Yep... I did a pencil drawing. Scanned it into Photoshop. made layers and began coloring.

With A cleaner sketch and some more care, I think it could work quite well. I'd also like to buy a tablet, my old one does not work with the current computer.

There is a good story line..but her character was dull.

I bought an Intuous tablet around a month ago. It's sweet and does my iMac justice, but nothing takes away the feeling of good ol' pencil on paper.

As you can see, I didn't really clean up the line work or give much weight variation.
In Photoshop, making paths and stroking them with a tapered brush works quite well. But I had to get on to the next thing. It sure is easy to get sucked into these fun projects!!

I normally do it by hand and then scan it in, because the solids are more precise. But I pencil faster than I ink and sometimes I just scan in the pencil, then adjust the levels to make it "pseudo inked."

I love my Mac artist life, but sometimes I think it makes me more lazier! It's even been a while since I've actually used an actual brush and inkwell instead of pens!

A tight drawing makes the rest easier. For most of my lit work... for speed sake I just pencil.

Though sometimes I like to go "balls out" and just use pen directly with no sketching and see what happens.

I do that sometimes, myself. I try to recycle smaller pieces of paper, the plain backsides of used invitation sheets and the thin cardboard you sometimes get in packaged clothing with straight-up pen drawings. Haven't really done that lately, though. I need to kick myself off this computer soon and sit my ass to table!
