotica Conspiracy where all the planning and plotting takes place?

The voting system is flawed - that's the price you pay for anonymous voting. It comes with the territory. Everybody knows about it. Nobody really likes it much. In the end, everyone pretty much gets dumped on equally by the bad side of it.

If everyone will excuse me, I'm going to go buy up some stock in aluminum foil. It looks like demand is rising.

If I post here, does that automatically mean I get a free critique of my nomination and my posts in the AH? Only kidding, who gives a shit.

I'm quite embarrassed to be nom'd in the sci-fi category - this should be saved for stories that create a unique world and unique characters, and I'm honest enough to admit I haven't.

Someone earlier said they would like a panel of expert writers to judge. I don't. I like the fact that the reader picks. Why? They are the one who chose to read a story out of the hundreds posted daily, and they will say if they found what they are looking for, or not, by voting, pming, emailing or doing nothing :D

When it comes to voting, I tend to prefer stories that take my breath away or create an image in my brain that remains for a while [fuck some grammatical flaws] than a perfectly rendered, perfectly boring account. I've got a lot to read!

Good luck everyone! :rose:

Yes, definately vote for Ronnie W

Redhead wrote suggesting a vote for Ronnie W: I wholly agree and did vote for him and suggest others might like to too.

Oily wrote about someone:…Before you start talking out of your ass again, try writing a story and having it posted on lit. Until then, you're just a big-mouthed tourist with the wrong guide book for the country you're in.

I must say ‘oily’ that this is a pretty harsh criticism of someone who is making a comment on a thread that invites comments from readers on the entries in a “Readers Choice” contest. Maybe he/she’s not a REAL reader. Why should he be allowed to express his/her opinion anyway? Is he mature enough?

Oily wrote:…those whom REAL readers and voters have praised.

Did you really mean to write this? I knew you were slow but the above demonstrates an elitism, an arrogance that almost sickens, something that goes far beyond mere stupidity. It evokes images of despots everywhere, using phrases like ‘REAL Germans’, or ‘REAL Muslims’ as they go about their ‘cleansing’ acts.

What do we call readers who aren’t REAL? Surreal? Unreal? How do we know if someone is a REAL reader? Reading IQ tests? Do you administer them?

Oily wrote:…You must be well aware that the only reason you get high views and votes is because you cater to one of the largest audiences on Lit.

Huhhhhh? On the one hand I don’t write for REAL readers, on the other I write for the largest reading audience on Lit. Ergo, our main reading audience here at Lit isn’t REAL?

Oily wrote:…Instead, it should be stressed that those who DO vote are the more serious-minded amongst the authors, the more mature…

You’re right, maybe we should restrict the vote to the more serious minded and mature among us – why don’t we just appoint you ‘Chief Returning Officer and Official Enumerator’ and let you rule on whether someone should have the vote or not.

We could call the contest the “2007 Literotica REAL Readers and Very MATURE Authors Annual Awards”. Only those who pass ‘Lord Oily’s’ reading and maturity test eligible to vote.

Playing the macho man for a group of middle aged housewives is fine but c’mon oily, at least make some intelligent arguments.

Did this make any sense to you? Because, honestly- it didn't to me.

And just for the record, Scouries, if votes meant a damn thing, I would have been nominated for something by now. At some point or another I have been at the top of the list for every category I've cared to write in. That just means what I write didn't piss enough of the trolls off to have it trolled too severely.

Just because you can write, doesn't mean you're the best of the best. Considering that I've read Fusionee` pieces before- I'm willing to bet they have you beat to hell and back, just because I know the quality of their work.

But as I haven't (and won't be) read of voted on any of this- let me just say- you're a poor loser, kid. This stuff was covered in kindergarten.

I do not know about all the other nominations, but I cannot believe that my "George" was not nominated for sexiest male character in a story.

I declare this contest over and invalid, all votes void.

End of thread.

That is hard to believe. Because balanced against that whole creepy spying, jerking off on his guest thing, he did make his own soup. And women do like a man who can make his own soup.

I didn't suggest anyone vote for him. That would be pushing votes his way and I don't do that. I said I voted for him and answered why. Don't put words into my mouth please.

Thank you,

Red.

Hello there. I am new here :p and I was wondering if there’s a thread about the awards anywhere around here.

You can find out about the awards here.
