Flock cameras

Flock cameras are nowhere near as effective for monitoring your location as cell phone data harvested by your SIM supplier and available to law enforcement. Mast-by-mast location (plus the contents of text messages sent/received) beats a single snapshot of a car on a highway. Even on a journey of several hundred miles there will only be a handful of cameras and many of them will 'miss' a car for a variety of reasons. ALPR cameras struggle to reach 95% read-rate even in good lighting/visibility whilst cell phones are 100%.

Cameras show vehicles, not occupants.

I'm against our phones tracking us, too.

The only reason why you came out to support this stupid ass invasion of privacy and increased surveillance state is that Ann posted against it, and in your brain, if a Trump supporter says something is bad you aren't allowed to agree. If a liberal had posted about the cameras you would have been against them.

You've spent so much time being terminally online that you'd rather base your opinions from what "the other side" says than be able to find common ground with other people. Idgaf who they voted for, the working class isn't your enemy. The rich assholes that are using technology to march us into fascism are.

These cameras are selling information to ICE to help them find immigrants to harass and torture. And your desire to argue for the sake of arguing is putting you on the wrong side of history.

Not quite. I don't have much worry myself about monitoring because I know that mobile phones are way more useful for that purpose.

On a day when Homan announces that the people who ICE have shot 'should have just complied', it seems that MAGATs change their mind about powers of law enforcement depending on whether it suits them.

Or maybe people are more nuanced than the internet wants you to believe and they can have left wing positions as well as right wing ones.

Go talk to people irl. You'll meet Republicans who turn into Bill Haywood when it comes to labor issues. You'll meet liberals who take glee in harassing homeless people. You'll meet transphobic leftists. And on occasion, you'll find a Trump supporter who is worried about the government spying on us. I've met all of these people, and more. No one is completely on the left or right on every issue.

You can hate both the Flock Cameras and the mass surveillance used on our cell phones. It's not either/or. The problem with the Flock cameras is that you can always go back to a flip phone but you sure af can't opt out of being surveilled by these fucking things.

And you can share a common cause with a Trump supporter when you know what you stand for instead of knowing only what you stand against. I'm for privacy and destroying the surveillance state, and if anyone else is, I'm standing with them on that issue.

They seem very intent on ignoring the will of the people. Every meeting I've seen on this is filled with people screaming about how they don't want them, only to have their local board approve them, anyway.

Yeah, people really start needing to hold their governments to account and stop getting pushed over.
