Joel West was a hard man, he had to be. Being a single father to a teenager? You had no choice somedays, not that she made his life difficult or anything. Its just she was a girl, he had never been on of those and her trails and hardships were hard to decipher in his male brain. Of course though she and him a had a fairly good relationship, as far as he knew.

He worked as a freelance journalist, so he was often home hunch over some kind of electronic device. The modern world made it so easy to convay information, he was surprised to find out he could even do it over his cell phone. His eyes glared at the screen of his laptop behind his rectangular wire frames, he just didn't know how to start this one. When the door suddenly slamed.

"Tabby?" He called out. "You home?" He made move to stand, but then his study door opened.
