Oh, you are quite right! (though, to be fair, Jack is dangled form manacles and smacked around fairly regularly)

So, years ago, I played Shadowrun with some friends, and the basic logic of that show really informed my gameplay.
When anything seems to be going wrong in a world that seems determined to kill you, draw your weapon. This isn't always the best idea, but its a damn good default position.
