Don't Make It Weird, Gets Weird

Here's another writing prompt disguised as a common phrase: Don't make it weird.

Much like "at least things can't get worse," followed by things, in fact, getting worse; I imagine that as soon as someone says, "Don't make it weird," things go sideways for that character in some way.

What story ideas can you think of someone or something (or even circumstances) "making it weird" that people would actually want to read?

"Don't make it weird," I told my sister as she held the ladder I was climbing to change the light bulb.

I suppose I was lucky this particular bulb hadn't burned out in at least five years. The house had been renovated in the 70s by a competent but eccentric family. There was a half a staircase between the living room and the upstairs and the ceiling was very high right here, so the only place to put the ladder that could reach this bulb was in a landing on the staircase. The ladder was the kind with fold-out steps but there wasn't room to unfold them here, so my sister was standing under the ladder to hold it in place while I climbed it. My crotch was directly in front of her face. To make matters worse, I realized after I got up there that I was just wearing shorts, putting my bare knees and baggy shorts right in front of her face. Fixing the air conditioning was next on the list.

I expected her to retort with "ew," but the ladder shifted and she grunted. I looked down to see her shifting her feet in the small space. She was basically right beneath me, the way the ladder was leaning, and I had a great view of her cleavage all the way down her tank top. She had dressed for the lack of air conditioning too.

And then it got weird.
