Facts, figures, and morons

I usually get nekkid pictures from women who dug the story, so that more than makes up for any complaints. :)

I feel sooo inadequate now. I've never gotten anything like that.

On the other hand, I've gotten very few negative comments, so I'll live.

But there does come a point where decisions have to be made for the story's sake. I wrote about a leather bar and had Dusk Peterson (an expert of sorts) edit it for realism--but there came a point where I had to fudge things for the sake of the story. For example, I was told that there WERE some bars that now had "leather-fems" in regular attendance rather than just "Leather dykes." That, however, was not going to work for my story. So, I emphasized that my bar was small, obscure and a little behind the times and boldly had a character say that the bar just did not get female-females, that not even the dykes brought them in.

It was essential for the story that my fem be a rarity in the bar--and I think of it as only a bit of a fudge as it's not like I name the city or state where my bar is. So no leatherguy is likely to say, "I go to bars in that state and they're filled with leather-fems!"

If its only a fudge and the story needs it, then fudge it.

That happened to me in Hero's Reward. The main character not only needed to be blind, it had to be a case where the woman knew he couldn't see (even a little). I consulted a couple of doctors and got close with a condition that would fit what I needed, but there was no legitimate reason for him to wear eye bandages, so I fudged. Both doctors said it wasn't accurate, but wasn't terribly atrocious either. I submitted the story and crossed my fingers that no one would complain about it and (knock on wood), so far no one has.

I knew what I was doing and was prepared to deal with the consequences if they came. What gets me are people who find something that isn't even really an issue, but they assume it is (like the police officer example). You actually do your research or use something from your life that you know to be accurate, then someone posts a comment saying it's wrong and ruined the whole story (which starts a cascade of commentors basing their comments on the first one). That's what bugs me.

Ummmm Boota..... your AV.... and you're wondering WHY women want to show you what they have.... great Goddess.... *mutters*

(/end total threadjack)
I"m in agreement. In fact, I think Boota should show us what he has. And we'll go one better, Boota...you don't even have to read our stories before posting an appropriate picture....

You should make an alt, tell people you're in a band and find a Boota-like AV!

This is the Internet, for chrissakes! You don't have to be honest! ;)

So is this thread now about bizarre comments about Boota? A strange variation, surely.

Apart from the usual jib-jab about "why did you make them use a condom? That ruined the whole story for me!", "write a sequal, and this time, make her pregnant!", and "I think he should have shot that unfaithful bitch!", my most bizarre feedback was the man who wrote that one of my stories inspired him to a fantasy about having sex with his mother.

No, I haven't written much lately, but I assure you it's ONLY due to lack of time because of my school work, it has nothing to do with the weirdos out there.

Was the story about a guy having sex with his mother? Or did that just come out of the blue? How weird would it be if someone wrote, "I just read your story about the couple having the illicit affair, and... well, long story short, I've been hammering nails into my penis. Thanks!"

Well...at least you know you've made an impression

I think it was a Mature story. Or maybe a brother/sister story. Don't know, don't remember. I know for sure that I've never written anything about parents and children having sex together, becuase that grosses me out.

My guess is that he was just trying to freak me out or something. Atleast I'm sticking to that theory, because that's the most sane option I can think of.

RAOTFLMFuckinAO...seriously, man...no shit...I am!! :D

Someone once complained about the language used by one of the wood nymphs in my Earth Day story. He said that he imagined that they would be somehow "softer."

All right, buddy boy. Yeah.

Never mind that the piece is pure stroke. Never mind that it was only one of the three that used rough language, or that it's a part of my style to have my characters talk dirty as the sex grows passionate (like real life). Oh no... I've shattered this guy's dreams concerning lusty wood nymphs forever, and he had to punish me by giving me *gasp* a 4!
