"YOU'RE the one who crafted my mother's lycanthropy locket?" she asked with a raised eyebrow, holding it, delicately. She looked at her friend being dragged away, kicking and screaming.

"I am sorry. I will get you out," she said, promising that through their mental link.

"It's a frowned upon branch, but arcane nonetheless," he said dismissively. "Now, what should we do while my boys are off gathering spell components for me?" he said, motioning towards Isep's screams and moans.

"You know what I mean. The information I got from Edioz basically said you never met with them, that you were always one step ahead. And yet, here I am. Of course, I can't ask my parents, since they're both dead."

"I needed something just in case she was useful, so I left an item in one of my hoards for her to find," he said, "Never underestimate the power of planning ahead, my girl."

"They didn't find the necklace, unless Edioz lied to me. He said they all pitched in money for this when she caught lycanthropy," she insisted, fingering the locket.

"Edioz is many things, but he is not a liar," he said, "I enchanted it with a memory spell as another red herring."

"You sly bastard. And you never found my mother to be of use? Nor my father?" she asked, with a raised eyebrow.

"Information came to me at such time that it was no longer viable," he said. "You, however, will indeed help me in getting rid of Ashglow and Silverblade."

"Not that I hold any love for them, but, besides the fact that you currently hold me and my friend hostage, give me one good reason why I should help you," Al'ika said, crossing her arms.

"It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of necessity," he said. "I need a host for this, and someone attuned to blue magic is a must."

"I may have beaten Isep, but she's still the stronger blue mage. I'm an arcane mage first and foremost," she said. "And what do you mean by necessity?"

"I aim to combine the spirit of a succubus wit a living host," he said, "Then turn it loose against my enemies."

"See, this is why I needed to use force on you," he said, "I need a weapon that Ashglow will definitely try to sleep with, and from all rumors, you;re his primary target."

"I simply stole the captain of the guard from him and rescued Fletcher's daughter from the pits of his castle. That's all," Al'ika said, shrugging. "Not my problem that she is my friend and he fell for me. You're still not casting that spell on me. I will not have it."

"Um, that's actually more or less the reason why it will work," he said, "I'm now only one ingredient away from having it complete thanks to your friend's recent contribution."

"If only it were that easy for you," he said, "I didn't come all the way here to gather cheap parlor tricks. This is more than just a binding spell for the body."

"You're doing a binding to the soul? Don't you realize that if I can't control it, that could kill me?" she said, sputtering. "That's an incredibly rare piece of magic even demon mages don't do."
