Surely you mean excited, right?

Maybe she meant she needed to look for the exits in the theater. Anybody can own military hardware these days. Now we have to teach our kids to look for the exits at every public place.

I don’t think she’s as paranoid as you.

It will be a challenge to forget Heath Ledger's performance while watching this latest version of this Gotham City bad guy. If Phoenix can pull it off, I'll be Joaquin on sunshine.

You don't teach them that anyway? Knowing your exit is some pretty basic common sense shit.

I watched Joker last night and..

It was a very good experience.

Any more fans I can discuss this with?

Sure, why the hell does anyone need an origin story for a character that is best when we don't know the origins?
Did we not learn from Solo? I mean sure it was a decent movie overall but the micromanaging of some pretty basic shit about his life was distracting at best.
Anyway, I'll catch it sooner or later (probably later) but I have for some time been bitching about why this movie was made.

Or maybe, you know, she's just....wait for it....."exited".

DJ, cue GiaCat pointer sisters karoake!

🎵 I'm so exited!

Judging by the previews, he might not make you forget Ledgers Joker, but I would be shocked if it wound up disappointing.

Granted it's probably because it's because I was a kid and everything is magical and impressive at a young age, but I'll always be partial to Jacks Joker.

I am not worried about a theater massacre. If it's your time, it's your time. Just make sure who ever depends on you is set up right.

Since the Press is obsessed with it they may give someone the idea. Making it a self fulfilling prophecy.

Huh. That's a pretty glib and lazy way to look at something preventable and the concern over it.

You gonna look at it the same way when your kids are old enough to see shows on their own?

"Well, kiddos...if you catch one in the head from a cosplaying gun-toting sociopath while seeing On Golden Pond 2: Annihilation at the Beacon tonight, them's the breaks! I'll remember your birthdays, tho'!" :D

You play-act like it hasn't happened before and more than once, for reasons that have zilch to do with "given ideas" from "self fulfilling prophecies."

The only way to prevent it is to not go see it or have an armed police officer at every showing of the movie. Also, I am not going to hide in my house huddled under a blanket. I am a motorcycle rider. We have a bit of a sense of fate about us. I was almost run down by a drunk driver, but I still ride even though it was a terrifying moment.

Well, yeah...but that's not what you really mentioned. The media not talking about potential violence at showings of Joker because it happened before with the same character isn't going to stop that potential violence from happening. The concern is legit. It should be discussed.

Being silent about our collective dysfunctions as a society is not how society works. We have to adjust for these things, inconvenient as it may be. We shouldn't allow them to prevent us from going out and enjoying entertainment, true, but we shouldn't pretend that they won't happen if the acts, symptoms and preventions aren't discussed because said discussion is myopically viewed as direct influence to said violence when it isn't.

Like you, I don’t live my life in fear. When it’s time to checkout in life, it’s time to checkout. No one is promised a tomorrow. It sounds great, but the reality is we can leave this place at any time.

Well, you misunderstand me. I am not trivializing what happened during the Dark Night, and I realize there can be a copycat. I just choose to go on living my life. Just ask people who live near volcano or earthquake zones. They know the threat is there, but what are you going to do? Just live life.

That's nice. Now go tell that to everyone else sitting in the theatre with you, just like you so confidently told us.

I am seeing it next weekend. I will give you all my impressions...if I survive. ;)

Right, live by the phrase, "I'm already dead". And never beg for your life. Go out with some dignity.
