Trilla

Trilla is gently shaken awake by Thurstor. "Oh, good morn friend Thurstor." She looks at the giant, who has a worried look on his face. "Thurstor can't find Acorn. Trilla see Acorn?" She smiles at him then point to the tree Lucas is sleeping in. "I believe, the preserver is still sleeping in that tree. When you get close enough, you should hear her snoring. I don't know how he slept thru that. Being in the same tree & all." Thurstor rushes off to wake them up.

::Hours later on the trail going north::

While Perrin has Revlin go look for some game. Trilla order her chest to stay with the group. As she goes off to look for eddible greens, roots & berries with two empty bags & small knife in hand. She heads off in the opposite direction that Revlin took. She finds the ground getting damper. ||"Ah this be a good place to find chaff-berries, toadstools, & possibly swampweed. If the ground gets any damper."||

Coming to a partially shady spot, Trilla smells & sees one of the things she has been searching for. Plants close to the ground, some with small white petal flower & others with green or red heart shaped fruit. She carefully selects the fruit she takes & places it in the smaller of the two bags. When her bag is partially full, she moves on to shader & cooler spots.

Finding a well shaded area near a tiny stream there are toadstools in abundance. The fungus ranging from the size of her fist down to the nail of her pinky finger. Trilla takes her dagger to cuts various sizes of the mushrooms & places them on the larger sack. Covering the most of the bag, she takes the free ends in a basket & goes over to the stream to wash them.

After washing the stools free of dirt & placing them in the bag, Trilla sees a different species of fungus on the other side of the stream. Hopping over the water, she goes to pick a few of this special items. They look very much like the other that she has gotten. But the difference is in what they were growing in dry dung. She does the samething to this pretty as she did to the regular ones & places them in the bag with the berries.

Thinking that she has spent too much time away from her companions. Trilla heads back without finding the swampweed. She comes back to the camp sight, as Revlin has already explained to Perrin about what he has found. Both men vote to go after the dragon. "What dragon have you found friend Revlin?" He explains what he had seen.

"This can not bold well for our party to attack a red." She goes to explain. "All colored ones are sworn enemies of the metalic ... Though there are some that are neutral but those are few & far between ..."

Revlin

Revlin looks over at Trilla, "I understand that the colored dragons are your gods sworn enemies, but the gold and gems are a powerful enticement." Revlin's eyes shine with greed, as he thinks back to the mental picture of all the gold. He takes out the largest gem and gives it to Trilla. "Here, this one is for you. There are plenty more where that come from. You wont be dissapointed. "

Revlin sits down next to Trilla and continues to try and get her to choose to go after the Dragon. "We have a powerful group still, if we can defeat that Gigantic Wolf and all those undead, what can stand in our way. Bah, a pitiful thing as a dragon. "

Boy, this idea of the dragon scares me more than I can let on. The treasure will make alll of us rich and would allow us to do more in the fight versus our enemies.

Revlin takes another tact. "Doesnt your guardian have a special place in its heart for gold. I thought all dragons did. There will be gold enough to make the greedist dragon envious. "

Trilla & Acorn

Revlin puts a rare black diamond scrying stone into Trilla's hands. She tries in vain to let go of the stone. Her eyes silver over in her struggles. *Thy can feel & smell the evil taint on the stone. Thou were luck kender, this be a juvenile's lair thee has found. Thy has no use for more gold. Thy greatest treasure be thee cleric before thou.* She drops the stone on the ground & colapse with Guardian's leaving.

Someone comes up to help her, but Trilla holds up her hand. "I am fine friends. My beloved was very upset, he does not approve of this raid. I must abstane from the vote. I will abide by the wishes of the whole." She stands & bows to all then walks over to her horse to prepare the food that she has found. The stone still sits on the ground where it was dropped.

**********

Acorn flies down from her perch in Thurstor's head. "Trilla-thing, not like shiney-stone? Acorn make wrap stuff. Keep save shiney-stone." She manages to hold the stone in both hands. <PHOOT> The palm sized stone is covered in goo. "There Acorn make keep safe. Very-big-thing, give to Trilla-thing. Too heavy for Acorn to fly." She looks up at the giant.

Eyes in the sky

Talen soared high overhead, observing all that took place while keeping an eye on the surrounding countryside. He didn't like the idea of attacking a dragon, for gold or other purpose...after all, he had no need of riches, as he could provide for himself all he needed.

A rumble in the distance drew Talen's attention. His eyes roamed back to the area Revlin had been sneaking about in earlier - the area of the dragon's lair. His keen sight quickly picked up an unmistakable movement that set off brass bells in the alarm centers of his mind. The trees, rocks, and plants on the hill above the cavern were vibrating, which could mean only one thing: the dragon was awake, and moving about below.

At that instant, a blast of flames gushed forth from the opening of the cavern, followed by something no man or beast would ever wish to see - an enraged red dragon bursting from its lair, hell-bent upon locating and destroying the one who had stolen a bit of its precious horde.

Talen hesitated only a moment, then dove immediately back to the group, shifting to man-shape as he landed.

Hear me, all of you! Friend Revlin's escapade is found out. The dragon races towards us as I speak, so the debate of an attack is now moot.

I suggest we prepare for the fight of our lives - a red dragon is no mean adversary, and could have dropped that Morothian we faced in it's tracks - but note this: our friend appears to have a bit of a lameness to it's right wing and forearm. Perhaps a concentrated attack to that area may bear fruit.

Perrin

Perrin hears the words of Talen and is worried. Attacking a dragon in its lair as opposed to out in the open were two different things. Perrin thinks for a moment and comes up with a plan of attack. He gets everyone together quickly and talks to them fast. They go and take their postitions quickly.

Studying the terrain presented, Perrin noticed a ridge of stone on the right side of the trail that they could hide behind. There is a large stand of trees with shadowy places to hide on the left side. The middle of the trail right here could make a good killing ground.

Thurstor begins to gather large rocks to pile behind the ridge. He has been instructed to hide behind the ridge until the prearranged signal and then pummel the dragon in a hail of rock onto its wings to keep it from attaining flight.

Perrin would be in front on the Trail to get the Dragons attention. He could move fast for a big man, and would sound a Bear Roar when all was in readiness. He hefted his axe with a sad smile on his face.

Trilla would be hidden behind the ridge and would be able to use some spells to help the team. Perrin has her cast spells of regeneration on the other members in case of injury that they will surely suffer at the claws of the dragon.

Revlin was to hid in the forest with Lucas. He was to creep up on the dragon after it passed and using a short sword, hamstring the dragon on its injured right leg. Lucas was hidden up in the trees, ready to supply some magical support especially the Ice Storm spell that he told Perrin he had in his collection of scrolls.

Talen was to track the dragon and keep Perrin informed of what it was doing . He was also to harrass the dragon to draw it to the killing ground. Then he was to leave the fight and reenter when he felt he had a good chance to injure the Dragons Plate sized eyes.

All the plans were set, the warriors were all ready, getting prepared in their own ways to face the impending battle.

Thurstor got behind the ridge as Revlin had ordered and piled up the biggest rocks he could find and still be able to throw. "Acorn, Thurstor scared!" He said as he continued to work. When his sword got in his way, he drew it from it's rotting scabbard and stuck it deep into the hard ground. Satisfied that the sword would not move until he was ready, he started piling up more rocks. "Thurstor no like dragons. Dragons kill giants! Dragons evil!" Thurstor continues to rant as he piles up rock after rock.He can his friend, Revlin standing in the path. Thurstor had already decided he would not allow his friend to die. He would kill the dragon himself with his own hands before he allowed his friends to die. THurstor could find no more rocks, he crouched down behind the rock wall and waited.

*he snapped his fingers and vanished reappearing in a tree down by the cave, his axe resting against his shoulder as he watched the others move into position. Juvinille or not, he agreed with the cleric, he did not like the idea of waltzing into a dragons den to try and kill it. But he promised to follow the group and follow he would*

Perrin

Perrin scans down into the forest towards the dragons cave. He moves ever closer in a quest to see where the dragon is. He can see a trail of smoke coming from the right, and then he can see flashes of red in between the trees. Perrin yells out to get the dragons attention and he can hear a large crash in the woods.

Perrin can see the jeweled eyed head of the dragon peering at him through the trees. Perrin waits for the dragon to come onto the path that he is on. Perrin then starts to run towards where his companions are hiding from the dragon. The dragon lumbers after him, but is catching up with the much longer strides that the dragon has.

Perrin makes it to the spot where the killing will hopefully take place. He turns and makes a large roar that the companions will hopefully hear. He unlumbers his axe and gets ready to keep the dragons attention.

Revlin

From within the copse of trees, Revlin sees the dragon approaching. He has never seen such a magnificent creature before in all his life. When it was asleep in the cave, it did not look as beautiful as this. Revlin feels pity for the dragon , since they now have to kill it to survive. But , he also feels sorry for them, since some of them may die in the upcoming encounter.

Revlin wipes an unshed tear from his eye and salutes the dragon. As the dragon follows Perrin past Revlins hiding spot, Revlin slinkily creeps out of his hiding place. He is able to catch up to the dragon without being seen. He places his short sword near the back of the right back leg of the dragon. He takes a deep breath, prays to the god of all Kenders and strikes the back of the leg. The steel bites through the scales and cuts through the muscle at the back of the leg.

Revlin hears a roar like an avalanche falling onto a small village. The dragon raises its head in pain and a small flame shoots ten feet into the air. The dragon turns its head towards Revlin. Revlin makes the mistake of looking into the jeweled eye of the dragon and cannot move a muscle. The dragon starts to turn its whole body towards the kender, dragging its injured leg.

From Talen's perspective, high in the sky above the killing field, the dragon seemed almost tiny. Its scaly hide, highlighted by the setting sun, cast a reddish glow on the countryside as it passed. He watched, bemused, as Revlin tried to hamstring the creature, and was surprised to see the kender's sword bite deep into its reptilian flesh...then was horrified to see Revlin caught in the dragon's basilisk glare. Without a moment's hesitation, Talen dropped from the sky in a full dive, his sleek body a golden blur against the azure sky.

As Talen sliced through the air, the dragon reared back its head to deliver a killing blow. Time seemed to pass almost in slow motion for a few moments, and then Talen was there, bringing his formidable talons to bear. He sliced down the side of the great red beast's face and through its left eye, before sweeping low to the ground and away, narrowly avoiding the retaliatory snap of the dragon's massive jaws.

Revlin

With Talen attacking the dragon in such a manner, the direct stare of the dragon was taken off of Revlin and he was able to move again. He shakes his head to clear out the cobwebs and decides that he wants more than over to defeat this dragon. In a move of utmost courage, Revlin starts the climb up the dragons injured leg to get upon its back.

Perrin

Perrin takes his formidable battle axe in his two massive hands. He balances his weight back and forth on his feet as he waits for the dragon to complete the distance between them. Then he sees a shadow stealthily approaching the great dragon. When the dragons head rears up with a roar of pain, Perrin knows that Revlin has scored a solid hit on the dragon. He can see Revlin stop stone still alongside the dragon as the dragon turns its stare towards him.

Perrin yells out a battlecry of his ancestors as he charges at the dragon , hellbent to try and save his friend. Then, Talen charges into the battle and distracts the Dragon. Perrin is suprised to see the amazing agility that Talen has as he not only avoids the murderous jaws of the dragon, but also inflicts serious harm to the dragons eye.

Perrin charges closer to the dragon, he reaches it as it turns its snout towards him. Perrin raised his axe up high and brought it down with a resounding crash on the dragons snout. He severs one of the nostrils of the dragon and the flesh hangs in front of its slavering maw. The dragon inhales a huge breath of air in preparation of unleashing a deadly firestorm onto Perrin. The flames start to shoot out of the dragons mouth, but most of the flames are diverted to the sides of Perrin due to the hanging snout. Perrin receives some severe burns nonetheless and falls onto the ground writhing in pain.

The by now familiar feeling comes upon Perrin , as great physical harm has caused his body to effect a defense mechanism. His body erupts in a storm of long white fur as he starts to transform to a polar bear. His transformation complete, the bear bares its teeth at the dragon and charges its foe with claws extended.

Perrin

OOC: Welcome back Silverwolf , by all means, we can figure out how you got here later.

Perrin revels in the power of the blizzard. His arms grow stronger in the cold and he strikes out at the Dragons other eye. He is able to slash across it , piercing the cornia. A river of fluid runs out of the eye and onto Perrins fur. The dragon pushes forward strongly and knocks Perrin to the ground. It raises a great talon and stabs Perrin in the arm with it. Writhing in pain, Perrin triesto find a way to fight back.

Revlin

Revlin reaches the top of the dragon. He quickly scuttles to one of the wings. With a mighty slash, Revlin cuts through one of the dragons wing membranes.

This dragon will not be flying anytime soon.

The dragon shudders from the pain, the muscular reaction throwing Revlin off its back and over the ridge of stones. He lands hard, his head hitting a small pile of dirt. His last conscious thought is to hope that his companions will win this fight.

Perrin

Perrin feels the pain pervading his whole body. However , the blizzard is having a strong effect on the dragon and it is loosening its hold on him. In a feat of great strength, Perrin was able to throw off the dragons claw and slowly pull himself away from the battle. A line of dark red blood stained the stone and turf in a path following the wounded bear.

Revlin

Revlin has a dream that he had never had before. A long shaft of light was drawing him onwards. He could see the dead members of his family beckoning him to join them. He shook his head, he would not abandon his friends at their time of need. He would find time to die later. The dream ends, and his eyes open. He surveys the scene in front of him, looking to see where he could be the most help. Thurstor has not attacked yet so Revlin goes towards where he is to see what is going on.

Revlin

Revlin gets over to where Thurstor is. He sees that the giant has looked into the dragons eye at some point of the combat and was ensorcered. Revlin takes a rock and drops in on the giant's foot. The sudden pain snaps the giant out of his enchantment. He looks down at Revlin, thanking him for the help. He grabs one of the boulders and hurls it at the Red Dragon, striking it on the leg front leg, splintering the bone with a loud crack.

Lucas

Lucas , after falling asleep in the tree, suddenly bolts awake when the dragon roars. He had desperately needed his sleep with the trials that his body was recently through. He sees that the dragon has been injured pretty badly, but his companions have also suffered some injuries. Lucas chants a spell and suddenly the rear section of the dragon is encapsulated in a snowstorm. The storm batters the dragon , agravating its many injuries already suffered in the fight. It was also rapidly sapping the strength of the dragon, it was used to hot climates, cold hurt its kind.

The dragon feels the sting of the storm and turns its face towards the source of the irritation . It sees the mage standing in the tree and looses a stream of fire towards the stand of trees. The intense flame sets the trees on fires, setting ablaze the spot where the mage rested. The smoke obscured the spot, the others could not see if the mage had survived.

Everyone.......

The party looks up as a large shadow obscures the sun from their vision. They see that this dragon had to have been one of a mated pair, since three more dragons are overhead. One other adult and two young ones. It makes no difference to the party that the adolescents were not as tough as their parents, as the other adult unleashes its fiery breath at the party. The two young dragons add their power to it. The entire area for 3/4 of a mile is bathed in life-ending flame. All the party members are burned to a crisp, their life gasping out of them within a sheet of flame. The injured dragon, being innured to its own weapon survives to fight another day. This party, starting out with victory after victory, with high hopes in mind, was saddly destroyed in an act of Draconian vengence. As the dust settles, and the ash is swirled away into the winds; a voice seems to be heard......The End.

Cool, I just checked it out. Just not sure yet how we are going to get the characters back. So did you like the ending that I made for the thread originally?
