Embarras de Richesse

If I Hadn't Seen It, I Wouldn't Have Believed It

Serenissima Syd has again outdone herself. Her fans will go utterly bazookas when Ch 15 publishes. Don't try to guess where this story is going, it's a masterpiece. Brava Serenissima Syd!!!!!

Grandmistress Lisa Jones is on Ch 2 of GMLJ's latest, and it is smoking hot. GMLJ's fans will not be disappointed in this new approach. Thoughtful, it engages the brain as well as the sex organs.

SilkStockingsLover has added another chapter to her Soccer Mom series, and this one is shooting flames sky-high! Hot and sweet and tender, like the best barbecue. When Silk publishes, settle back with a cold Molson Bras d'Or, and enjoy!

ManyEyedHydra has a hot, kinky EH in the Halloween competition, Guard Duty. I'm conflicted out of voting, so I can't say more.

SA Penn Lady has a Halloween story working that's a total winner. Would have been a natural for the old "Twilight Zone" television series. Really masterfully crafted, as we've come to expect from a league-leading professional writer.

SilkStockingsLover has a novel, and it hits all the bases so far. It's a big copy editing job (I'm barely more than a quarter of the way through it), but she took a plot bunny from, of all places, an academic journal, and has really put her distinctive style all over it. Her fans will love this!

Last, but never least, hail to the victors of the 12th Annual! SA Penn Lady as "most helpful editor" is a truly well-deserved win, as, indeed, are all the others. Bravi!

October 11, and All's Very Well

Serenissima Syd posts Ch 15 of "How to Save a Life", and the consternation of the fans is palpable. Syd is facing bases loaded with the meat of the opposing batting order coming up. At the edge of our seats, beer and peanuts forgotten, our trembling hearts asking "Can she do it?!" And the chant goes up: "Let's go Syd!"

Storm62 is back with more Star Cops heroics. Barring the technicals, what's not to like? "Asteroid Patrol" is good stuff.

Last, but very decidedly not least, Grandmistress Lisa Jones enters a new dimension with "Heart Strings", a mind control story that's dark and heady, reminiscent of GMLJ's earlier hit "Gotcha", but with a new twist. I like the title GMLJ chose better than the one I'd suggested when copy editing. But then again, GMLJ is an accomplished Mistress of the Craft.

SA Penn Lady's "The Collection" has posted, and indeed it is worthy of the Golden Age of Rod Serling's "Twilight Zone".

GeronimoAppleby's "Shortcut Home" is a scary non-E; well-written.

Just finished a copy edit on LunaEroticaMystica's Jersey Shore Halloween story. It's gonna be a winner, but Luna has to stop worrying about deadlines.

Darkniciad's aboard with "Barren Harvest"--witches and warlocks and zombies, oh my! But the sex is good and hot.

Ilmonamour promises a new series. Good to have her back.

And DG Hear, MFG, says he's got another story working--the man is the Energizer Bunny.

And I've got an essay awaiting publication--Confessions of a Quibbler. Title speaks for itself.

I had commented directly on the "Comments" page of D_Lynn's latest, "Turning Point." It's a very disturbing story, and really makes you think about attitudes toward domestic violence. But it shows D_Lynn's splendid "Tribal Unity" was no fluke. She beat a strong field in Summer Lovin'.

Then I got this PM from D_Lynn, and I quote it with D_Lynn’s permission. This is what makes it all worthwhile.

“Thanks for your comments on my short story, Turning Point. I really do appreciate your support and your well-written feedback.

“I'm writing a Loving Wives story right now that I'm fairly enthusiastic about, but I'm a bit nervous about posting in that area. I've read the tales of brutal commenting from the readers of that particular category. But this story in my mind just won't go away.

“I do wonder, though, how much worse it can be than the personal messages I'm going to receive today about rape. Non-Consent/Reluctance is a tough category and the readers tend to rank lower than other categories, I think. But I can't resist pushing the envelope from time to time.

“Anyway, thanks again...for your support, your comments, and your positive attitude on this site. You keep us all writing.”

Good and New on 10/15

RjThoughts has a winner in "He Went to a Ball Game"--good characterization and local color, a Non-E that kept me reading. Minor technical flaws, but good work overall.

And Storm62 has a new series, "Star". Again the technicals are flawed, but the story is truly sweet, and a real "feel-good" story always does it for me--and, it would seem, more than a few readers, as the story has scored well on debut.

My essay "Confessions of a Quibbler" has posted, and I owe an immediate and abject apology to Ilmonamour for not listing IMA as an author for whom I copy edit. I'm extremely grateful to work for this talented author. I hope she chooses to bring her latest series to Literotica--the first chapter was really fine.

LunaEroticaMystica really has a fine followup to Jersey Shore Loving. I got to see some more of it today, and did a minor copy edit (her work needs so little). A pleasure to see a really fine story.

Although some might call it a tearjerker, Tara_Neale's "Red, White and Blue Halloween" is a feel-good, and well-written.

And Storm62 has another chapter to "Star", and it's another feel-good. I like feel-goods, they're so different to RL.

A True Embarras de Richesse 10/19

Calibeachgirl's "Dark Kisses" Ch 1 is really fine; just two ultra-minor quibbles. Her many fans will love this story. Real feel-good Romance, of the best kind.

Carniegirl makes a very strong debut with "Maxine's New Life". A real shoot-'em-up film noir kind of story, with some hot sex thrown in (although labeled "Non-E"). But Carniegirl really needs a good copy editor; I wanted to quibble, because Carniegirl is a good writer, but seven Lit pages is just too much.

Electric1 has a "How To" well worth any writer's time. "9 Steps to Sexier Stories" is just that. If heat is wanted, follow electric1's rules and you won't go wrong. I want something more, so I don't agree with everything he says. However, the basics are all there, so authors would do well to read and heed.

Calibeachgirl's "Dark Kisses 2" just posted, and it's as good as Part 1. Hot, sweet, well-crafted.

Storm62's next chapter of "Star" is posted, and the adventure continues. This author has really hit his stride.

And another good "How To" from shandal, about the variation between UK English and what we speak over here. A glossary that's fun to read.

And last, but in no conceivable way least, LunaMysticaErotica sent me her latest Jersey Shore Lover story for a final quibble before launching it into the Halloween contest. A stern chase is a long chase, say the sailors, but Luna can sail with the best of them.

LunaEroticaMystica has posted the Apples and Love story, and it's as good as I had wished. And Serenissima Syd has just sent me Ch 16 of "How to Save a Life" for copy editing, but I'm going to need a day to get it done; Luna's story was quite long--9 Lit pages. I hope I got it right.

Serenissima Syd has done it again. Ch 16 does bring it all back home. And calibeachgirl's Dark Kisses 3 is as good as its predecessors.

calibeachgirl's Dark Kisses Ch 4 will cause a stir. I understand and approve what she and her editor have done. She's taken a big risk, but she's kept faith with her muse. Good work.

carniegirl has Maxine Stone playing the tough guy again in Maxine's Excellent Adventure. Hard-boiled. Needs a mild copy edit.

mikothechick, stangstar06's editor, has written a story of her own, "What the FUCK", that has potential, but there are issues. I was of two minds whether to post my remarks on this story here, or on my "Disappointments" thread. But as a copy editor, I want to encourage my fellow editors, so it's here. But read it--you'll see where the flaws are, and make up your own mind. Of course, it was posted as a LW, so she'll probably catch a ton of flak.

carniegirl has two more Maxine Stone stories today (10/23) but they're listed out of chronological order. "Rolling Stone" comes before "5 Road Trip All the Way". I don't know why carnie posts these as Non-E; there's plenty of sex to go around. And "5 Road Trip" has a whole section repeated, as if carniegirl didn't read the story through before s/he posted. I like his/her character, and the story is interesting, but oh! does s/he need an editor!

The start of a new DG Hear, MFG, story arrived in my inbox. Looks interesting, as all his stories do.

And right behind DG Hear, MFG, is Serenissima Syd, with Ch 17 of "How to Save a Life". The author calls it the conclusion, and tying up loose ends. Can't wait to read it, but DG Hear, MFG, is first up.

Serenissima Syd published Ch 16 of How to Save a Life, and the fans are loving it. And SilkStockingsLover has Bedding the Babysitter Ch 5 in the works, promising more to come (in more ways than one). So plenty of good reading ahead.

SilkStockingsLover posted the next Submissive Soccer Mom story, a real psychological story with mucho hot sex. What Silk does best. A great author to work with (as all of them are).

Carniegirl has another out of order Mad Max story. Good stuff, keeps your interest.

Storm62's Thoughts and Alcohol is a tough one. Have they got a chance? Decide for yourself.

JustPlainBob's Rob and Amy is what LW is all about. Very much in the heart of the genre.

Storm62 has ended his "Star" series, and it's a real feel-good. Storm has really hit his stride with this series. I hope he gives us more good stories.

And DG Hear, MFG, is working on a new series, tentatively titled "Thoughts", which he says isn't a "feel good". Storm62 had a story recently titled "Thoughts and Alcohol", which definitely wasn't a feel-good, and got some critical comments. Must be the zeitgeist again.

Ignoble's humorous story "The Guidance Counselor" is well worth reading. Great punchline!

And Grandmistress Lisa Jones is putting the finishing touches on a new series. Erotic meets exotic, and the characters are great.

Serenissima Syd has posted Ch 17 of "How to Save a Life", with an interesting headnote about writing a novel. Great story; sorry it's ended.

StangStar06 has written three separate endings to Mikothebaby's What the FUCK, and at least two of them should have been entered in the Halloween contest. I hope Miko isn't too discouraged by the reception her story got when she first posted. Most of us have gotten blasted, whether first or last. In the words of Dorothy Field (music by Jerome Kern, as sung and danced by Fred and Ginger), "Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, start all over again".

Storm62 is back on board as of 10/30 with "Dirty Work", more about Dustbin Dave and the love of his life. Sweet, not hot. If you're a real softie you'll like his work.

Grandmistress Lisa Jones has started publishing "A Tangled Web", and it looks like it's being well-received. I had a good time copy editing this series. Despite all the historical issues a purist might raise, it got me to suspend disbelief.

DG Hear, MFG, is readying his latest series, "Thoughts", for publication. He can tell a story with the best.
