Favorite Lit Load Pass times?
Ok - Clearly I am spoiled. (No - not SOILED - quite sniffing me...)
Back when you had to turn on the lights by striking a spark into fine tinder and then blow on it to create a flame, Matches were a godsend. Now, we hit the light switch, and find it aggravating when it takes a few seconds (count with me, one one-thousand, two one-thousand) for a compact florescent to begin to glow.
The internet now brings world wide connectivity to our homes, stunning images, truths that once had to be filtered by travelers and passed from hand to hand to make it around the globe now flash from one point to another in an instant.
Lit, however, continues to remind us of a simpler time, then we wrote on paper, licked a stamp, and sent our greetings off and patiently waited a return. But we (or at least me) have clearly lost that patient perspective, and the time it takes for a Lit message to travel feels like the same eternal darkness imposed by those pokey compact florescent glow worms.
I Like the little spinning wheel, but if I watch it too long, my eyes cross, making me even less attractive, so impatience and my guilt ridden upbringing have forced me to find a host of micro-activities to enjoy while waiting to the next lit thread, or PM to post.

And still here I am, because for all my impatience, it is the only place like this place anywhere near this place and I really enjoy it.

- Cell Phone Sudoku
- Calling my Mother, and hanging up before she answers if the thread opens.
- Surfing tumblr
- Answering work e-mails on my work lap top (why do you always seem to trail off into non-coherence after the first 2-3 lines of your e-mails?)
- Thinking about what I will write when the window opens (not always good)
- Biting my nails (almost never good, but I have this fixation)
- Mindless zombie killing games like Rebuild 2 (I like zombies better than eating my own fingers...)
- making lists of things I should be doing instead of reading lit
And still here I am, because for all my impatience, it is the only place like this place anywhere near this place and I really enjoy it.
