Foreign Country Praise Thread....

I wish I knew just exactly where this fine, polite and gorgeous British gentleman was from.

I was on my way home from the first Chicago Lit-together. It was at O'Hare airport, I'd loaded my monstrously oversized bag onto the scales and he was the one who had to tell me it was over the weight limit.

(God knows what was in the suitcase - rum, souvenirs, maybe a spare AH member . . . )

Anyway, he said to me (in a lovely accent). "I'm sorry, love, but your bag's too heavy."

I remember looking up at him, completely charmed. "Hmmm?"

"It's too heavy, love. So sorry, you'll need another bag."

"Another bag?"

"Yes, or you'll have to pay extra."

"Oh. Um, how much will that be?"

"Twenty-five dollars."

"Okay." I handed him the money without thinking.

He smiled, cashed it out, put the proper tags on it, then hoisted it where it was supposed to go, again saying, "I'm sorry as I can be, love, but they are so very strict about this."

I was still smiling as I boarded the plane, $25 lighter.

:D
