(This thread is open to a character of either gender. I don't mind who you choose to play. Surprise me <3)
Name: Leah Abrams
Age: 18
Height: 5'5"
Hair: Long and red, invariably left to hang loose over her shoulders
Complexion: Fair skin, a light scattering of freckles over the bridge of her nose, bright blue eyes.
Abilities: Leah is an empath. She feels what people around her feel and that is only magnified through physical contact with them. If she is not careful, she often transfers whatever emotions she is feeling to someone when they are in physical contact with her.
Whispers in the high school corridors were generally aimed at one girl in particular. Leah Abrams, the one they all thought of as a 'freak'. She was pretty, sure, with red hair and large, expressive, icy blue eyes, but pretty wasn't quite enough to make up for the strange things she did. She had a tendency to act on impulse, to do things without warning. Those urges and impulses that she acted on were not her own, but rather the impulses of the people around her. It was her big secret, something that she kept close to her chest, hid away from the rest of the world as a means of self preservation. Leah was an empath, a 'mutant' some people called it. It wasn't by choice, it was just something that she'd had forced upon her by fate two years ago. Now, as she passed through the halls, she felt what those close to her felt. Her emotions fluctuated and compiled upon each other. Thankfully, in the past two years she'd learned to distinguish between her own emotions and the emotions of other people. For the most part.
Leah had had not even been able to bring herself to tell her best friend or close friends, for fear that she would be cast out by the people who meant the world to her. She did not want to be the freak with no friends, being a plain old freak was bad enough.
As she passed through the halls on Friday afternoon, heading to her last class of the day, she clutched her books to her chest, concentrating on the floor as she walked in an attempt to drown out the emotions and feeling she was being bombarded with. Lust, anger, amusement, annoyance. Everything flashed through her in such rapid succession that she did not have enough time to process any of them before they were replaced. She avoided one of the boys as they ran by her, accidentally bumping into a couple leaning against a locker as a result. Her skin brushed against the guy's for the briefest moment, but it was enough to make his hormonally charged urges force themselves into her mind.
Before she could act on those urges, however, she mumbled an apology and moved off quickly, listening to laughter and a few taunts, heading for some place that she could sit quietly and sort herself out, just to regain her composure and her own thoughts. Pushing through the first door she found, she made her way into the gym, thankfully empty at this time of day, at least for the moment. With her back pressed against the wall, the cool surface teasing her skin, she lowered herself into a sitting position, her legs tucking in against her side. Placing the books by her side, she smoothed her mid-thigh length red skirt down in an attempt to ensure that she did not flash her underwear at anyone who might walk in and find her. The button-up shirt she wore sat snugly on her form, sliding up slightly as she sat, though she didn't bother to adjust it, far too concerned with relieving some of the strain on her head. Her slender fingers lifted to rub her temples gently, her eyes closing as she tilted her head back to rest against that cool gym wall.
