Ever Go Shootin'?

Trap shooting, target range with pistols and rifles.

My fav. pistol is the 9mm. Rifle has to be the mini 14.

I fired a few out of the 357. That thing is too much. .38 shells in it are much better.
 
I'm sure with a longer barrel and heavier gun, a .357 wouldn't be so hard on the wrist.

You better have the correct grip! Two-handed ain't a bad idea, either.

I like the Ruger over an Ar, too. I have only shot .38 out of a .357, and that 357 is the only time I've ever shot an actual revolver. All the other times I've been shooting it's been with a conventional semi-automatic.

My favorite to practice with was a borrowed Walther P22. That's a really good gun to learn with because it's small ergonomic almost recoilless so it helped me avoid some of the bad habits that you pick up shooting something bigger to start. It shirts mini-mag rather than regular long rifle so the Emma was a little harder to find in a little more expensive but it's still really cheap to shoot.

I like .40 over 9mm. My brothere's duty weapon is a Glock22 in .45. He's a by-the-book kind of guy so I've never shot it but I would like to try one sometime just to see. I've shot several M1911 in 45 caliber and I'm not very good with it. Honestly it's a little too much gun for me.

The AR is nice...but the Mini 14 just seems smoother. And more accurate just with sights. Shooting .357 is actually painful. But, maybe it was the gun I borrowed. Small thing really meant for .38. A detective special barks them out nicely, though.

.45 seems more for close in stopping power. Ive shot a 1911 and revolver in .45. A ton of drop in a short distance.
 
Back in the '80's I was out in the sticks down home way Shooting my favorite bang bang, a Ruger single six Blackhawk .41 magnum checking out my newest hot load by blowing chunks out of the pond dam.

My brand new blond Sister in Law after watching me shoot a few rounds Begged me to let her shoot it. I looked at my brother and raised an eyebrow he closed both eyes and nodded yes trying not to laugh.

So I gave her the pistol explained how to use the scope and cock it and how to do a two hand grip.

Loaded up like the rounds were, it kicked almost like a .44 Mag. just not quite enough to bruise the hands.


My brother stood behind her so he could catch her before she hit the ground I stood to her right so I could grab my gun.

Sure enough when she pulled the trigger she almost completely fainted...

My brother grabbed her and I caught my pistol.

She was pale as a sheet and had to sit down there on the grass.

I don't think she has fired a firearm since.

I've plinked at many things with many different firearms. A hammerless .38 is my concealed carry of choice. Discreet, yet functional.

Yes they're heavy and slow. They think they only travel at something like 700 to 900 ft per second. I forget the number though but it seems to me that the mass is something like about two 9mm bullets.
 
Me and my cousins used to set up 410 shells like across a field and plink at em with the 22 on the over and under. Kaboom! Stupid to think about all that now.
 
I shoot on a regular basis.

I enjoy picking off squirrels. They're just tree rats.

I have a fox haunting the property and I would like to get a bead on him,
but they are very skittish...
 
I enjoy several kinds of shooting. I like precision rifle, USPSA matches, and just general plinking with the kids. I'm going to try Cowboy Action next month.
