Favorite holiday music

I love anything by Manheim Steamroller, and I also like Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I love all holiday music. I think it's great. Really puts you in a happy mood. Except I don't really like the songs where kids sing them, a but creepy.

Just for you Scalywag.

- Kevin Bloody Wilson Lyrics - Christmas Song Lyrics

Hey Santa claus you cunt!

Where's me fucking bike?

I've unwrapped all this other junk and there's nothing that I like.

I wrote you a fucking letter and I come to see you twice

Ya worn out geriatric fart, you forgot me fucking bike.

If I wanted a pair of bloody thongs, I'd have bloody asked.

And this cowboy suit and ping pong set you can shove right up your arse!

You've stuffed me bloody order up

It's enough to make you spew

And I'm not the only one who's snakey

Me sisters dirty too!

(female voice)
Hey santa clause you cunt!

Where's me fucking pram?

You promised me you'd bring me one, you remember who I am.

'Cause I'm the little girl who you made sit right on your hand

I'll give you fucking ho ho ho

You forgot me fucking pram

(male voice)
Next time I come to see ya, I'm gonna punch you in the guts

And I'll let your fucking reindeer go and kick Rudolf in the nuts!

You just wait 'till next year, when you go to that store

And me and me little sister, come stomping through the door

And we'll say, yeah you wait for it

Hey mums and dads you smell his breath and check his bloodshot eyes

And don't listen to him boys and girls 'cause he tells fucking lies

He's just a piss tank and a pervert, and he's not even very bright

'Cause the old fucking wanker Forgot me fucking bike.

You wait you old cunt, I'm gonna dob you in

Tell me old man on you, he's gonna punch your fucking lights out

"I saw mummy sucking santa clause"

The Twelve Days of Christmas

On the FIRST day of Christmas,

Two snakes on skis,
And a kookaburra in a gum tree.

I'm going to think a little about this before I post my likes, but I will say that I detest anything by the Chipmunks,

In my car stereo right now....to be followed by A VeggieTales Christmas. Christmas is for kids, after all, isn't it?

My favorite grown up Christmas CD would have to be We Three Kings by The Roches. It contains the world's best harmonies, in my opinion.

But keep in mind that I'm one of those nut jobs that turns on the all Christmas music station on the day after Thanksgiving and doesn't turn it off until December 26th. Drives my family nuts...which is half the pleasure. :D

Hey, Yankster. Good idea for a thread. :)

Hey, GG. Thanks. It's good to see you. :)

I'm going to have to look for that Roches CD; they've become one of my favorite groups for contemplative listening.

And I will admit here, publicly, for all to read, that I also have my car radio set to that all-Christmas music station and I only switch over to NPR when I know that the overly esoteric and mildly obtuse shows are on. :D

You? The original midwest grinch? Something good must be happening in your corner of the world for you to be embracing the Christmas season. I seem to remember a lot of "bah-humbug-ing" last year about this time.

I'm glad for you.

Merry Christmas :)

Merry Christmas to you, too, GG. In all candor, though, it has not been a very good year here and outwardly I don't have much reason for feeling the seasonal joy. Yet it's here and, as you said, that's a bit rare so I'm doing what I can to make the most of it.

Now that I know that the Roches album is available online, I'm going to check around locally to see if I can get a copy quickly.

Well, whatever the reason, I hope you enjoy your holidays.

Good luck finding that CD. I have it on cassette and downloaded my new copy. I've not ever looked for it retail, but I'm sure if it's out there, you'll find it.

Two more of my favorites:

December, by George Winston

The Gift, by Eric Tingstad

The Tingstad album is no longer available new in any format, which is a shame because it's simply beautiful. Guitar is the primary instrument in this collection, but some beautiful oboe work gives some of the more contemplative songs a very prayerful voice.

The Twelve Days of Christmas by the Muppets. (What can I say, I just love the muppets.)

God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman by Bare Naked Ladies.

I aint getting nothing for christmas because I aint been nothing but bad abnd These are a few of my favorite things.

I applaud your enthusiasum to overcome the struggles of the past year and look forward. May the season bring you more joy and best wishes for next year too!
Sorry, but I missed this yesterday. Thanks very much.

I spent some time yesterday thinking about why it's so much easier to enjoy the holiday season this year than it has been in recent years. Even though this has been a very tough year, I think that the answer lies in focus. Right after Thanksgiving I picked out a few gifts for people close to me, which was a lot earlier than usual. Now I keep thinking of more gifts that I'd like to get for friends and family and perhaps it's that focus on giving that made the turnaround. And then yesterday I found the perfect gift online for a friend who lives some distance away and it just felt great to place that order.

Last year that same friend suggestd that perhaps I'd lost my connection to the meaning of the season and there was much wisdom in that. Now that I've regained my joy of giving, it's starting to feel a lot like Christmas. :)

Sorry Yank, most Christmas music drives me up a wall. All except the most traditional of Christmas carols done very traditionally. I am a bit of a curmudgeon when it comes to Christmas music.

However, I do agree wholeheartedly on The Messiah. But that is music that should be listened to at all times of the year. Some of the happiest memories I have are of singing the chorales. Thanks for the reminder!

so i guess the CD of the dogs barking jingle bells isnt going to be in your christmas stocking... :p

That's very thoughtful, DLL. One of my other traditions is to give away something that I receive at Christmas. Now I know what I will be able to put in the Salvation Army bucket on Christmas Eve. :D

Coffee? I once saw a post of yours that describes what you do to coffee. Sorry, but I will never be seen in the company of someone who does illegal, immoral, unethical, and simply wrong things to one of the world's finest beverages.
