Fallen (Open to any and all)

Nikita shook her head. "I don't know how to describe what I know...." she spoke slowly as she studied his suddenly more lethargic. "What about you?...what do you know?..or feel? Sometimes that really is more important..."

James sighed and sat back in his booth."I thought that my head would expload soon. I couldn't sleep. I've been constantly alert and full of energy. When you touched my hand something happened. I felt all that extra energy shove against.. you, and i feel like i can finally go to sleep now."

Nikita looked down at the coffee cups again and sighed quietly. "Its a feeling of peace perhaps...that I give to you. Or perhaps something had attached itself to you and filling you with anxiousness, for what I once was would send certian...beings or ...feelings ...well away from you...Do you feel better or worse?" she asked scanning his features cautiously.

Amber must have been young. She couldn't have been much over twenty. Hell, maybe she was still in high school. Yet she carried herself with a dignity that spoke of maturity. She also knew the job well, suggesting that she had worked at the bristro for some time now. She carried a fresh pot of coffee toward their table.

Amber wore the black tshirt that was the uniform for the cafe, but she made it look great. It clung tightly to her form as if it were a size too small and, although covered, displayed her ample breast nicely. Her hair that was her namesake fell to her shoulders with a side bang mostly covering her left eye. She had a pleasant smile. It was friendly and welcoming. Either she enjoyed her job or she faked it well.

"Can I get either of you a refill?" she asked. Her voice was innocent and sweet, almost musical, and carried a slight Southern accent. The question she posed was to both members at the table, but her emerald eyes lingered on Nikita a bit longer.

Nikita smiled up at the girl her eyes reading a clear signal, she averted her blue orbs back into her coffee cop and then across the table. "A refill would be lovely, thank you" she said with a quiet shiver still unable to shake the cold. Her hands trembled slightly as she pushed the cup towards the woman.

"i dont think you need worry about your head exploding" she said to James offhand as if it was an afterthought, "you seem a natural at reflecting..."

James waited till the waitress was out of earshot before he asked somewhat indignantly, "and what exactly is reflecting?" He was so used to her not saying anything that when she finally said something that could possibly help he was baffled.

Amber filled both of their cups and turn to go about her business once more. Although she had departed them physically, her mind was still on Nikita. There was some quality about her that Amber just could not place. She had found herself attracted to women before, but this was somehow different. She wouldn't say anything, of course. She never did. Still, she stole another glance at the beautiful woman.

Nikita stared into the steaming coffee cup for awhile before speaking again. Her eyebrows knitted in a concerned and sad expression. "reflecting, mirroring energies....if you smile, i smile, i feel, you feel...." she lifted her gaze from the drink and looked at James. "watch" she said as she stole a glance at the pretty, and young waitress, her eyes spoke of warmth and the smile in them was inviting and eventually a corner of her lips upturned as she held the gaze.

Amber catches the smile and feels the warmth. She feels at home when she looks upon the stranger. It's strange and she can't explain it. She returns the smile. It was a bright smile that lit up her whole face.

Amber felt happy. More happy than she had been for awhile. She then turned to go back about her business.

It was raining and the temperature had dropped considerably as a man stepped off of the bus and stood outside the terminal. He turned up the collar of his black leather jacket and stuck his hands in his pockets as he began to walk through the so-called city of angels in the rain, his short cropped dark hair normally spiked was plaster to his skull by the rain. People around him quickly parted to let him through as they caught a glimpse of his dark eyes and the scar that stretched from his forehead to his cheek that was broken only by his left eye.

"It should be called the City of Fallen Angels, rather then the city of angels. The gods abandoned mankind long ago but yet humans still cling to the belief of a higher power." A homeless man looked at him strangely from where he huddled under an awning trying to stay warm and keep himself out of the majority of the rain.

In the distance sirens could be heard screaming of the degeneration of the human race. He stopped walking for a moment in the rain as he heard music playing then cursed as he remembered where the melody came from. Again and again he was haunted by the sounds of the home he had be exiled from never to return all because he had protested humanity being given free will.

Nikita did not wait for any indication of understanding, she felt the shiver she could not shake returning and took a final drink from her cup. "Thank you for your kindness" she said to James. "I have my own answers to seek as well...I am afraid I find myself...in a confused state" she smiled once more at the waitress as she stood and tightened her oversized jacket around herself. "I will see you again, I've no doubt" she whispered as she turned towards the door, stopping once where Amber was working to lay a hand on her shoulder. "You are a beautiful person, I hope to see you again soon" she said "I like the coffee here" and made her way into the cold and stormy streets her mind darkening with the confusion. The physical pain of her recent fall...physical pain being something foreign to her she was learning to understand that sensation and was almost high on the experience. The rain at least...felt almost pleasant and she made no effort to stay dry.

Amber jumped at the touch, startled. She looked at the long, slender fingers upon her shoulder and her gaze followed the length of the lady's arm before finally their eyes met.

"You are a beautiful person.." the stranger said. This brought a smile not only to Amber's face, but to her heart as well. She could not remember being called beautiful before. Certainly not by her parents. Maybe she did have some beauty after all.

She watched as the lady stepped out into the rain. She had a desire to follow her, to be with her. She was drawn to this stranger in a way that she could not explain. She just stood there and watched. She didn't know how long. I may have been seconds or maybe minutes. She could have stared at this wonderful lady for hours.

"Hey!" shouted an angry voice at her. She turned to see a rather gruff man seated at a table nearby. "You gonna take our order or what?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, Sir," Amber answered sheepishly, awaken from her trance. "What can I get for you?"

The streets were grey and dismal. People rushed by Nikita in a hurry to get out of the rain and under some sort of shelter. Some carried umbrellas but others were caught in the rain without them. One child jumped in a puddle playfully before he was stopped by an unfriendly looking mother.

Jason was a typical business man in his early thirties. He was clean cut and his dark brown hair was cut short. He wore a rather expensive black suit and tie and hid under a black umbrella. He stood on the curb, trying to hail a cab. Seemed that all the cabs were already full of customers trying to get out of the stormy weather.

He sighed slightly and as he looked down the road for another taxi, his eye caught Nikita. She was beautiful, no doubt about that, but what really caught his eye was the fact that she made no effort to escape the rain. He stood, watching her a moment, with a smile. He remembered his childhood. He used to love the feel of rain on his face when he was a child. He was so carefree then.

Slowly Jason began to lower his umbrella. The rain now began to beat against him. He found he liked the feel of the rain once again and did not think of the effect of the rain on his expensive suit. He walked toward Nikita.

"Hello, Miss. I was wondering if you might want to share a cab," he offered. He closed his umbrella despite the fact that the rain was still falling hard.

Finally finishing his shopping, he found himself outside, caught in a sudden down pour, shrugging he unzipped the hood of his coat and fitted it on his head. As he walked back towards his apartment he noticed that the woman he had bumped into earlier was talking to what seemed like a businessman, by seemed he meant that the man wore the clothes, he had the stature, but he was soaking up the rain much like the young woman. Shaking his head, he continued on his way, taking shelter from the driving rain where he could.

Nikita looked up at the man, more through him than at him , blinking for a moment a small smile on her lips. "do you know...they say God is in the rain...Do you believe that?" she asked ignoring comment about the cab. She lifted her arms slightly palms upwards and looked at the rain splashing onto them. A tiny sigh escaping her as she waited for the man to answer her.

Jason gave her a slight smile. "God?" he laughed, "Even if there was a god, I don't think he'd be in the rain." He looked her over a bit, curious about this strange yet beautiful woman. "Still.. it does feel rather refreshing, doesn't it?"

The rain continued to fall on them, and he seemed in less of a hurry to get a cab. He looked upward to feel the rain against his face.

Nikita smiled slightly and tilted her head back in the direction of the coffee shop. She wondered briefly if the waitress would feel God in the rain, then suddenly looked up seeming to only just take actual notice of the man standing before her. "What do you believe?" she asked taking on a very serious expression staring upwards at his face.

Jason thought about this for a brief moment and then smiled. "I do believe you are one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, and I'd like to get to know you more. I believe that I would enjoy your company."

It wasn't like Jason to throw out pick-up lines, but this opportunity presented itself and he truely did want to get to know this lady more. She was pretty, kind and mysterious. She might have been a bit odd with her words about God in the rain, but that made her even more intriguing.

A small smirk lit Nikita's features as she looked up at the man seeming suddenly aware again of the cold. "Do you spend alot of time getting to know homeless women off the streets?" she asked arching an eyebrow and brushing her soaked hair from in front of her eyes. "im afraid its not so easy a task" she said adjusting the coat that was soaked and weighing itself down in weight from the water.

Jason smiles. He then extends a hand toward her. "I'm Jason. Is there anything I can do for you? A hot meal, perhaps?" He truely wanted to help her as well as spend time with her. If nothing more than having dinner with her occured, he would be a very happy man.

As he glanced over his shoulder he saw the pair still standing in the rain, for a woman as frail as that it did not bode well. He stopped and turned back, he came to the pair and took out his badge,

"Officer Richard Anders, ma'am do you need any help? Standing out here in the rain is not good for you."

Nikita looked at the man somewhat wide eyed and flashed him a half smile. "Is it not safe?" Behind the smile her eyes were guarded and somewhat taunting. "Well Officer Richard Anders...."
she cast a sideways glace at Jason before she opened her palms to the rain again stopping mid sentence she seemed to be distracted for a moment. The hot pain that was radiating from her shoulder blades was becoming harder to tolerate.

Giving herself a moment to adjust to the uncomfortable sensation she swallowed before continuing. "I have heard that God is in the rain....what do you think of that?" she cocked her head to the side and looked up at him, rain streaming down her face and off her nose and chin.

He smiled gently at her,

"It is safe in the rain, I am much more worried about you getting sick when the cold sets in."

Her question and actions caught him a bit unaware, but he felt that he could answer her truthfully without being judged.

"I believe that God is everywhere, He created all and everything in creation is His, so He is especially in nature and that means that He is in the rain as well."

Nikita stepped toward the officer and studied his eyes for a long moment a puzzled smile in her lips. "I think you must be right" She said moving long strand of dripping hair from her line of sight.

She seemed to suddenly take notice of the badge and a look of concern crossed her face and she seated herself rather gracelessly on the ground leaning against the building. "Are you going to have me locked away?" she asked looking up at him with pleading eyes. She was in no condition to run from law enforcement and she supposed, from the pain she was having a more difficult time ignoring, that medical care was advisable.

"I don't care for locks or cages" she said matter of factly opening her palm to look at the little puddle of water that collected there.
"they tend to keep one from the rain"
