. For a few hours at least, Kenzi slept peacefully..but images of Josh and his affair began swirling through her mind and conjured up enough of a nightmare that it woke her. Much as she tried, Kenzi tossed and turned on the couch until the sun began peeking over the horizon. At that point, she just gave up. The house was quiet and a look out into the still open garage told her that she had spent the night alone. Kenzi scoffed and rolled her eyes. Why did she even still care? It wasn't as though she was going to welcome him back with open arms. No..they were done. She had had enough of Josh Carmichael to last her a lifetime.
She suddenly remembered Ryan, and quickly padded back into the living room where her phone was. Kenzi smiled at the first message, and felt a tiny flutter in the pit of her stomach. It had been a long time since she had felt this excited and she hurriedly sent a reply to him before heading upstairs to wash away the nightmares and get ready.
**Good morning!
Hoping that sleep found you easily. Meet me on the corner of Millington at 8, I have the perfect spot for us this morning.**
When they were teenagers, Ryan and Kenzi would spend hours at Josie's in their own world, talking about their dreams and plans for after high school. It was one of the only places in the city that hadn't been touched afyer all these years. Walking in the door was like being instantly transported to the 60's, and it was still tje best hangout spot for teens. Maybe not so much for the atmosphere, but the food was salty and greasy and delicious. And the owner left you alone as long as you didn't cause a scene.
Upstairs, Kenzi made quick work of a shower and chose a simple pair of jeans and an oversized light green cashmere sweater. It wasn't terribly cold during the day, but she grabbed a jacket just in case. Back downstairs, she grabbed her phone and ordered another Uber. She had left her car uptown the night before, but it could wait until after coffee. As she grabbed her bag from the counter where she had left it, Kenzi decided to let Josh know that she knew. Another message tapped out and sent just before the notification that her car had arrived.
**Josh, I'm done. Your lies have become absolutely suffocating and I can NOT handle it anymore. I hope whoever you were fucking in our bed yesterday has room at her place, because you're out of mine. Please pack your shit and politely get the fuck out of my house.**
Smiling to herself, Kenzi made her way out the door, and into the waiting car. She gave the driver directions and then sat back, letting her excitement course through her.
