Flash insight on voting chicanery

Shhhhhhh.

I'm told that site works really well. I heard it from a great source somewhere, recently.
Don't do that, please. I respect everyone who tries something new, regardless of how it turns out. I also think that the design of the website is quite interesting. But lashing out at me in such a way for pointing out things in a discussion I am participating in was just unfair. I still wish all the best to TLC.

Oh wow, you are getting personal now. And quite unfair.

I wrote what I intended to be an exclusive story for your website, all with a wish to help out and give my contribution to a fledgling story site. I submitted a story and waited for over three days. Zero response, zero acknowledgement of any kind. The site was pretty dead during that period, if I remember correctly, in the sense that no new stories were published, so you weren't exactly swamped with material.

Now, if I'm not mistaken, you started that website to do things differently compared to Lit, yet it turned out I was getting the Lit treatment all over again. So yeah, I got annoyed and canceled the submission. And that's fully on you as an admin. I mean, if you aren't taking your site seriously, why should I? Once again, I made all the effort of writing a story for your site exclusively, just to help with content. Rubbing this in my face now is more than unfair.
This is completely unfair, did you stop to consider all the time she was spending on Lit? That's way more important than running some obviously superior site, dontcha know?

There are times when posters reap what they sow.🤷‍♂️

Again, my blushes are hard to contain. But, yes, The Last Song She Wrote by @redgarters was a better story than mine and would have been a very worthy winner indeed.
Hardcore agree that The Last Song She Wrote would've been a worthy winner, though I disagree that it was "better" than yours.
Can we at least agree that The Importance of Being Beatrice is better than both?
Seconded ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️

Then I’m terribly biased 😬

And another ND-themed story for @LargoKitt 😊
You're all making me blush, thanks🥴❤️
My two bits is that ASD was a very worthy winner✨️🏆
Otherwise I'm keeping away from this thread. I'm thinking maybe (a big maybe) I'll be posting a story for the Christmas comp, but obsessing over the voting isn't going to do me any good.

So telling someone they are using AI slop is not personal? Give me a break dude.

simple logic: If there were no 1 bombing campaign, why would sweep happen and remove 1 votes?
My Halloween entry after sweep has a wonderful 23 votes so I won't even finish fourth.
I didn't even qualify.
I liked my story but no one saw it.
Anyway, my entry in the naked day contest had 67 votes removed. Yeah, 1 bombing is just a myth.
People are assholes and they are worse online. To spend that much negative energy for a lousy 150 bucks is insane to me.
And many times the winning stories make me shake my head as I don't find the story that great, better than mine but much worse than others I read. That tells me that my tastes are in the minority.

Enough of a rant, I wasted enough of your time, let's go to writing nothing ....

I think it’s worth disabusing yourself of the idea that comps reward objectively good stories.

First, who is the arbiter of objectively good? It’s all subjective surely.

Second, some wonderful stories DO place and even win. And some less than wonderful ones do the same.

Comps are not intended to be fair (Again who determines fairness? And I might loathe a story that others love. Who is right?) They are meant to be fun.

Someday you are going go make an interesting point, instead of just shitting on everyone
Should the Author's Hangout be renamed the Authors' BDSM Forum? Or maybe become an adjunct of an existing one? It does seem pretty predictable that someone9s), at some point in a thread, will be ushered into the Red Room and 'cut a new one' or some other Manner of Mild Masochism. That Schrodinger's Cat of respecting the art of Fine Smut and simultaneously putting the dunce cap on our fellow writers. Mmm, smarts so good. :p
