Lisa Cartman

After a short nap, Lisa woke to the sound of her alarm clock going berserk. It was almost midnight and time for her to get ready for work. It was a good thing she had thought to bring a pressed uniform, the sage would not have been happy if you had turned up for her shift looking anything less than perfect. It was a real grouch when it came to prompt professional behavior amongst his officers.

Her becoming a police officer was not her mothers idea of a good career move, but it was a job she found personally satisfying, and at times, even exciting. She fastened her hat over her hair, straightened her skirt, and headed for the door. She was up for promotion soon, something she had worked had for, going from general petrol, to fraud, and it was a field she hoped to excel in. Forensic science was her major in college, and fraud was a little out of league in some areas, but she learned fast and was sure she would be out there busting the best of them in no time.

Throwing a sheet over the paintings as an after thought, she picked up her purse and headed out the door. Another night patrolling he streets catching the bad guys was just beginning.

I laughed at Colin's statement. "Colin, you are, as always, a wonder. I simply do not know what we would do without you. But lets not get cocky. We have not been caught...yet and as long as we dont get the 'cant get caught attitude' we should be able to avoid that senerio."

Looking over to Eve, I lifted my brow. "Where to now, sis? Home to bed or out to dance. I am sure Colin would be more than willing to try to keep up with the both of us though I believe we may have to allow him to come in late tomorrow to recover from it."

I gave Colin a side glance and a smile, waiting to get her answer and his reaction.

"Go home? Now?!" I glanced at the slim gold watch that encircled my wrist. "But it’s barely even ten!" Erica laughed at my incredulous expression.

I leaned forward; elbows propped on the table – smile blazing and a definite mischievous gleam in my eye. "Let’s go to that new club that just opened. You know the one I’m talking of don’t you, Erica? It’s the entire top floor of the Shelborne Tower building. I’ve heard rave reviews about it and I’m dying to go!"

"We won’t keep you out too late, Colin. I promise." The index and middle fingers of my right hand slipped across each other in full view of all at the table with that last statement, and I laughed aloud at Colin’s snort of derision.

"C'mon. Can we? Please? It will be so much fun!" I pleaded with sweet coaxing smile.

Once again, 'twould seem, I'm letting the lovely ladies drag me off... Oh, woe is me. I chuckled to myself softly... They do so enjoy their attempts to corrupt my British reserve...

"Certainly, ladies... however, I must insist that we take one of the normal entrances, this time... I still woke up with nightmares about the time they convinced me to rappel into the towertop hotel, Australian Crawl style.

Smiling broadly at the two most beautiful women I'd ever met, I take one on each arm, and we go out into the night, headed for this interesting new night club... Hmm... this makes the third club in that spot this year alone! Maybe we should behave ourselves a bit better with this incarnation of the bar... That is a VERY convenient location for us, being so close to the gallery.

I sighed and said in a mockingly sad voice. "Well, if doing things the normal way is the price for your company tonight I suppose we could pay that."

My eyes twinkled as I added,"However, you owe us one. The next time we ask you to come parachuting with us you wont find an excuse not to do it." I winked at Eve and took Colin's proffered arm as he escorted us out into the night.

"Jump willingly out of a perfectly good aeroplane? Best be after getting me good and damn besotted first!"

Actually, I'd been jumping out of planes with MI6 when these young ladies were playing with their Barbies... but those days, with Her Majesty's Secret Service, were long behind me now... thankfully!
