Downloading Pictures from Printer?

The cable that runs from my computer will no longer connect into my camera. It looks like the prongs (on the camera) somehow got bent and now I can't download pictures.

I have a HP Photosmart C400 All-In-One printer that has a memory card slot.

Is it possible to download pictures from the printer to my computer? If so, can someone please tell me how to go about doing this.

It may be possible.

If it is possible, the memory card will show up as an additional drive on your "My Computer" display. You should be able to just drag and drop from there to whatever folder you want to save the pictures in.

PS: the memory card will also work in a PDA where you can access and download the pictures through your PDA base station.

If nothing else, USB card readers are fairly inexpensive and easy to use.

What happens when you put the card in the printer slot?

Do you have the HP software on your computer? If nothing happens when you put the card in the slot, try opening that software to see if it gives you the option of transferring the photos to your computer.

According to the Basics Guide I found online, it IS possible to transfer the pics to your PC. I couldn't find info for the C400 specifically, but if you go to HP.com, you can enter more specific information under Support and you should be able to find out how to transfer images from the printer to computer, either because they have that specific question, or through the product documentation (user manual).

And if all else fails, you can contact HP. The chat and email support are really fast, in my experience.

I did it, but I really don't know what I did. I clicked on the printer icon in 'My Computer' and a program called Picasa2 opened the memory card from the printer. I downloaded the pictures and then saved them as a Corel photo album.

I didn't even know I had a program called Picasa2.
