So I've struggled with the rating of my last story. But sometimes it only takes one person to make a writer see things differently.

Just one person's feedback can make a difference. Today I received an email with personal feedback. In just a few words I felt completely different.

One person telling a writer that a story was their favourite on the site. Those positive words just changed everything for me. Trolls bring you down, but just one real positive comment can take you higher than you were before.

The power of positivity wins every time. So if you're reading this remember how much your positive reviews can lift a writer. Taking that time to send a few positive words will help.

Thank you to those who think positively.

Happy writing, happy reading.

What is it mum said to me, if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.

When I'm struggling with a story, I take a break and go read all my old feedback messages. Gets me started up again right away. I don't think readers realize how much power they hold in just being complimentary to their favorite authors. Or how much power people have in just handing out random nice thoughts, generally.

I usually don't check out the forums but I saw your post and thought I'd chime in. I love it when I get feedback- it sort of makes it worthwhile, you know? So its extra special when you get an email from someone who really likes what you've written.

I have gotten them from time to time, but not for a while. Not everyone is supposed to 'get it' even when we think its pretty obvious what we're trying to get across. Like me, I'm basically writing masturbation material for the reader. I'm not interested in writing 'the classics' but if my stories serve their purpose for at least one person I'm happy. Whether they write an email, a comment or whatever- people are adding you as favorite writers, or your particular stories a favorites, so that's always fun to see.

I don't write for ratings, though I'd be lying if I said I didn't check to see if they went up or down from time to time. I also check for comments as well. But I just try to write as sexy a story as I can, sexy and erotic. If it turns ME on then it should do the same for some others as well. And imho you should write for YOURSELF first. Write the storied you want to see, read and enjoy.

Being a man, I can make the mistake of being a little too graphic from time to time but I will get comments like 'You put the sex in a sex story' which makes me happy. So that being said- it is really a mistake? After all I gave the people I am writing for exactly what they came to my little corner of literotica for.

Should be the same for you. Write what you love and people will eventually find you.

If someone loves a thing you worked hard on, it’s being seen. Most of us don’t need or want the sort of scrutiny of having everyone get us, and if the wrong sorts do we start to worry.

But nobody? That’s really fucking lonely.

I value all of the “thanks for noticing me” responses I get but it’s the “that’s exactly what I was going for” relief ones that hit the hardest.
