Finally, a Democrat I could vote for!

Of course it is and I agree with you on that. I had a Concealed Carry permit in VA but I haven't bothered to take the course in CT since I have been up here. I never really bothered to carry when I lived in VA anyway I just liked shooting and it was a course offered at the range.

The only time I don't carry since I got my permit is at work, they don't allow concealed weapons (so it stays in the car locked in the glove box), and when I'm at home.

I figure that since I have the permit to carry, I might as well carry a weapon with me. It's not going to do me a lot of good at home in the safe if I run into a situation out somewhere.

Like the person recently near here that shot and killed a person robbing a convenience store, he was beating the clerk with a 40oz beer bottle behind the counter. He grabbed his pistol from his truck and went back in and shot the would be robber twice, killing him. when he was asked if he had anything to say he said only this (paraphrased) "If anyone out there is thinking about doing something like this, remember. You never know who is armed and willing to defend someone else."

So I always carry now.

I just hope that Palin feels good now that Kennedy got raked over the coals nearly as bad as she was. I know that was a concern of hers with the class warfare and the double standards and the main stream media and uhh yeah don't you know *WINK*

From what I hear she's busy negotiating her book deal.

You betcha!

Oh I heard. I didn't want to but I heard. My stupid Google news feed still pulls up stories about her sometimes and I hate it.

I couldn't take my gun into work either of course and because I worked so fucking much, 70 plus hours a week when I was in VA, I just never got in the habit.

So you're happy that she'll allow you to carry?

She has nothing to do with the concealed carry laws in my state.
The Senator from New York does not represent me, she represents the people of New York State, it's their approval she needs.

I don't know her other than what I've read over the past 2 days. I do know that her voting record has been 100% with the NRA, who I consider to be a bunch of headcases that claim they need automatic weapons for "hunting".. Sorry Mr. Nugent, love your music, but you're a fucking head case.

Now you're being silly. Look at the history of this thread. Starting at the 2nd post.

I've read the entire thread.

The Senator from New York has no say over my ability to carry a firearm in Florida. The only way she would is if the congress tried to revoke the concealed weapons permits in all states, which will never happen.

I'll try to summarize for you, let me know if I type too fast or use too many words consisting of more than 5 letters.

Commonfreeman likes the new Senator from New York only because she's very pro-NRA, very much a gun rights politician. She's a conservative Democrat, better known as a "Blue Dog" Democrat. He's one of the single issue idiots I was talking about in post 6, as evidenced by the article he posted while singing her praises.

I wonder if he knows that she also supports same sex marriage, stem cell research, abortion rights, SCHiP, and opposes privatization of Social Security.

But hey, she likes guns. ;)

I'm sorry can you explain it in less than 5 letters? please explain it in simpler terms. I don't agree with you, so obviously I'm not as smart as you . Is gun control a reason to not like her? Seems like there are more important issues this year

Now about that single issue voter idiocy of yours.

Ok, Mr "Everyone who does not agree with my liberal views is an idiot" answer this question for me. There is a democratic candidate who agrees with most of your liberal views but there is a catch, they believe that the Patriot Act does not go far enough and wants to expand warantless searches to include those who do not "support" the US government. Do you still vote for that candidate?

Yeah, they're always JUST LIKE US, until they get to DC and the Party gives them a choice, pay-to-play or be sent packing because you're getting zip for committee assignments and then we'll fund your primary opponent, the Republican too if we have to (Joe Leiberman)...

Since the Democrat Party is a party of single-issue coalitions, you are told to vote blindly for everyone else's priorities so they will vote for yours. After all, you're not an expert on THAT issue, and they are...

Tom Daschle took time off to write a book after his constituency fired him, which nobody purchased, but it made him an instant expert on socialized medicine and hence very valuable to Obama. You think THAT idea represents "his" former voters Democratic values in the Dakotas? No more than Claire McCaskell represented ours as soon as she arrived in DC; she turned from guns and bibles to Trotsky on a dime!

And that IS the problem in a nutshell.

It could be that you confounded him.

This one will cast the same votes as Mrs. Clinton would have.

95 more days to a "redder" America because of it.

Your example is upside down and backwards. What you mean to ask is if I would endorse a candidate who's stance on only ONE issue I agreed with. Like he or she thought that warrantless wiretapping and searches are a bad thing but their stance on every other important issue is in opposition to what I believe. Abortion should be outlawed, stem cell research is playing god, social security hould be privatized.. etc.

For example, I disagree with president Obama's stance on the use of military force to strike within the borders of another country without that country's permission. You know, like the missile strikes against suspected terrorist targets in Pakistan a couple of days ago. Obama stated without reservation that he would do this over two years ago and I feel that it is an act of war to do so. I still voted for him because the vast majority of his policies I do agree with.

See, not a single issue voter.

Your support of the new senator from New York based only because of her stance on gun control makes you a single issue kinda idiot. See the difference?

You just made my point, probably unknowingly.

There are many reasons why conservative voters would not like her. I listed quite a few. Those who do based only on her gun control stance (Commonfreeman) are idiots precisely because there are many more important issues this today, this week, this decade.

Big picture, not single issue.

Of course you did not answer my question. Nice deflection with your typical name calling thrown in. It not about one issue it’s about the priority you give to an issue. And when it comes down to ignoring the Constitution ( Of course to you and Bill Clinton, the 2nd amendment is all about deer hunting?) Certain issues like freedom of speech, freedom from search and seizures, the right to bare arms, are at the core of our political system and were placed there by Thomas Jefferson and the founding fathers for a reason. Checks and balances not only within the government but between the people and the government. But like most liberals you are willing to sell your freedom for a little bit of false security.
