I didn't want to do the tomato-basil thing---I associate it with working as a counterman in a yuppie catering place when I was a kid. But COllette's pasta sauce looks great!
I got the recipe from a UK site, which called for a handful of "rocket". Had to do a little digging to find out that's arugula...which unfortunately I'm out of. Think I'll make a grocery run for some, which will give me an excuse to get some fresh mozzarella balls. (Just have the pre-shredded stuff right now.)

Yeah, I reckoned it was a UK thing, since you can't get double cream in the US. I'm sure it would be just as good with heavy cream, though. Or I might try it using creme fraiche, which is easy to find these days. Either way, it sounds mouthwatering. I'll try it this weekend with my fresh hydroponically grown arugula, and think of you with every bite.

Oh, and I must say, it gladdens my heart to see real, fresh buffala mozzarella so readily available these days. There was a time when it was almost impossible to find. Here's to you, foodies, and your demanding the best ingredients!

Sometimes, Auntie Anne's garlic pretzels are the absolute perfect food. This is one of those times.

*arugula envy*
Haagen-Dazs' Bailey's Ice Cream ........... oohh sooo creamy :p
Yum!
It's good to be seen.

For the record, garlic pretzels are recommended treatment for sinus headaches. It's been that kind of day.
My little guy hits me up for Auntie Anne's whenever we go by. He was home with a bad headache this week so I guess I should tell him it's the prescribed cure.

Hope you're feeling better! :rose:

Bless you, dear. And yes, you should absolutely spoil your youngun when he's got a headache.

So I'm sitting here eating gelatinous nuggets of pure, salty, cured pork fat....not the ham, the fat, from the ham hock that is in my beans. Eating it like a champ. I must have been a soul food chef in a past life.

I like Stout Cake. Particularly when hooked up in the Black Forest variety.

I wish cherries weren't so expensive this year.

Someone mentioned hummus, this sounds incredible ...

Hummus with Beef and Mushrooms

For the hummus:

3 cups cooked chickpeas

1-1/2 cups tahini paste

Salt and lemon juice to taste

For the beef and mushrooms

1 pound ground beef

2 teaspoons cumin

2 teaspoons ground black pepper

Olive oil or oil

1/4 pound mushrooms

Pita bread or French bread, warmed

For the hummus: Mix the peas and tahini together in a food processor until smooth. Add salt and lemon juice to taste, then water as needed to get the right consistency. Taste for seasonings. Mix the beef with the spices and 1 tablespoon oil and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Sauté till done in a nonstick pan. Meanwhile, lightly sauté the mushrooms in a little oil and toss with lemon juice, salt and pepper.

Spoon the hummus into bowls and use a spoon to make some space in the middle for the beef. Add the beef, then the mushrooms and serve with bread. If you're feeling fancy, shake a bit of cumin or paprika over the dish or top it with a bit of yogurt, tahini salad dressing or my preference labneh, chopped parsley or toasted pine nuts.

Best piece of chocolate cake I ever had was a stout cake.

It does sound delicious! I bet it would be good with lamb, too. Lamb and cumin make me a very happy man.

Thank you for posting that! I usually keep hummus and pitas on hand and that's a great way to make it into a meal.

Those are so adorable! I especially love the photo amongst the plants. Wonderful job, lovely!

Pretty soon we're gonna have to start cupcake Foodgasm book!

Thank you, it was my first experience with fondant so I didn't try to do too much. But it was fun and I can't wait to see my nephew's face when I drop them off.

I'm practicing a lot now so I can build up to something cool for a baby shower and birthdays coming up.

My office loves it, they are the usual beneficiaries of my goodies.

Hot chicks and cupcakes. Good stuff.

Thank you, your lovely lady has been a great inspiration for me.
