David handed her the photo's and blushed slightly as she looked at them himself. He laughed, "well the camera likes you I'm not so about me however."

Looking over her shoulder at the pics with her, "we almost look like a couple". He didn't mean to say that out loud it just sort of slipped out.

"Sorry I didn't mean to imply anything." He turned bright red and wanted to climb into a hole and hide somewhere.

"So what do you want to do now?"

Bridget smirked hearing him say they looked like a couple and something inside of her wished they were. " We do look good David...Both of us " she said smiling and grabbed his hand.

"Your the tour guide David take me anywhere just as long as its legal"she laughed " im not quite ready to go home yet. She spotted a poster for a carnival in two hours and grinned "im not big on clowns but.. do you want to go here? "She said thinking it would be fun.

He smiled at her compliment and when she mentioned the carnival he agreed it would be a good idea.


"I haven't been to a carnival in years so yeah why don't we do that.Perhaps I can win you a stuffed animal and we can ride the Ferris wheel. In the mean time why don't we get out of here. We can just drive up into the edge of the mountains and back down there are some spectacular views just a few miles further up the road."

David took a deep breath and stepped closer slowly moving his lips to hers. He couldn't imagine what he would do if things got awkward or if she turned to give him her cheek.

Tricia smiled as he agreed and liked the idea of seeing more sights "That sounds beautiful"she said and blushed as he leaned in kissing her. She smiled and returned the kiss happy he was loosening up a bit around her.

They walked back to the car holding hands and David of course was being a gentleman and opened the door for her to climb back into the car.She smiled enjoying anytime he was like that because most men she met had acted like they were raised in s barn.

She began humming softly one of her songs and blushed seeing him look at her.She was half afraid he'd recognized her voice and then said "I wasn't distracting you was I?"

David was relieved that she not only seem to welcome the kiss but kissed him back as well. Once back into the car Becky began humming some song that he didn't recognize but it sounded quite nice. But it was her voice that really caught his attention.

"Yes totally distracting but all in a good way you have a beautiful voice though you were only humming. Please continue if you like I was enjoying it. You know I play guitar and used to play in a few bands when I was much younger. Now I'm no Eric Clapton but you certainly can tell what I'm playing."

He cranked the Jeep and pulled onto the highway heading north taking his time and driving slowly. The road began going up hill into the mountains and the view got better and better.

A few miles down the road he pulled over at a small parking lot that had a sign marking it as a scenic view point. The view was magnificent and you could see for miles into the valley below. David grabbed her hand and walked over to the guard railing as the wind whipped around them. It was a bit colder at the higher elevation. The town he was from was even lower than where the mall was located but now 20 miles into the mountains it had become a bit chilly.

"Are you cold" he inquired?" He was tempted to move behind her and wrap his arms around her but hesitated.

Tricia smiled hearing he said he played guitar. She did as well but her fans never knew that because the record company said it didn't fit her image. She grinned and said "that's incredible I play as well but only acoustic."she was glad he liked her voice.

They got settled in a park and he walked with her over to a railing to admire the view. She shivered a bit from the breeze and he asked her if she was cold. " A little bit..I didn't expect the breeee"she said staring out at the view "it's beautiful up here "she said admiring it.

David stepped behind her to block the wind though he didn't wrap his arms around her he only stood with his stomach barely touching her chest. Leaning over her shoulder and lowering his head he pointed to a peak that was less than a quarter mile away.

"Eagles nest there and you can often see them coming and going."

Turning left he pointed out the river that led to the lake they had been swimming in. Turning right he pointed up and into the mountains, "about 100 miles further up the road you can find a ski resort in the winter and a summer retreat this time of year. It sits just between those two peaks."

Tricia smiled as he pointed things out to her and she looked at surroundings. She thought about staying here year round with him but she wasn't sure how comfortable he'd be with that and said " maybe I should come back into the winter...I bet it's beautiful here"she said

She spotted the lake they swam in and smiled recalling their first night together. "I don't think I ever would have been able to enjoy this trip without you David"she smiled.

"I'm really glad that you are enjoying yourself though I think the town and mother natures has enough charms that you would enjoy even without me. But I'm glad you have chosen to enjoy with me."

David finally wrapped his arms around her not tightly but he slipped one over each one of her own and reached forward grabbing one of her hand on the opposite side so that his wrists made a X in front of her.

He stood there a minute more soaking in the scenery, "You ready to get back inside and warm up?" David escorted her back inside and they drove further up pulling up to several more scenic vantage points along the way. He would park where she could have a look without having to get out.

"I suppose that we should head back down if we want to go to the carnival. About 15 miles further up the road is a beautiful bed and breakfast where all 4 rooms have amazing views. The lady that runs the place is quite the host and whoever cooks is quite the chef. The house was built over 200 years ago as a lodge for hunters and trappers. The original one was lost in a avalanche though that is no longer a concern as a portion of the mountain that shoveled the snow down towards the lodge broke off and is gone now. In fact this very road is on the same trail that used to carry horse and buggy up and down."

He turned towards the town below and finally asked something that had been really bothering him. "So Becky how long do you plan on staying? But before you answer let me explain why I'm asking. I have really kept to myself over the last year or so and had come to love my solitude. It wasn't so much that I didn't enjoy being around others but a lot of different experiences in my life. The latest of which was that I was engaged about 2 years ago. To make a long story short she left me and called it off only a few days before the wedding. She explained that she needed something more than life in a simple town with a simple man. She needed bright lights, broad way shows, and five star restaurants. She knew that I don't mind visiting those places and have but I would never live full time in New York or L. A. So she packed her stuff and left which is the last day I set foot in the guest house where you are now staying. I locked the doors and allowed a house keeper in once a week to prevent things from getting dusty but had never spent a night or stepped foot in there until you arrived."

He stayed quiet for a few seconds but there was more to come. When he had finished negotiating a particular nasty curve he began speaking once more.

"She never even saw the house that I built mostly myself. The wood I chopped and then had planned. Don't feel strange about staying there it obviously was never hers and in retrospect she did me a favor." He wanted to say that he might not have ever met her but held his tongue.

"I'm just glad that someone wonderful is enjoying it and you are welcome to stay in whenever you want for as long as you want. Even if you didn't always want me around or whatever just you staying there has made the house complete and whole and in a way it has helped make part of me whole once more."

He went quiet once more thinking, "I didn't mean to say all those things that was probably waaayyyy to heavy and emotional. She will probably get scared and want to get away as fast as possible.

He refused to meet her eye feeling that he had just made some terrible mistake.

Tricia was silent for a while. She tried containing some of her fear that he would get distanced because she was exactly what his ex fiancée had wanted to be a celebrity.She felt the guilt well up inside of her and felt horrible for keeping her secret from him.

She saw she had been clenching her fists so tightly they were turning white. She was upset that someone would do that to him because of she had this all the time she would definitely sacrifice the fame and fortune to have someone like David in her life.

She had planned to stay with him for the two months but she felt that she might stay longer because there was so much here to see and she wanted to be the one he showed it to. She had been in a serious relationship a few months back but she had realized that the love had been one sided and her ex was only dating her for the benefits of being Trish's boyfriend.That is why she had kept herself away from men who were interested or kept to herself until David that is.

She reached over grabbing his hand softly and said "I was planning on staying two months but now lm not sure ..I may stay longer..if you'll have me..and I'm not one to talk about others much but your lucky she left when she did David it saved you the trouble .if she was able to leave you so willingly for fame and Spotlight that was not love. If I had a man do something So beautiful from his bare hands for me...I'd never leave him"she said and looked out the window.

David heard her words but was unable to look at her as he drove and was thankful when she took his hand in hers. He gave her hand a tight squeeze of appreciation as his heart pounded in his chest.

Her desire to stay with the words "if you will have me" made him wonder what she meant. He wanted it to mean if you will have me as in best friends, lovers who shared an emotional bond. But what if she meant if you will have as your house guest he wasn't sure, "women sometimes confuse the hell out of me" he thought.

"Becky of course I would love to have you stay just as long as you like I wouldn't ask if I didn't truly mean it or want you to."

Deciding to make himself clear that he still wasn't making assumptions he added quickly, "if there is someone in your life you want to stay with you they are welcome as well."

He still hadn't looked over at her and was thankful for the waning light as the sun was setting afraid that she might see his eyes a bit watery. The emotions he was feeling were a mix of old and new and he was trying hard to shove them all back down and bury them deep where they would never see the light of day again. But her sincere words about what he had done with his bare hands made him feel wonderful and sad at the same time. It wasn't that he missed his ex, no he was really over her it was the raw emotion of hurt she had inflicted upon him when she left. Like a wound that wasn't quite healed yet. The flip side of that equation was that he was having strong feelings for Becky still unable to admit to himself fully what they were though he had thought it a few times. He didn't think he could go through another hurtful ending to a relationship.

A old quote came to mind, "its better to have lost in love than never to have loved at all, fuck that he thought."

They were almost back to town and he took a side road which would lead them to the carnival still unable to look her direction.

Tricia smiled brightly happy he had wanted her to stay but she didn't know if he wanted her as a friend or something more.He asked he if she wanted someone special to stay with her in the cabin and she was tempted to say him but she didn't want to freak him out.

"There's no one David..I live alone and im single.There is my mother and sister but my sister lives in New York and my mom lives in Vegas , theyre both married ." She smiled thinking about the two. She hadnt seen much of them but she did talk or text with the two almost daily.

She also knew that her sister would have a ball seeing her with David mainly because she didn't date and she was actually giving him a chance.She had been hurt numerous times and for her to let David get close to her.

They began to see signs advertising the carnival and a few more miles and they drove through and open gate. Beyond the gate was a dirt parking lot which was almost completely full. David took one of the last few spots and got out of the jeep stretching his airs into the air. He took a deep breath and the air smelled of cotton candy, hot dogs, and a bit of exhaust from the rides.

Smiling at Becky he took her hand, "So kiddo what do you want to do first?" He led her to the gate and bought two tickets as they passed through into the carnival grounds. Local groups had food booths set up serving everything from hot dogs and pizza to funnel cake and cotton candy.

Towards the midway was games where you busted balloons with darts, ring toss, water gun races, and coin toss. Beyond that was where the rides were located and he had already spotted a double ferris wheel and the bullet.

Tricia smiled looking around at the carnival and seeing the sights. She hadnt gone to anything like this In years and she held Davids hand as they walked through she spotted a game she wanted to play and pulled him to it.

'Lets play this game.im a pretty bad aim but it looks fun and im sure you will help me"she grinned and grabbed one of their fake guns. Bending over to get a good angle and unintentionally drawing the eye of a few men that were playing. She had been a bit of a tomboy in her youth and often resulted to her layed back ways when she was hanging out.

David followed her over and upon her suggestion he help he stood behind her and put both arms around her. His head was beside her own, "the sites aren't going to be very accurate but look down the sites and squeeze the trigger."

He assisted her aiming as she began to hit the target, "good job I think you got it."

He saw a few people looking in their direction and realized that several guys were checking her out. "Well of course they are", he thought, "she is beautiful and has a body that is cut from some magazine."


A bell went off signaling that Becky had won a prize and the guy running the game showed her the choices of several different things.

"Good job you didn't need my help at all your just that good." David took her hand pulling her towards a game that had a prize he wanted to win for her. It was a large stuff bear hung way up high. It was the only one there and over the area where his heart should be it said, 'I Love My Best Friend".

The game was a baseball throw where you have to knock over these metal pins that looked somewhat like bowling pins. To win the big bear David saw that he would need to knock over all three pins in one throw. He had been a pitcher in high school and pitched some in numerous military baseball games. David took the ball and looked over at Leah, "A kiss for luck?", he asked.

Tricia had been excited she had won the game and grinned picking a stuffed bear wearing sunglasses and beach shorts. He gently brought her over to another game and she knew David would play it he seemed like a sports guy.

He asked her for a kiss for luck and she smirked before standing on her her toes giving him a big kiss just for added fun. She winked at him when he looked at her shocked and grinned and watched as he and a few other guys played cheering him on excitedly and amazed at how good he was.

The good luck kiss was anything but that it was so much more to the point several people watched. It wasn't that it was that long or something it was obvious to anyone looking that it was intimate and meaningful.

David took the baseballs and his first three throws he only got 2 out of 3 but he felt he had it down this time. He gave the prize to a young girl that was standing nearby with her mom watching. He was going to get the big bear for Leah.

Lining up his first throw David knocked all three down, his second throw was true as well and the third throw knocked two down while third seemed like it wasn't going to fall. At the last minute the third pin tipped and fell from the platform. Smiling widely he pointed to the big bear and told the guy they would be back to pick up it and it had best be there or there would be some serious problems. The guy took the bear down and placed somewhere safe with Leah's name on it. "No problem buddy it will be here", came his reply.David knew it wouldn't work well on some of the rides.

" How do you feel about the double ferris wheel or perhaps the uhh", looking around for other options was a ride called "The Tunnel of Love". He blushed as he looked at it then saw the "Matterhorn". He immediately led her towards that, "Why don't we start with this one." The Matterhorn you sat two people to a car and it went in a figure 8 pattern where one person would be pressed against the other really hard due to the centrifugal force of the ride. They played loud music and it was just a fun non-scary ride though it did tend to get people close to one another.

They entered the ride and David made sure to put her on the side that would press her to him otherwise his body weight might hurt her. He was also glad that her hurt arm was on the side where there would be no pressure.

The ride started off slowly and music began to play it was the same girl that they had heard a few times in the past. "Man whoever she is she is very popular", he thought.

Tricia smiled as they got on the ride called the Matterhorn. She was having an amazing time with him and blushed hearing her song turn on as the ride began. She was thankful for the sunglasses she wore and was enjoying the ride hoping they didnt play anything else of hers.

The ride finished shortly after and she laughed a bit dizzy as David helped her out of the car. She grinned spotting a go kart track and smirked. "Cmon lets go race" she smiled

Following Becky to the go karts David got into his favorite colored care blue and strapped in. He looked over at Becky, "Please try and go easy on me what do ya say?"

He laughed and as the attendant checked everyone's belt he winked at her. The lights turned green and they were off. David shot out in front by just a nose but Becky was hot on his tail. Another guy was closing on her as well but he maneuvered to cut him off and gave her the lead. "Not for long", he thought.

Tricia grinned having a ball racing she and David were in the lead followed by a man close behind. She suddenly passed David blowing him a kiss and drove past the two men now in the lead. She heard the honk of his carts horn behind her ands mired seeing he was catching up to her closely.

She laughed liking the challenge and increased her speed a bit seeing the finish line wasn't that far from either of them.

One of the guys hot on their tail decided to try and hit Becky in the rear tire area and put her against the wall. He thought "Oh no you don't", and accelerated hitting the guys cart hard and spinning David around facing the wrong way. The mans buddy was now in hot pursuit but David hit the accelerator once more and turned sharply causing the guy to basically T-bone him giving Becky a very easy win. She would have won anyways but now she could simply coast across the finish line.

As they exited the carts the two men looked over at him with slightly perturbed looks but said nothing. David nodded at them and smiled as he grabbed Becky's hand.

"There ya go champ you know how women have a heavy foot."

Tricia smiled hugging him and pulled back laughing slapping his chest playfully. "Ill have you know my driving record is nearly squeaky clean aside from one speeding ticket i got but that was only an emergency my sister was in labor" she chuckled

"You ok Superman? I saw what you did back there" she said rubbing the back of his hand and grinned as they brought over her trophy full of about $500. "Where are we going next and umm ..Dinner on me"she said deciding to put the money in her purse and held the trophy that read "Kart Queen".

"Yeah, one speeding ticket sure I believe that. Maybe I should make sure you actually have a drivers license and they haven't pulled it for to many violations."

He was laughing as he teased her, "Hey what I did back there was to insure my team won and that's team us." Referring to them as us pleased David though it wasn't really a big deal.

"As to dinner will be glad for you to buy me dinner. But first lets go ride the double ferris wheel unless you are scared of heights?"

He wanted to make sure she was truly alright with the height as some people just couldn't handle it. He didn't want her to just ride it to try and please him only to be scared to death the entire time or get sick and not be able to enjoy the rest of the evening.

She smiled as he referred to them as a team and agreed to dinner as it was getting late."Not at all David I'm quite the daredevil" she laughed and grabbed his hand pulling him toward the Ferris wheel.

The operator placed them in a single cart with two seats which seemed to be designed for couples and she sat across from David smiling and reached across holding his hand.

As they began going up he looked at her as the moon was over Becky's right shoulder. "Amazing", he uttered and when she looked a little confused David explained. "The moon was just perfectly centered over your right shoulder and there is just enough ambient light that it would have made an amazing picture of the most beautiful woman I have ever met."

His sudden confession was quick and came automatic without a thought. It was obvious that it wasn't a come on line or something you just say. The sincerity in his voice was totally genuine.

They continued to climb higher and higher the view becoming more and more magnificent though beyond the city lights and the farm houses it was mostly dark. You could see the outlines of the surrounding peaks from the glow of the moon.

As their wheel switched positions and brought them to the top it came to a complete stop with no further rotation. David leaned across and brought his lips to hers.
