Darting quickly through the opening back into the dark forest. I knew that we must get this shapeshifter quickly. I knew the way ahead was blocked to the North and East, by cliffs. If we could force the monster to the west....

"Keaah, stay here. We will drive it back towards you. Watch your back. Come with me M'love."

Quickly changing direction to force the shapeshifter in a circle into our trap.

Staying back with Keaah to help him in any way she could. Jaza made sure to have her dagger's ready, should she need them. Making sure to watch the tree's and shadow's around them, she watched as Harald ran contiued on with the other's. To help trap the shape shifter.

As the human male ran by, I managed to trip him as an arrow whizzed by where his head would have been.

"There are more than one of them" I hissed, as I scurried from him. "I mean you no harm, I am a friend. My name is Maddel. Follow me."

Moving steadily into the woods, stopping behind a big tree, looking upon two of them, hiding unaware of our presence. Drawing my bow back, the arrow shot swiftly towards my target, instantly killing my intended victim as it hit it behind the ear.

Keeah:

I kept my bow ready, as my comrades moved ahead of us. I was glad for the company of the beautiful village woman. I wanted to talk with her, and to know more about her, but now was a time for silence. She was possibly the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and my thoughts kept straying to her.

"Keep your back to mine, we will need to protect each other" I whispered.

Jaza

Nodding to Keeah so that he new that she understood what he had said. She moved to place her back to his.

Jaza was very curious about the elv next to her, remembering that just the other day when she had gone to the pond.
That she had been wondering if they existed or not... well her question had been awncered.

There was also Harald to consider.. he seemed interested in her as well but she was unsure as he had made no move nor had he said aught of how he felt, but for now there were other matter's to attend to.

Whispering quietly between panting for air I ask Fineous, "M'lord where did this shapeshifter come from? Are there more.... or is he the only one?"

Moving as quickly and as quietly as I can following Fineous through the underbrush, dodging swinging branches. Trying to keep up with M'Lord, fantasticed with the way he moved so gracefully as he slipped and moved through the brush as if it wasn't an obstical.

"There are many. Hopefully only a few have found there way her M'lady. They can take the shape of nearly anything, and are thus very deadly." Spinning her towards me, and kissing her quickly on the lips,"I will not let them harm a hair on your beautiful head, fear not."

I feel that you are troubled for your sister. Keeah is my best friend, as well as comrade. He will look after your sister well."

"There" My arrow streaks towards what appears to be a wounded elf, it catches him in the neck, and brings it to the ground. Quickly running to where the elf went down, we discover what actually appears to be a cross between a lizard and a man. The scaley hide on the creature is smeared with blood, and the various scars, speak as to what type of life this creature had led.

"Look upon a shapeshifter."

Keeah:

Hearing a commotion up ahead where our comrades had gone, I turned my head slightly to take a quick look. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something bearing down on Jaza. Spinning sharply, I quickly let loose an arrow. The speed of the creature, and my not having time to aim, caused my arrow to strike the creature in the front arm. It appeared as a giant leopard, but I knew it to be a shapeshifter.

My arrow while not killing it, threw the creature off balance. It rolled across the clearing. My next arrow did the trick, cleanly taking the creature through the neck.

"Careful, there are more about. They normally travel in groups."

Just as the word's left Keeah's mouth. Jaza saw another lepard jumping out of the tree above him.
Running forward Jaza lanched herself at Keeah knocking them both to the ground so that the lepard just barly missed them.

For a moment locking eye's with Keeah there was nothing else but the two of them..., Jaza new better tho there was no time for this. Shaking herslef she quickly got off of Keeah.

Rolling to her feet and moving out of Keeah's way so that he had a clear shot at the lepard.. as it came charging straight at her.

The leopards charge carried him straight towards Jaza. I knew I had but one shot at the beast. My arrow sped true towards the beast, and caught it in the mouth, passing into the creatures brain. The speed and force of the arrow, actually caused the beast to tumble backwards.

I could tell that the woman Jaza was frightened, yeah any sane man or woman would be so. I stepped quickly to her side, and wrapped my arms around her.

"Be not afraid, I am here to guard you. I thank you for your quick action, you have saved my life." I whispered softly in her ear. Her hair was so soft as it softly brushed my cheek.

Shaking Jaza smiled she was greatful for Keeah's arm's around her for she was frightend. Turning in his arm's she looked up at him.

Thank you... , and you are welcome. It seem's we've saved each other's live's.

Looking into his eye's Jaza's body begain to shiver for very diffrent reasion's, as she noticed that his mouth was not all that far from her own.

Slowly stepping back she begain looking around for the dagger's she had lost when she had knocked Keeah down.

Keeah:

My senses reeled as I looked briefly into Jaza's eyes. So beautiful, I thought, her lips so close to mine...Abruptly she spun away to find her dagger. Do I disgust her? The feelings she inspires in me, are so wonderful. I feel I could destroy all the shapeshifters myself, yet she seems to want no part of me. I will make it my duty to protect this woman at all costs, my life be damned.

"My lady, here is your dagger" I spoke as I bent to retrieve it from under a bush.

Taking the dagger from Keeah Jaza said Thank you .... and blushing she left her hand in his. Looking down so that he didnt see the passion's he was arising in her..

She didnt understand these new feeling's, and wasnt sure if he felt the same.

He was here to protect her, and not more. What would an elv want with a lowly human such as herself.. tho his lord Finious seemed taken with her sister it did not mean that all elve's would feel the same.

Her hand felt so soft and warm in mine, as I handed her back her dagger. I was in no hurry to break the contact with this beautiful young maiden. Although she gazed down, I could see red flush her cheeks.

"M'Lady, I pledge to guard your life with mine own, fom this day hence" I said as I gently lifted her chin with my hand. "Eyes as beautiful as yours, should never look down." My hand slowly squeezed her hand as I spoke these words.

Smiling Jaza looked up into his face... standing on her tip toes and kissed him lightly wishing it could have been more

.. i welcome your protection, and you need not worrie that i would ask more of you than that. Unless you so choose. Come we should get back to searching the area for shape shifter's we dont know how manny are left, and the fire is spreading.

*the tree's screams draw her to this place...invisible, a shadow in shadows, cloaked by the enchantment of her kin she stares downward, silver moonlight reflected in black...a pool...broken ripples on water as a tear steals from her dark eyes...long thick eyelashes hide from her the sight, yet the foul stench of death hangs heavy in the air...*

Looking upon the creature laying in a heap upon the forest floor brought shivers to my spine... I almost felt sorry for it and then thought how it could have been us laying there instead of him which frightened me more...
"M'Lord if there are more then I wish to be with my sister. I want her close, tho I know your man is with her and she should be safe. I would feel greatly better if I were to see her with my own eyes, to know it is true.."

Looking around I pick up a broadened stick and begin moving brush out of my way... Looking for a spot to bury this poor soul. Not wanting to leave it just laying here for the predators to come across it. Tho knowing it is the law of nature, I could not just leave it. Making a small hole with my makeshift shovel and shoving the body into it. Quickly covering it with the loose dirt and some rocks I had found while digging the shallow grave.
Looking to Fineous, " It is not the best grave but it should do for now. It would be best if we look for your man and my sister now, with others out and about I do not want to be away from them long..."

Reaching up to place a long loving kiss upon Fineous's lips. Before looking up into his wonderous eyes.. Seeming to fall into them as I await his responce to my boldness.

I watched in wonder as M'Lady buried the evil creature. How could one person have so much compassion. My love for her grew even greater, as I helped bury the creature.

"M'Lady, I am indeed a lucky man to be in your presence. the Gods have indeed smiled upon me, when I first met you. We will indeed go find your sister."

Back tracking to where we had just come from, we found Keeah, and Jaza withseveral dead creatures.

"Let us bury these quickly. It is already getting late in the day, and we will need shelter soon. I wonder what happened to Harald?"

After helping to bury the dead. Jaza told her sister what had happend including her growing feelings for Keeah, and that she was unsure as to how he felt, but was afraid to ask.

Hearing Lord Finious comment about Harald she said. M' Lord...The last i saw of Harald he had followed after you... We've not seen him sence..., and we've no time to search for him the fire is spreading quickly.

Looking around in the direction that the fire was spreading Jaza noticed that they were actually quite close to the village.

In the distance she could hear the sounds of the villager's trying to put out the fire before it spread too far.

She hadnt noticed the sounds before nor the area, because they had been fighting, and burying the dead... Looking to her sister she said. The Village.

Keeah:


Looking in the direction that has captured the ladies attention, I notice the village. My heart sinks knowing that soon this most wonderful woman will be leaving me, perhaps forever.

With my heart in my throat I speak. "M'lady, your village is near, my head tells me that you must return, although my heart speaks otherwise. You are the fairest maiden, I have ever seen, and your heart is full of compassion. It would fill me with great joy if you would remain with me."

Hearing Keeah's word's made Jaza's heart flutter her feelings for him shinning in her eyes. Lauging she threw her arm's around him saying. Yes yes i would love to stay with you if your sure you would have me. Forgetting about the fire for the moment. She stood on her tiptoes and Kissed him.

Smiling she steped back, leaving her hand in his.. We must hurry if we are to help the village tho..we will just have to do our best to avoid our step mother.

Sasya

Dread filled Sasya as they slowly made their way to the village. Knowing her and Jaza's step mother would have a fit if she seen them.

Holding tightly to M'Lord's hand praying that we would remain hidden, yet knowing that was not possiable if they were to put out the fire. Tho it would not hurt my feelings to see my step mothers home go up in flames. It would bother me if any of the other town folk got hurt from it.

"M'Lord please promise me if anything should happen, you will take Jaza and run with her. Take her as far away as you can so that my step mother does not harm her. I will come to you if I can, I do not wish to leave your side ever. But if worse comes to worse it is she that would be hurt the most. I could not tolerate that happening to her."

Looking into Fineous's eyes I let my heart show as well as the tears forming there, before reaching up to kiss him softly. Wanting our kiss to last a lifetime for I feared that it just might have to.

Her kiss lingered for a long moment upon my lips.

"Fear not My love, I will not let anything or anyone harm you, or seperate you from me. I have vowed that it will be that way forever, and I am a man of my word. Let us help those villagers."

Moving towards the town togive what aid I could.

"Yes yes i would love to stay with you if your sure you would have me"

Her words rang through my ears, as she reached up tp kiss me. How I longed to take her in my arms and kiss her with all my might, but I knew that now was not the proper time.

"Let us hurry to help the villagers, and fear not about your step mother, I am pledged to you, and I will not let her harm even a hair on your head."

Leaning in quickly, I kiss you gently on the lips, before taking your hand in mine and running towards the village. My heart as free as a bird.

Reaching the village... things looked alot worse than they were for people were running everywhere in a panic.. The fire had spread to only a few of the house's closest to the forrest...

Quickly running to the well in the center of town grabbing up some of the buckets that were not already in use, and filling them. She begain handing them off to who ever was nearest.

Just as one bucket was full another was handed to her...Jaza continued to fill the buckets as people brought them too her. Giving only a breif thought to their step mother as she contiued to work.
