Dusty Spurs

Cassi pulled her hat off and looked him in the eye properly, "Look Skip, I didn't say you were. I was just saying if you're gonna go play hero, you need to have a plan. Even snooping can get you killed." There was a hint of a smile on her face, mostly because of his tone when responding to her advice. He really was a nice guy in a harsh world and some part of her would hate to see him killed for it. She could tell from looking at him, he wasn't going to let this go. Which meant she could keep her distance and leave him to his plan and whatever would come of it.

Or she could put aside her plans for legitimacy for a touch longer and help him. "I'll think about it. Not because I think this is foolish, but so I can make a good escape plan. Just because you take off doesn't mean they aren't going to come to my door looking for you."

"That's probably a good idea, I reckon," Skip said as he thought carefully about the hornet's nest he may be volunteering to walk into. The bartender at the saloon was no small fry, and he had sounded pretty damn ready to get violent. Skip knew his hammer work would make quick work of the bartender, but he had no idea who else was lurking in the underbelly of the dusty prairie town they found themselves in.

The young cowboy knew something had to be going on, something sinister. Skip could almost feel his hammer back on his rental horse reacting to the supposed destiny that may have been unfolding itself by the minute. It was certainly a surreal feeling trembling through Skips body at that moment. He wasn't sure if the goosebumps he had was only a result of a cool breeze blowing across his wet skin at that moment, or if it was some higher power giving him a sign. Either way, Skip felt pretty brave at that moment.

"Maybe we could time this thing out," he suggested to his unlikely partner, "see if there's a wagon or a stagecoach leaving town over the next few days that needs a couple riders for security, or just maybe a hand to help out in case of repairs. We sign up for the job, do a little snooping, if things get harry we just hit the road, disapper with a dozen or so people. What do you think?"
