Dr Who: The Wheel of Time - OOC Cast Call

Re: Background Storyline

The GrandMage said:
Ummm, okay.

I've got a few questions.
Some of them seem fairly obvious, but I just want to make sure...

1) - Different Dimensions? So, no one would know about each other, right? And, let's say, a sly and cunning Dalek Supreme could trick some poor saps into helping him/it/they/daleks/whatever.

Hi GM I will take each point you have made and do them 1 at the time.

------------

The Wheel of Time is the Creation Tool that carved out the Universe, and can thus destroy it if used by the wrong person. The Wheel of Time is controlled and watched by the Guardian.
Now when the Dimensions are opened, like a tear in the ground when a earthquake opens up the ground here on Earth. No each dimension is different from each other and none of the dimensional cast know of each other. Only the Ancients know of the dimensions but they are gone (or so it is believed except for the Guardian). So you being the Supreme Dalek could use this event to use people to do your dirty work. It is a thread of alliances, backstabbing and of course exploration and discovery.
I will leave this up to you and you will have possibilities to proposition a poor sap into the wiles of doing what the SD wants to be done.

Re: Background Storyline

The GrandMage said:
Ummm, okay.

2) - How are we supposed to learn about what the Wheel of Time can do? I mean, will we somehow know it caused it, have to question the natives? How will we know it has the power to give one supreme control.

This will be a surprise, but I will give it a little air time here.

Once the landings happen, curious indegenous beings will approach the ships, where they land separately from each other. The beings are telepathic, thats their only communication tool, as they have no faces, they will impart the ir stories of the dome and the power that The Wheel of Time unleashes.

There will be one more surprise that will make every character realise that the Wheel of Time is the tool of Creation and supreme control mechanism. What I can say is the Guardian has to be killed....and that will be up to the people to find out how the being can be killed. But it can be. The Ancient is powerful but has a weakeness if it leaves the immediate vicinity of the Wheel of Time.

Re: Background Storyline

The GrandMage said:
Ummm, okay.

3) - If the Wheel disintigrates whatever touches the dome, how are we supposed to get at it? Or is that something we're supposed to figure out for ourselves in the thread? Which is an okay answer, too, but I was wondering if there was a certain way to do it, like have the guardian die or give it up, or only when the moon is full or something.

Now this will be a mystery that needs to be solved. There will be clues in the native villiage....a star gate like dialing system....wont say anymore. It will have a litte puzzle that will need to be solved and the forcefield around the actual dome will be turned off for a time period.

Re: Background Storyline

The GrandMage said:
Ummm, okay.

4) - What exactly do the natives look like? Are they large, shamanistic rat-people who worship the guardian as an indifferent god? Or do they look like giant badgers or something?
----------

The native inhabitance of the planet Genesis can be described in this way;

They are humanoid in stature yet have similar characteristics to the felines of Earth. They have no faces and are telepathic. They have what appears to be 1 sex and 1 transgender shapeshifting sex. Their flesh is red and covered with greyish/brown fur that reaches to the head. They have webbed feet that end in paws, their arms are similar to octupus's but are strong. Slit like eyes protrude from two oval shaped recesses from the sides of the head. This race were once cave-dwellers and are now slowly going through the process of evolutionary change. This can be attributed with the worship of the dome as superstition.

New born are hatched by egg-laying and the transgender takes care of the eggs and trains the hatchlings the art of their brand of civilisation. The Guardian is known in the indegenous lthought language as 'Shebu' (Grand Master) and hence the settlement around the dome. The dome holds a special religious and social observance for this species.

I want to be friends with the badger!

Dang... no badgers? There goes plan A...

Hi Folks,

If anyone has ideas or improvements for the storyline, feel free to add into my summary of each storyline summary above.

I want us to all have a input.

And hoping some more at least 2 to 3 more people join this adventure.

Two weeks to the thread opening.

Cheers

Petar

Okay, I have another question.

Now, you gave me 500 troops, which I am extremely grateful for.

However, I have a question about equipment: What do I get?

Can I have some hoverbouts? Equipment to turn people into robotmen? Big pieces of scenery we can move around behind to hide from Abslom Daak?

....Speaking of Abslom,....He's,...not going to be there, is he?

*moves eye stalk about suspiciously*

First part of the question first, GM.

Its up to you what you want your daleks to have as weapons. Think of what you would like (within reason) such as Photon Laser Phasers etc.

Second part of the question about Abslom Daak. I cannot give that away. But be prepared Supreme Dalek, anything can come through the rift in the dimension.

We could also have a visitation by the one the Dalek's fear, the Xylon (from the Horns of Nimon - 5th Doctor Who Season)

Petar

Photon whotothewhatsis, now?

*waves his extermination gun around menacingly*
I'm not sure exactly what this thing is, but I know what it does, and I'll be damned if we daleks will ever give up our signature weapon!

Except the Special Weapons Dalek, which basically has a huge, canon-like one of these! Bwahahaha!

Maybe we'll stun you, maybe we'll kill you, you never know! Ha-ha ha-ha!

*Eye stalk moves about nervously as he gets his massive amounts of dalek troops on high alert.* Abslom Daak? Ha-ha! Who would fear having the Dalek's second-worst enemy on the same planet as the Doctor, their first? Ha-ha! No problems for the new, improved, experimental Dalek Supreme! Nothing I can't handle... ... ... ...

Ehh, I don't think I'll need to turn anyone into robotmen. Because the Daleks are wiser, now, and I, the new, experimental Dalek Supreme (although hardly experimental now that I'm on my own without the Dalek Prtime or Emporer Dalek keeping tabs on me. Heh, they might even be dead, leaving me supreme authority!) have decided that it's time to change our tactics. No longer can we simply go about the universe, exterminating and making enemies of every race. No! I'm planning for victory, and thinking to the future, about what we'll do when we have control, not just the path to get there!

You might be surprised. Ha-ha! Perhaps we're not all evil anymore? Then again, I do plan to terminate the Doctor, now that he'll stay terminated. Bwahahaha! Your meddling will end, Doctor, and it is I, the Dalek Supreme, who shall end it for you!

Anywho, where was I? Ahh, yes,...The Xylon.
My research is hitting nothing. I've even pulled up the episode guide, nada man. You'll have to tell me more.

At the moment, I'm more worried about the Movellans.I mean, they created an anti-Dalek virus, and their ships are impervious to our blasters. Luckilly for us, their weapons are useless against us but ours can still exterminate them! Ha-ha! Take that, Movellan scum! All high and mighty, just because you're androids. We'll crush you yet! *waves plunger at the sky menacingly*

....Ahh, anyway, Xylons who?

The Xylons

In the 26th century the Daleks encountered the fith Doctor in an untelevised adventure, and then developed a deadly space plague which was meant for other living races.

This episode was entitled "The Fear of the Daleks". This episode was to follow the horns of Nimon but was scrapped as the writers of Dr Who had other plans for the Daleks (as in the revival of Davros in later episodes). A scout ship crash lands on a planet called by the inhabitance Xyloni. The Xyloni are now peaceful planet dwellers having once been a mighty space-faring empire. The Daleks send their scouts to the villiage and bloodshed amounts to numbers of dead by the Daleks. The Zylons in a act of revenge destroy many of the 22 Daleks leaving 4 to survive with a message to the other Daleks. The weapon used is an ancient device left by the Movellians who had visited the Xyloni homeworld.

The Daleks until the 8th Doctor incarnation do not bother the Xylons and the Xylons do not appear in any further episodes, but there is talk of revisiting the Xylon question in 2005 with the new series of Dr Who hitting off.

-------------------

OK, GM give me a list of all the weapons at your Daleks disposal. Also if you wish to start a little back ground on the Daleks for this adventure please do so.

I will create a weapon manifesto and a thread time line as we begin.

Any other guestions people just post here.

Still need cybermen, Time Lords and of course other people to join. Still a week and a bit to go for thread start

12 days to go.

So it is they who released the deadly virus! *dramatic refrain*Umm,.....is there a cure of that, yet?

Ohh, Weapons?

100 Special Weapons Daleks - one extermination cannon each.

300 Standard Warrior/Worker Daleks, 25 Red Daleks, 25 Black Daleks, 10 Gold Daleks, 1 off-colored Dalek, 1 Dalek Supreme - One extermination gun arm, one plunger arm each.

39 Specialty Daleks -
15 - 1 extermination gun/ one blowtorch each.
5 - 1 pincer arm/ one blowtorch each (no extermination guns!)
5 - 1 extermination gun/ 1 sieve attachment each (used to ladle Dalek embryos into waiting casing on the Dalek production line)
5 - 1 extermination gun/ 1 Pyroflame Arm each
5 - 1 extermination gun/ 1 TARDIS Perceptor/Seismic Detector each
3 - 1 extermination gun/ 1 Electrode Unit each
1 - 1 pincer arm/ 1 projectile weapon, resembling gun carbines with an additional firing attachment akin to a standard Dalek gun muzzle.

DALEK UNIT ARM TOTALS
100 extermination cannons
395 extermination guns
362 plunger arms
6 pincer arms
5 sieve attachments
20 cutting torches
5 Pyroflame arms (flamethrowers! w00t!)
5 Tardis Perceptors/Seismic Detectors
3 Electrode Units
1 projectile weapon. (Actual gun! Interesting!)
Approximately 5 extra of each of the weapon arms are located on board each Dalek shuttle, in storage in case one breaks, or to switch out for usage. there are 10 extra plunger arms, and 50 pincer arms per ship. (Never know.)

2 Dalek Flying Trans-Solar Discs. (Hoverbouts)

Ummm, a few saucers, maybe. 3, 4, 2, 17?
Ohh, let's go for 5, if you'll let me. (Bwahahahaha!)

-------------The NEW Dalek Empire----------------------

The Daleks were losing. Hopeless, it seemed, was their great goal to control the universe. The Time Lords had proven ruthless in their decision to exterminate the species, and the Doctor and Abslom Daak had been thwarting them at every turn. Added was the virus that had devastated their forces.

Their previous tactics were no longer useful. They needed something new. And so, an experimental Dalek was created. More independent than most, it was specially breed to combat the problems they were facing.

It was not always a Dalek Supreme, however. It started its career as a Commander Dalek (Black). No stranger to battle, it has lost several times. However, instead of destroying itself for its failure, it has learned. Now as Dalek Supreme, it has its own plans on how the Daleks should be run.

Whith the destruction of Skara, it is now the highest rank of Dalek available. Planning to move ahead with its own way of doing things, it plans to rebuild the Dalek Empire and eventually consume the universe, but with his own brand of rule, and in his own way.

His forces, the last of the Daleks, serve him loyally and without question, as all Daleks should.

What are the plans of this strange new rulers of the Daleks?
Does he advocate a more peaceful form of conquest?
Will he turn the Daleks from their evil ways?

All these questions and more will probably be answered in the thread,...if it lasts long enough.

(The above information is by GM - who plays the role of the Daleks)

2. The Cybermen Weaponry and Troop Information Brief

- 1 scout ship: a lightly armored, yet heavily shielded ship. Very fast with sophisticated sensors. Minimal weaponry. Holds several chambers used to convert humanoids and other sentients into Cybermen.

- 29 Cyberscouts: Smaller than the average Cyberman (about 5' 6" tall) and black in color. Faster than average trooper, with lighter armor. Has a more sophisticated scanner and communication system as well.

- 200 Cybertroops: The average, silver, 6 foot-tall Cyberman. Slow and lumbering, but powerful as a tank. Has thick, fortified armor and the physical strength of twenty men. Each Cyberman is assigned into a squad of 10 troopers, with each squad being led by a Cyber Lieutenant.

- 20 Cyber Lieutenant: Similar in appearance to the normal trooper, except that its intelligence and leadership abilities have been increased.

- 1 Cyber Leader: Larger than the average Cyberman and similar in appearance except for its black audio stalks. The Leader is in charge of the entire operation, coordinating troop movements from the scout ship. It has increased intelligence and has been allowed some emotion, so as to be better at strategic matters.

-weapons: Each Cyberman is armed with a photon rifle, which shoots powerful pulses of concussive energy bullets. The scout ship is armed with two front and rear fusion canons as well as anti-personel laser arrays. It also has in storage a cache of five Cyberbombs, each with the destructive power of ten megatons.

(The above information has been created by MrSand who will be taking on the roles of the Cybermen)

Please note, watch this space, it will be updated as we proceed with loss/gains of each race/character.

Great new empire of the Dalek history and really was enthralling GM. :)

To your first question, that is what the script states that the Xylons released the deadly virus, and then gave it to the Movellians. Interesting concept and it should have been televised but the I suppose the writers thought by reviving the character of Davros they could better work the Daleks.

11 days to thread launch. Still time for others to join.

- Petar

Yeah, well, Davros was brought back to combat the virus, I believe.

Umm,...'Resurrection of the Daleks' with the Fifth Doctor. We busted him out of the space station to come up with a cure...

And then Davros goes on trial, their sun goes supernova, blah blah blah.

Or something. I dunno. I'm not the die-hard Dr. Who fan. I'm more the, "Oh, look, Dr. Who. Hmm." type fan.

10 days to go

Same here I used to be a mad doctor who fan, now with stargate on, i enjoy both shows and a little of star trek in the mix is great.

C'mon there has to be other interested people. Don't be shy. We wont bite....hard that is

:D

JOIN NOW!

The Dalek Supreme commands it!

*Centers eye-stalk on you and waves the extermination gun arm around menacingly*

That's right, you! JOIN!

I'd like to join this thread if I may.

Since you guys need Cybermen, I can fill that role quite nicely. I've been told I have no personality whatsoever, so it should be easy for me to roleplay them.

If you haven't got the Doctor then I am very willing to play him but if you have then I'll play another Time Lord.

Just a note to say that Neale's comp is kinda fried. Network card had a breakdown and so he hasn't been able to get on lately.

Says he will have problem fixed by this weekend though. *smiles*

Welcome MrSand. The role of the Cybermen are yours to do with as you please. This is your troops;

1 scout ship
250 cybermen. You can use them as you wish and assign them as you want to. Please assign your cybermen as you please and I will update them on the character listing.

Welcome again to the thread.

Welcome Angelus.

Unfortunately the Doctor role is taken. But feel free to play another Time Lord.

I will update you as such on the manifests, once I get your character's name.

Welcome again cobber to the thread.

I wish Neale a quick fix and tell him we hope he is back online asap.

And BEL, how is your Doctor's companion character going?

Updated the character's listing manifesto as it stands.

We have another 3 roles open for people to take.

Cyber Confusion

"Excellent..." ~Cyber Leader

This race of Cybermen will be of a more advanced model than the last ones seen in Silver Nemesis. They have the same tough, blaster-proof armor as their predescessors, but have changed the design of their respiratory units so that any ol' flick of gold won't clog it up and kill them. They now have a self-contained breathing unit, which has a maximum of 20-hours worth of oxygen (or whatever gas or liquid the assimilated species within breathes).

Here are my troop deployments and weapons:

- 1 scout ship: a lightly armored, yet heavily shielded ship. Very fast with sophisticated sensors. Minimal weaponry. Holds several chambers used to convert humanoids and other sentients into Cybermen.

- 29 Cyberscouts: Smaller than the average Cyberman (about 5' 6" tall) and black in color. Faster than average trooper, with lighter armor. Has a more sophisticated scanner and communication system as well.

Casting Call

If the casting call is still open, I'd like to take the role of Carter from SGI.. She's cool, smart, goodlooking.. in fact, it could be me!!! As to the Dr Who aprt of town, I was severly deprived as a child and never got to watch him BUT i read the books much later on and the one character I most empathised with was Ace, the bad girl. I can go either way. Lemme know
