Odin

Gritting his teeth with anger, he turned, and ran after the thief. His feet pounded on the pavement, following after the thief, His fingers curled around the hilt of his sword. He had tried the nice approach.

Now it was the seek-and-destroy approach. It was what he was familiar with. Keep the target in sight, don't let it outsmart you, and, whatever you do, never hesitate.

"Thief! I will get you!"

Teal grinned at the man's angry outbursts. This was always his favorite part. The man was big and strong, but Teal had an advantage. This was his town and he had home field advantage.

He ran past a grouping of stone buildings before he looked behind him. The man was gaining quite quickly. The fact that the man could equal his speed even with all that armor was a little unnerving, but Teal knew he won't need to run much further.

He knew which houses were made of stone and which were made of less durible wood. He saw the building he wanted just ahead of him. It was a large weapon shop with some fruit vendor carts parked out front. Perfect.

He began to sprint as fast as he could go. He ran in between the people walking down the street until he reached a melon vending cart. He saw a plank of wood lying against the front of it. Using all his energy, he ran up the plank, jumped up onto the canopie above the cart, and used the bounce he recieved to get some good height into the air. He quickly dug out his twin daggers and drove them into the wood. They held his weight and kept him suspended in the air.

Teal looked down at the suprised faces and found his chaser. "Hey down there! Don't you wish you could do this with your knife?" He laughed out loud as he scaled the side of the building up to the rooftops.

She rounded the corner in time to see the thief bounce off a canopy above a door and work his way towards the roof.

Before she could stop herself, her anger overtook her senses, and she found herself gesturing towards the thief and speaking in the odd-sounding tongue familiar to all mages. A blue bolt of lightning arced forth and stuck the wall above the man, scorching the wood and surprising him to the point of losing his hold. He fell to the street landing on his back. He lay there, stunned.

She continued towards him, but at a slower pace. He wouldn't be going anywhere for the next several minutes.

Teal blinked a couple times. The mage. He forgot the mage. He tried to move but he found he couldn't. Pain seared through his body. That fall probably broke something.

He soon felt the shadows of the mage and the man looming above him. He gulped and tried to give his most charismatic smile.

"Hee hee...uh...G-good job there. I must say I did not expect lightning. Hee hee..." Teal said uneasily. Neither seemed to be affected. "Well, uh, I give up." He tossed the pouches in front of them. "Here's your money back..." The man picked the gold off the ground, but they didn't leave.

"Now...are you going to give me an excuse not to kill you?" he asked in a demanding tone.

"Uh...I have three kids?" Teal tried. That didn't sway them. "Well you can't blame me for trying."

"Let's turn him over to the guards." The mage said. "They can deal with them as they see fit."

"Hey! NO! Hey! Not the guards!" Teal yelled. "C'mon! This is just a misunderstanding! You don't need to...OW!" He yelled as the man lifted him by the back of the neck.

"C'mon, you hoodwink." The man growled, dragging Teal behind him.

Odin

Odin was, in a word, pissed. Had to run after a god-damned thief who stole what little money he had gotten from selling the last of his armor. He was not happy. As he dragged the thief along, a sudden idea struck him. Had he robbed anyone else that day?

Well, it would certainly be a good idea to make sure the little prick didn't have any weapons. "Well, mister thief, seeing as how you've caused us so much grief, why don't we see if you've robbed anyone else today, hmmm?"

Teal froze when the man asked if he had stolen any more money. This didn't bode well. Except maybe....

"Yeah." Teal said. He dug out three pouches of gold. "Not a substantial amount, though. And these people will be impossible to track down in a city this side. Either I should kepp 'em or you should."

Tha mage gave him an odd look and teal hoped they would take the money. Then he might be able to make a plausible alibi for the guards. It might be his one ticket out of this mess. C'mon....take the gold.

"I think we should take the gold." The man said.

Suckers!

Odin

"I think we should take the gold." he said. He turned to the mage. "It will be good to have some proof to show to the guards. And if we leave them on him, he'll probably manage to get rid of them before we get there. Of course, it's all up to you. After all, it's only because of you we managed to catch him at all."

"You carry it." She turned to the thief. "You don't try anything funny."

She leaned close to him and spoke in a low voice so that only he could hear. "I'm not in the best of moods right now, so if you do try something stupid," Her voice suddenly grew fierce, "I won't miss again."

She straightened and addressed Odin. "Let's go. The constabulary's this way.

Odin

He took the pouches, and began dragging the thief along again. He took pleasure in making sure that the thief was not at all comfortable as he dragged the man along.

He made sure to keep an eye on the thief, no way was he going to get out of this. He wondered what the town's punishment for stealing was.

There were two large men outside of the constabulary, each with a dark look on their face. Teal gulped and tried to squirm out of the man's (Odin, was his name?)arms but to no avail.

They reached the two guards and the man pushed Teal into the guards' arms. "This is a thief. He tired to rob us earlier." Odin said. "Here are some pouches from others he has robbed."

"Look, it's just a misunder-" Teal started, but the guard pushed the blue hair from the boy's face.

"Wait a minute...I know you! Valandil Ancalime!"

"I have no idea what you are..."

"The Elven thief we've been hunting for!" He pushed the hair from his hidden ears, revealing points at the ends.

"Oh goblin fodder..." Teal grumbled.

"We've been hunting him for three years! He's managed to elude our grasp every time!"

"C'mon! You guys are jokes! Maybe if you didn't put all your money into raising up that huge army, you could support some of the poor people in this stupid city!"

"Shut up!" One guard growled and punched Teal in the stomach. The boy coughed and doubled over. The other guard tied his arms up. The first guard turned back to Odin and Kitty.

"You two have done us a great service." He said. He handed them a slip of paper with an official seal. "This will get you free stay at the inn and free food anywhere in town. I hope this will do for compensation, as we do not have a lot of money available."

"Yeah! Because you need the money for your attack on Pontera to go succ-" Teal was cut off as the back of a metal gauntlet slapped across his face.

"I said shut up!" The guard growled to the boy.

"What will happen to him?" Kitty asked.

"Well jail time seems to have no effect on this one. He's been there twice. I think execution is the only logical step."

"Execution?" Odin said.

"Yes. Public hanging, i think. We will schedule it for tomorrow so he has no time to break out again. You may come watch if you like." The guard smiled. "Anyway, please enjoy your stay." The two guards dragged the thief into the constabulary. Teal shot them a nasty look before he disappeared into the building.

Odin

After the guards had dragged the thief away, Odin turned to Kitty. "Execution?" He looked back at the building, and shrugged. "Tomorrow morning,...."

Execution seemed a little harsh. Well, tomorrow morning seemed like a good enough time to leave town. He pushed those thoughts aside, and turned back to the mage.

"So, what now?"

IC: Mountins, great mountins, and the village is just on the other side. As I walk forward tired but to lazzy to quit and die, one could see my spirit was damage but not from the fight I just lost but from something further before that. "Life is dull."

Re: Odin

The GrandMage said:

"So, what now?"

"Hold on a second." She dropped her head and rubbed her forehead. Something the thief had said had stuck a chord with her, and apparently Odin had missed the reference.

"What did they call him... Valandil. He said something about the elves being involved in the attack on Prontera."

"Ehr..."

"Don't you remember? It was right after that guard handed you that pass."

He glanced at the slip of paper still in his hand. "Oh, yeah. I remember now."

She shook her head. "Dammit. Somebody here knows something, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let them keep it from me like this. This is important."

Odin sighed heavily. "So... what are you gonna do?"

"I can't let this pass without doing something. I'm going to have to try to break Valandil out, or else stop the execution somehow."

Odin shrugged. "I don't know. Making an enemy of the elves-"

"You don't have to help. I would appreciate it though. It would make things a lot easier."

He shook his head. "I don't know."

"We still have almost a full day. You can decide later." She stretched and rubbed her eyes again. "Let's go get some rest," she said with a tired sigh.

He followed along after her, glancing up at the sky. He sighed, and quickened his pace, walking alongside her and speaking in a quiet voice.

"Well, I wasn't about to let his get executed anyway. If we're going to do this, we should do it in the morning, at the execution. We'll have to get away quickly, though. A mass diversion would be good, and I think you'd be best equiped to cause a riot at the event. I can grab him, and we can get gone."

"Today though, we should keep low profile. Go to our appointment, use the pass we were given. Act all happy about ourselves." He sighed again, dropping back a few steps, and muttered to himself, "And I don't even have any armor..."

Teal sat dejectedly in his jail cell. Well, this is just perfect. He was going to sit here and rot until tomorrow when he'd be executed. I guess he shouldn't have pressed his luck and gone for the fighter's money.

Suddenly, someone walked up to the wooden bars in the jail cell. He poked his head in, staring at Teal.

"Valandil, correct?"

"Who's asking?"

"My name is Diaz. The mayor sent me over."

"With a pardon, I'm hoping?"

"No such luck. I came to find out what you know about our attack plan on Pontera. It is classified and I want to know who told you."

"Tell me? How dumb do you think I am? I'm not as ignorant as everyone else in this town. Money pouring into a central pot without any knowledge of where it's going, soldier training increasing, mass weapon creation. Crescent Lake is definitly attacking someone."

"How did you know it would be Pontera?"

"It's small and not totally allied with Corneria, so they wouldn't pay it mind when it falls. Instead, it would give you a good vantage point in which to attack the cornarian alliance." Teal shrugged. "My question is; why now? Why not earlier?"

"This talk is over." Diaz growled. "You will be executed early tomorrow morning, Valandil. Don't get comfortable."

"Don't worry, thats virtually impossible here." Teal called after him.

IC: As I finished my walk out of the moutins I had a full vantage of the city. "Dosen't look like it's on fire. Thats a good thing right?" I lowered my head and walked down towards it tired as usal. Ha prehaps I would have more fun if I fallowed the ogres.

Odin

Once again, he moved forward, passing the mage and waving the pass as he looked at her. "I'm gonna go us a couple of rooms at the Inn. We're gonna need some rest. Big events planned for tomorrow."

He turned, and walked on through the crowd, eventually making it to the Inn. He looked at the paper he'd been given before walking in and talking to the innkeeper.

"Hey, I'm gonna need a couple of rooms," he said, showing the innkeeper the paper.

"A couple?"

"I'm travelling with a black mage."

"Oh."

"Yeah, well, I'm gonna go up and clean myself up." he said, taking the paper back as he headed upstairs, drawing his family blade, the Zantetsuken, and checking the edge of the blade.

IC: I was in the small Inn of the town. "I'll be here one or two nights." I always had plenty of cash on hand despite my current status. I might as well waste the money staying here. Still it wasn't home.

My hand bumped my side. I glanced down to my side. A smile came to my lips as I relised my gold was gone. I looked around the room for him but he wasn't here. The feeling of being at home was gone, once more.

"Never mind." I walked out of the Inn. I will find some place to sleep the night away.

...Next day...

I awake in the courtyard. Something must be going on but what? I stood up off the grass covered ground. Hey what do you know I got front row seating at a public exicution. "Gosh, I hope they aren't killing any one I know." I smile a litle at my own joke, after all no one else would.

Despite the fact exicutions in public are normally quite barbaric, I must suport them in this troubled time. With war all around us it's important people have somethings to boost morals and help them maintain order in the streets. Besides I wounder if he will tip the exicutioner or if this person is so low on cash he won't. I know if I was on the block I'd tip him so he gets it in one swing.

Teal

Teal felt a pair of hands give him a good shove. He stumbled a few feet and tried to keep his balance. He glared at the guard behind him, but kept walking. The manacles were very tight on his wrists.

The wooden stairs creaked beneath his steps as he walked up to the platform. Teal walked slowly to the center. A guard shoved him down and pressed his head against the wood stump.

"You are being executed for evading the law and performing petty theft a numerous amount of times." The head guard said. "How do you plead?"

"Does it make a difference?" Teal asked sarcastically. The guard frowned at the boy's insolence and guestured to the executioner.
"You are sentenced to death by beheading."

A big man with a mask and large axe walked over. Teal's eyes searched frantically around the crowd that had gathered. Many were cheering for his death. He looked for anyone who might help him. His eyes scanned the crowd until he saw the fighter and black mage from earlier and oddly enough, a few feet away from them was a familiar red mage. Could it be...?

Odin

He didn't remember most of the night. He remembered cleaning his blade, getting something to eat, and sleeping. It was all a blur. Now here they were. He turned to Kitty.

"Alright. I'll go get the thief, why, I'm not sure. You make a distraction."

He turned, and began walking towards the platform, as if he wanted a better look. This was insane. He smiled. At least it would be interesting. He began to draw his sword as he approached the platform.

This could be fun.

She closed her eyes and spoke a few short words in a muted tone. Invisible gas poured forth from her hands. The few people around her who had gathered to watch the execution dropped to the ground, fast alseep.

"Damn the-" One of the guards exclaimed just before the gas reached them. Soon the only ones awkae in the town square were Kitty and Odin.

"We should go. Right now."

Odin picked up the thief and heaved him onto his shoulder. "What now?"

"Out of town. We could be arrested for this."

OOC: Damn it, I was going to use the sleep spell. Also star it may not matter but I liked your last two pics better then this one.

IC: I stood there in the crowd waiting for something to happen. They brought up the man and my jaw fell open. It was him. "Those sons of bitches are going to exicute that son of a bitch." I said that more to myself then any one else.

I now head mix feelings. What the hell should I do? Should I leave and not watch this, should I watch this? Do I help him do I jump up there and swing the axe myself. He certenly deserves to be punished, he is an ass hole and all. But should he be exicuted?

As I pondered his predictament they asked how he pleaded. People around me started falling to the ground. I made a quick decision and fell to the ground as well. I covered my face with my red cloack. God I hope this isn't a bane spell. Why is any one useing magic though?

From my postion on the ground I watched a person pick up Teal. His luck was certinly better then mine. It's amazeing he's alive at this point in time and here he escapes death again. The armorless fighter walks towards a black mage.

Okay now is the time to act. If I'm going to do something I best act. Now the black mage and fighter were moveing in the other direction now. I stood up and quickly chanted the words to mute. I throw my spell to the faceless girl.

The big guy turned around. Crap now I have to deal with him. Not going to beat him in a sword fight thats for sure. "You aren't takeing him I am." The fighter began to set him down and draw his sword. "Um... please." I drew mysword just incase.

Odin

It was a simple task to lift and tote the sleeping thief. He rolled his eyes when she suggested they leave. He knew that, but where to? Leaving home was looking to have been a bad decision. Oh well.

Suddenly, he heard something behind him. He turned around. There was an oddly dressed man in red, demanding the thief. Laying down the sleeping man, he drew his sword, seeing the man draw his own, though not with much confidence.

"You want to try and take him from us? I can assure you you will only taste cold steel. What do you want with this worthless thief anyway?"

Daln

IC: I point the tip of my sword into the ground and stab the earth. "No need to fight right?" I raise my hands calmly to show I'm unarmed. I slowly walk over to him. "I'm his body gaurd any ransom demandes you make have to come threw me." With hands still raised I face him. In my calmest voice I ask "Okay now what are your demands?" I then give a firm hard kick to his nuts grabing the sleeping teal and throwing him onto my shoulder.

That should keep him from runing for a while. That or he's a lot less manly then I thought. I grabed my sword as I ran threw the city. I'm getting out of here as quickly as possible. With one hand I seeth the silver blade.

As the red mage turned to run, Kitty slammed the end of her staff into his neck and pushed him to the ground. Before he was able to recover, she raised her staff high in both hands and brought it down hard on his head. He gave a grunt of pain and was still.

'All this is really starting to piss me off,' she thought to herself.

She checked Odin. He was conscious, but in too much pain to do anything other than attempt to catch his breath. She rifled through her backpack for a healing potion, and tried to help him sit up enough to drink it.

A moment later he was able to walk on his own. He nodded his thanks and approached the fallen red mage. "Who is this?"

She shook her head. "I don't know." His spell had already worn off. "What should we do about him?"

"Well, if it were up to me, I'd like to cut his throat. But considering we're already guily of interrupting an execution and kidnapping, we can't really afford a murder charge added to that."

"He's a witness, though. I think we should take him with us. Can you carry both of them?"

"Yeah." He dug a rope from his backpack and bound the red mages' hands together behind his back, then heaved him and the thief onto his shoulders. "What's our destination?"

"Horizon. Pravoka's gone, and we'll probably never be able to show our faces here again."

They quickly left the city and returned to the pass through the mountains.

"How long will that spell of yours last?" Odin asked on the way.

"Maybe another half-hour. But I can't say for sure how long he's going to be out." She gestured towards the red mage.
