As far as the cameras, they don't necessarily watch them -all- night, but there's definitely certain sensors on the doors and around the cells to alert them to anyone walking up-kind of like motion lights but without the light. And Kuznet would probably fast forward the night feed to see if anything of interest happens.

Do you want us to just take turns surprising each other with plot things, or do you want us to talk about it in advance? If you want to plan together, do you want to do it here or in PMs?

Alright! Well, I'll have to save some things to surprise you with, but here's some things I have so far. They're half-baked, so feel free to help me finish baking them. I was thinking about the shadow realm, that we haven't really named yet. I'm imagining that the shadow creatures (which takes forever to type, so maybe we can invent a better name) would be fed by different human emotions. The worst ones would be fed by fear or despair or helplessness--all the bad stuff. But, there would also be some fed by lust or other fun things.

I also thought of a character to introduce. Zander's 18-year old brother, Ben. We can have him meet Zander and Natalie and then almost immediately get "killed" by falling into a portal to the shadow realm. Except, he's not dead. One of the shadow creatures captured him and turned him into a shadow creature, but something went wrong (for the baddie). Now, he has the body and abilities of a shadow creature but the mind of a human. Also, he doesn't know it, but he needs to feed on lust (and gratification) to survive.

I just got this mental image of a human in the body of basically a shadow demon and not knowing how to use it at all. Like, he knocks over a glass with his shadow tentacle spiked tail or it starts caressing someone without him realizing it, and he's just like "Ah! Shit! Sorry! My bad!"

I also though we could make a villain a shadow creature who is trying to take over part of the human world for food. That's all I've got on that so far, though.

I feel like the biggest problem with vanilla-flavored things is that they barely taste like vanilla. They basically just taste like plain. With homemade, you could fix that.

I guess the next step will be exploring the creatures a bit. Are we going to have our heroes fall into the shadow realm at some point? Or just fight them in the real world for a while first?

Why not go both silly and serious? I love your idea of the book having descriptions, and it could have a serious name written there, but Z and N come up with their own silly name to call them sometimes and they HATE it.

Yeah, let's have them get jumped by one of them soon after they leave the shop. I definitely think they need to go into the shadow real at some point. Like, maybe they have to beat a baddie there for it to stay beaten? Otherwise it just comes back, but it's stronger in the shadow realm so they have to prep somehow?
