Frozen Eggs Ogre Hard (closed)

Vera

“I understand how you feel. But you need to see this from my point of view. That place is full of important research and some really dangerous material. I can’t have someone fighting a battle in there!” Frank Johnson said.

“Good Point. I just draw them out here” I said joining the conversation again

“NO” Frank said firmly to me. “This is too risky!”

“Sometimes you have to take risks.” I countered. Then I said something I probably should not have “I think fear is holding you back, knight”

“WHAT!” Frank said as he reached inside his jacket for his gun “I have been given an order to stop this attack, and I will do it” Frank Johnson insisted

“YOU DO NOT TELL ME WHAT TO DO” I growled

“Oh shit” Dr Rekey gasped

I transformed into my dragon form, before Frank Johnson could pull his gun. He, Agent Rose, and the two soldiers stumbled backwards away from my massive dragon body. Dern stood calmly by my right foreleg. He was use to my transformation by now. He could tell I was pissed

“See what you did it” Dern said to Frank Johnson

With a low growl, I pushing myself into the air. An avalanche of leaves blew off the trees before me. My nostrils flaring as I gathered up my fire breath. I flew straight at the main gate and the adjacent guard shack

“ERBULL… TASTE MY FURY! IT IS I, VERAXUM, WYRM OF THE GOLDEN HUE!” I roared at the security camera. Then I smashed through the gate like it was made of paper. The Guard shack was reduced to splinters as my left wing struck it.

The two guards tumbled along the ground from the force of my impact. They were hurt, but not dead. I could taste their blood in the air, and a thrill ran through me. The predator in me was fully awake.

“YOUR CHARMED GUARDS WON’T PROTECT YOU. ERBULL… COME AND FACE YOUR DOOM!!”

The main door to the laboratory building opened as goblins poured out. Many had army styled M-16, but one team was setting up a 50 cal

I blasted the front entrance with my fire breath. I lite up the whole compound with my fire.

I LOVED to slaughter evil creatures! As I cut off my fire breath, I could hear the last cries of the dying goblins. It was music to my ears. I reared onto my hind legs and roared to the heavens in satisfaction. The sound reverberated across the small town of Los Alamos. Every living soul of the town KNEW there was a dragon here.

Gun fire broke out as goblins took up position in the windows of the building. I saw more goblins and an Ogre headed toward Dern!

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a bright streak flash from Dr ReKey’s pointing finger. The streak headed straight to one of the windows and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flames. More goblin screams as the magic fireball killed them!

Frank, Rose and the soldiers were taking out the goblins in the windows.

Then I heard my name. “Veraxum, you stupid bitch… you are too late!”

I refocused my fury-reddened gaze on the main door, where someone used my name. A spheroid body levitates through the door way, its great bulging eye siting above a wide, toothy maw. Its smaller eyestalks twisting and turning

I bared my teeth at Erbull and then blasted him with my fire breath. But at the same time, I also lunged forward with my head. My jaws sank into the floating beholder as I pulled it out of the doorway and threw it high in the air.

The action caused charred chucks of skin from the beholder to fall to the ground like rain.

Many of the other combatants had ceased fighting, staring at the Beholder and myself in awe and horror.

“Time to die, Veraxum!! Erbull said as his Disintegration eye stalk was aimed at me.

Dern

One thing about Vera, is she can be VERY impulsive.

The other thing about Vera? She knows how to make an entrance. I didn't wait to see what her attack would cause, I threw open the trunk of the car and pulled free the sniper rifle. Switching on the night optics, I was able to see in time that Vera had thrown the Beholder up in the air, where it came to a halt and pointed . . . an eye? at Vera. I may not know much about mythical creatures, but I knew a weapon when I saw it.

The heavy bullet slammed into the stalk just behind the eye, the point splitting open and sending shards spiraling into the eye, ripping as they went. The creature ROARED in pain and fury, only realizing what had happened when the report of the rifle echoed through the surrounding hills. "Yes fucker, that's for wanting to threaten my country and mankind."

The other eyes were moving around too randomly and the fact that it didn't try immediately to use another one on Vera, told me that she was either immune or they were not as dangerous as the one I had just taken out. Also, the random movements would mean that I would just be wasting time and ammunition. I changed my position and aimed the rifle at the building just as the side entrance exploded outwards. This thing looked like an ogre, it was even wielding a club and lumbered forward. I could see rounds hitting it but just bounced off, a fireball from the wizard seemed like it had no impact.

Taking a deep breath, I adjusted the optics to get a clearer picture and then took a few moments before pulling the trigger, the rifle roared and the ogre halted, reached up to grab at its face, and slowly toppled over, its brain mangled from the bullet I had put through its large eye.

"DERN!"

I knew that the voice was in my head and that Vera would not shout at me to look up at her, I scanned the building and saw a team of goblins setting up a large gun on the roof. I focused and saw that it was a 20mm cannon. I didn't know if it might hurt Vera, but from her shout, she clearly didn't want to find out either. I adjusted my position and focused the rifle on the goblins.

Patriot Battery

“Captain Simon,” the senior enlisted operator said. “I got something on the radar, just above the laboratory. Shall I engage?”

“Shit” the captain grunted. He had been really hoping nothing would show up on the radar. However, he’s orders were clear. He needed to engage if the WMD were to leave the area.

“Is it leaving?” He asked, the tension in his voice

“No, it seemed to be stationary” the operator answered

“Weapons tight.” The captain ordered. This was a NATO brevity code used in anti-aircraft warfare, imposing a status whereby weapons systems may only be fired at targets confirmed as hostile. The captain could have ordered “Weapons Hold”, whereby the weapon may only be fired at targets when under attack, or in response to a formal order.

“But keep your hand close to the firing button, because I’m going to go “weapons free” as soon as the thing moves!”

Vera

As I watch Erbull’s eye stalk splatter, I thought Dern was a pretty good shot! He had just saved my life. Not bad for a small human.

I felt a series bullets rip into my side as a goblin fired from an open window. I launched into the air and blasted the whole side of the building with my breath. That ended the small arms fire from the building’s windows.

But then I saw another ogre coming out of the other side of the building. Headed for Frank Johnson, Rose and Dr Rekey. I flapped my wings to change direction towards them. As I banked and I built up speed. I smashed into the Ogre, using my body as a living battering ram. I heard bones crunching and my face was splattered with blood.

The ogre gasped as I had caved in his chest. To make sure he was no longer a threat, my jaws sank into his throat and ripped it out. More blood covered my golden scales. I was looking more and more like a red dragon. Not that anyone here had a clue what that meant.

Frank Johnson

“FUCK” Frank Johnson yelled as he emptied his gun at the approaching Ogre. It had no effect. The deputy director of the FBI was certain he was going to die in seconds, when a huge golden dragon, changed his fate.

The violence and destructive power of the dragon was unbelievable. Vera had removed the Ogre threat is a matter of seconds.

“She is really something to watch.” Dr Rekey said “Now I know why dragons were so respected and feared. Facing that monster with a only a sword and a shield… that would have been crazy!”

Frank Johnson did not response to Dr Rekey’s statement.

“Mr Johnson?” Dr Rekey asked, staring into the deputy director’s eyes. The man said nothing, but he pulled out his phone and ordered the general to attack the dragon.

Vera

As I turned away from the dying ogre, I saw Frank Johnson’s face. His eyes were glazed over. He was speaking into his phone. I heard him say “Order them to engage!”

In the heat of battle, sometimes your mind works so fast it is scary. I knew what had happened in an instance. Erbull had charmed Frank Johnson and told him to order a full attack on me. I did not know what that meant, but I assumed it would involve fighter aircraft. Like the F-16s I had seen back in Colorado.

I knew how to fight air to air battles, and it involved altitude. The highest flyer had the advantage. I need to gain altitude and fast. I got ready to take off then I saw the 20mm being set. No way I could fly through, that. “DERN” I thought.

Dern turned his gun on the 20mm and I took off. I flapped my wings with all the power I could as I blasted into the air. My path took me straight at Erbull. With a savage grin on my face, I again used myself as a battering ram. I smashed into the floating eyeball as hard as I could. I punched Erbull high into the air, almost like I had kicked a football.

The impact had done something to Erbull, as my face was sprayed with his gore. I needed to shake my head to clear my eyes of all the gore. That was when I saw goblins swarming Dern’s position. He had no way to stop them, as he was focused on kill the 20mm cannon aimed at me.

I could have saved him. But he had made he make that oath before the battle. I was not to risk my life for his. I hesitated for a moment. I wanted to save him. I wanted to break my oath. But I knew, that was not possible. I need to win this battle, and one human was not more important than the entire planet. I turned to keep flying higher when I saw a streak screaming across the sky.

Patriot Battery

“WEAPONS FREE, FIRE, FIRE, FIRE” Captain screamed as the engagement order came in.

The senior enlisted operator launched the patriot missile. A few seconds later “I’ve got weapon’s impact” He reported. A second later “target destroyed”

Vera

I later learned a patriot missile travels at Mach 3. It is so fast, even a dragon’s eyes have a hard time following it. I watched as the missile impacted Erbull’s body. The explosion reduced the beholder to a pink cloud of nothing.

I drove back to Dern position, where he was surrounded by the bodies of lots of dead goblins. As I landed, I asked “are you ok?” Wondering what had happened.

Dern

I have seen a lot of wild and even downright stupid things in my life, but when Frank Johnson ordered the missile strike, I knew that nobody could be that stupid. The only reason we actually got shots in on the Beholder was that Vera was keeping it occupied. Otherwise, this fight would have been over.

As Vera flew upwards, I knew that I had to protect her six, for all intents and purposes, she was now my team. I knew goblins were converging on my position, but I also knew I could not let Vera down. I focused on the task at hand, which was to take out the 20mm. Rounds were starting to fly around me, but these goblins clearly did not know how to practice fire control. But it would take only one 9mm round to turn my day bad, so I used that credo our trainers always liked to use, "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast."

I fired at the goblins setting up the cannon, they went down, but more seemed to pop up again like they were really intent on setting that cannon up and taking Vera down. It was a fluke that brought an end to my engagement on the crew, a round punched through the goblin, striking the loading breach at the right angle and sending parts flying as it impacted. It was then that I realized that the goblins' shooting had quieted down, the car was riddled with bullet holes and I stood there unscathed as Vera landed asking if I was OK.

I looked down, saw and felt no punctures, and looked at her as she changed into her human form. I nodded, not sure if I could explain it because I couldn't. Even with me accepting all of this, I could not explain why this seemingly miracle have happened or how it had happened. Dr Rekey saved me from trying to answer, he came sauntering over like it was broad daylight, his eyes shimmering a pale blue color.

"Well if you tell a bunch of sharpshooters that the children are not children and that they must protect the guy with the sniper rifle and also cast a shielding spell, these sorts of things happen."

Like he had read my mind, "Oh but I did Dern, you think so loudly it is strange that Vera here doesn't hear every thought you have."

"And that trick is to make me think about things that I wouldn't normally think about."

He chuckled and snapped his fingers, floodlights came on where no floodlights were previously and he shrugged, "On loan from a construction site, they won't mind tonight."

I gave him a look as Frank Johnson came walking towards us as well, looking at his phone and then at Vera, "Did I . . ."

"Try to blow up a mythical creature whose only crime is that she's a bit arrogant but has a great heart?" I interrupted the inane question, "Yes, but I think you had no idea what you were doing at the time."

Vera

“On top of that, she just saved your life from that Ogre!” Dr Rekey said slapping Frank Johnson’s arm.

“So, it is over?” Frank asked everyone

“Yes, although you might want to cancel your engagement order” I said to him with a smile. He nodded in agreement. Like most humans, Frank reacted better to my human form. He turned his back and made a phone call.

“Anyone charmed by the beholder, should now be back to their normal selves.” I explained. “The building might have a few more bad guys in it. Most likely goblins, but they should surrender with Erbull dead.”

There was a second of silence as everyone looked at each other.

“That leaves the question of what happens to Dern and myself” I asked

Dr Rekey scratched his beard. “I’m not in any position to make that determination. Frank is the decision authority. I can tell you, that there were a lot more survivors from the great battle, than you may think. They have been living quiet lives, hidden away, in various spots around the world. In fact, I visited a centaur herd up in Canada about a month ago. They seemed very happy. I’m sure, the US government will find a good spot for you and your clutch of eggs”

“My what?” I asked. I was worried they had found Nora and the eggs.

“Your pregnant” Dr Rekey said.

“That is not possible…” I replied. Then I looked over to Dern.

Dern

"This is going to be an even larger cover-up than Area 51 and Roswell." I remarked, "Even though the real cover-up is not what happened at Roswell or what is in Area 51, it is a diversion."

Dr Rekey glanced at me and then he dropped the bomb on Vera about her being pregnant. Immediately her attention turned to me.

"What?"

I looked back at her, "Don't look at me, you're the one who fucked a dragon, can't blame me. You told me that dragons can't get pregnant from humans."

Dr Rekey chimed in, "That is entirely correct, since dragons have such strong magical genes and connections to Earth and Air magic, the only way for them to pro-create is with each other. Cross-species with dragons can only happen with the strongest of magics and even then, it is not a sure thing."

He paused and looked at me, then he looked at Vera, "Wait . . . you two don't know?"

I groaned, "Don't tell me love conquers all, I will shoot you."

Dr Rekey looked around to make certain it was only us three, then said softly, "Dern is a dragon."

I scoffed, "Listen Rekey, I would know if I were a dragon. I am human."

Dr Rekey looked around again, "Do you have higher-than-normal stamina, don't get sick easily, and seem to have an idea of what people are thinking before they do or say something?"

I shrugged, "I live a healthy life and have a good intuition, so what?"

He continued, "How many childhood illnesses did you have?"

I gave him a measured look as I thought about it, "None that I can recall."

He grinned, "And I bet that you were not overly surprised when Vera changed into a dragon the first time and that you can hear her thoughts. I know that you can hear her, she called out for you before you started shooting at those goblins on the roof."

I thought about it for a moment, "If you heard it, it was magic. You are a wizard after all."

He shook his head, "No, Dern. I am a trained telepath. There was no magic about it."

"Just admit it, Dern, you are a dragon," Vera smirked at me.

"I would know if I was," I replied

Dr Rekey moved closer to me and took hold of my hand, I felt a slight sting but didn't pull my hand back as he stared off into space. "Vera, have you heard about Merphistophelin?"

Vera thought for a moment and nodded, "Yes, he was one of the elder dragons."

Dr Rekey looked at me, "Dern here is offspring of him."

”Merphistophelin was a very old dragon. Some thought he was a god. He was very powerful. He kept to himself most of the time and many dragons just ignored him. He was very knowledgably of history and lore. He also had a great distaste for being disturbed, so asking him about history was… difficult” I explained to Dern

“I’m not a dragon” Dern insisted

I could not believe Dern was a dragon either. But human wizards had a way of being right. He knew I was pregnant and I did not even know it. Once he said I was, I knew he was right. But still Dern a dragon? It was hard to believe.

“I must admit, I’m not sure you are a dragon either. But there is one sure way to find out” I told him.

He just gave me doubting look.

“Get you to take your dragon form” I offered with a smile.

“Use magic on me?” Dern asked

“Magic does not work well on dragons. No, this will be you transforming yourself into a dragon” I explained.

“Me?” Dern answered not believing it.

“First, starting thinking like a dragon. It is ok to have an ego… you’re a fricking dragon. Let your pride swell. You’re a massive monster. Remember there is no monster greater than pride!” I told him. “Now, close your eyes, and think of how a dragon looks”

“What color dragon?” Dern asked after his eyes were closed.

“Elder dragon could change their colors… so there is no knowing what color you are…” Dr ReKey said.

“Color is not important, just worry about the shape.” I told Dern “Let your mind reach out… feel the dragon magic inside you”

Dern reached out with his mind. He felt an energy.

“I think I see the energy” Dern said in surprise.

“Now call it up” I told him.

Dern

Dern called forth the energy. It was the energy of great Serpent. In his mind it was a glowing blue-green mist. He shaped the mist to solidify his form. Ghostly wings formed first. The tendrils were as beautiful as the sunrise over water. Then he formed legs, and a tail. Then he completed the iconic dragon shape. When that was done, everything grew exponentially larger.

Bioelectric waves shot through his arms, his chest, and then his entire body, ripping the space and matter asunder. Like a lightning storm, the waves of crackling energy, all inside his body.

He could not stand it anymore. He opened his eyes. He heaved himself up on his four legs. Twisting his head around. He felt his huge horns. Below his view he saw little humans, Frank Johnson and the soldiers scrambling away. Inside his head, a thought popped in “Cower. Worship. Marvel. All appropriate responses, TO ME!”

Dern did not know why, but he turned his head skyward and roared. It was so loud it shook his own spine. The deafening roar crack a few windows, and echoed all around.

Vera

“Wow, Dern is a dragon” I gasped in total surprise.

“I did not expect that color?” Dr Rekey added.

Dern

I was still in denial, if this was true, how did I not know it? The only way to really prove to them that I was not a dragon, was to prove that I was not a dragon.

I followed Vera's instructions on how to shapeshift, I scoffed at her mentioning of ego, it was not like . . . and then, deep inside of me, I felt it. Like when you become aware that there's something inside you that you did not know of before. This felt like power, it was so deep and well-hidden, that I would never have thought about it if I wasn't directed to look for it.

I opened my eyes and realized that I looked down at everybody, that they were insignificant and small, I could feel the power of the mind which was my own, the real drive behind who I had been all my life. I raised my head upwards and roared, in that roar, I revealed my true dragon name; Dandrun

I looked down at myself, sitting back on my haunches: "I'm red."

"It kind of fits,"
Vera replied and I realized we were communicating telepathically, "You are a warrior after all."

I had this itching feeling between my shoulder blades and tried to move my shoulders to ease the feeling, which made my wings spread out.

"Quite magnificent." Dr Rekey said

"Don't encourage him, you know dragons can get bloated egos very quickly," Vera said, sounding very smug.

Since envisioning seemed to work quite well, I started to think about my human form, the one I was quite happy with, and within a few moments, I stood on two legs again, shuddering away the strange feeling of having shrunk again and losing all that size and strength.

"Somebody owns me paternal pay." Vera smirked, "You didn't tell me you were a dragon before we . . . "

"Ahem yes," Dr Rekey interrupted, "You realize that not only does this place you on the extinction scale but you two are now actually mated for life. Or until you find other dragons of breeding age."

"Could somebody just tell me what the actual fuck is going on?" I interrupted any further discussion.

"I second that question," Frank Johnson said from behind the car.

Dr Rekey conjured up chairs and I thankfully sank down into one, "I will not be able to tell you the details, but Dern here has been a human for so long, that his dragon side has been hidden from everybody who did not know how to look. Since wizards are an extinct breed, the chances of Dern running into one would have been so low, that it would be the best way to hide away. He would go through the life cycle of a human and if he "dies" of old age or gets "killed", he would transform into essence, find a suitable host and after nine months he would be born and start the cycle again."

"What?"

Dr Rekey nodded, "Dragon magic is very powerful if you know how to apply it. I think that Vera could become even more powerful if she knew how to apply her magic properly."

Frank Johnson spoke up, "You realize that this means we have two highly dangerous WMDs, right?"

"You know Frank, why don't you rather get soldiers into the laboratory and let them secure it, when you look back, we will be gone and you will not hear from us again."

I gave him a smile, "But if you have questions, I am willing to answer what I can."

"We will both stay and answer what questions you have," Vera piped up.

"I'd take that offer, Frank," Dr Rekey said, "You can't possibly hope to detain them if they decided to leave."

While the two men got into a discussion, Vera leaned closer to me and whispered, "I hope you remember to attach your dick when you transformed." She gave me a vicious grin and it got me worrying.

Vera

10 days later at my New Mexico house

When I woke up, Dern was still asleep beside me. I had slept soundly after we had finished making love. I slipped out of bed and made it to the kitchen to see if I could start some coffee.

When I got to the kitchen, Nora was already there, coffee made. She looked up from her IPAD, said good morning and asked, "so...how was last night?"

I'm pretty sure my smile answered her question but just to be sure, I said "Dern and I had a good time”

"Whew, that's good. I thought I might have worn him out” Nora replied

I let her comment go. I was in a good mood and Nora was not going to spoil it. She had been trying to have lots of sex with Dern, so he was too tired for me.

“Hey, check this out” Nora said and slide the IPAD over to me.

The screen displayed the front page of the National Enquirer “Radioactive Dinosaur Destroyed by Space Aliens!” The story talked about the FBI, Los Alamos, and even the tied it back to the lockdown around Colorado Springs and Dern’s fossil lab. But the story had all the details wrong. Secret Government Cloning project, space aliens, and Elvis as the evil mastermind.

“Part of the cover up?” I offered

“That was what I was thinking too” Nora agreed

I poured myself some coffee and then peeked inside the oven. I saw all ten dragon eggs glowing red hot. I had started to incubation process with my fiery breath, the old fashion way. But after that, I decided to use the oven. It just gave me freedom to go about my daily activities. Nora had been a big help too. She checked on the eggs and rotated them hourly. She had also been taking detailed notes on everything, and in particular the ancient eggs. Just in case more were found at a dig sites.

Nora and I started breakfast and the smell of bacon, eggs and toast must have wafted into the bedroom because it was just about when things were ready Dern came into the kitchen. After the previous night’s activities, I shouldn't have been surprised but it caught me a bit off guard when he came in naked.

"Thanks for getting breakfast ready." Dern said.

“Speaking of breakfast” Nora said in excitement and she dropped in front of Dern and start sucking on his quickly hardening cock. Dern saw my look and just winked at me.

I finished cooking the breakfast as Nora sucked on Dern’s huge cock. I had not told Nora, but I had been teaching Dern a few spells. One spell he had mastered quickly was a spell to “restore” his vitality. Nora was not going to tire him!

Dern

To be perfectly honest, it was a good thing that Vera had taught me restoration spell, between the two of them, I would have gotten killed from exhaustion in the first week. The answer to the age-old question is if there is such a thing as too much sex for a male. No, there isn't. But things can become a bit . . . too much. Especially when it comes to regular threesomes. But with magical vitality, Dern received all of the pleasures from these moments with almost none of the drawbacks.

One thing he had noticed though, even though he knew that he was a dragon and according to Vera he was kind of a big deal as there were no other dragons left as well as the offspring of a legendary dragon among the dragons themselves. That also explained why Dern was larger than Vera, Dr Rekey had brought that up during his brief visit, that male dragons were usually smaller than females, but that Dern's bloodline gifted him with superior size and abilities.

After breakfast Dern showered and dressed and went to the basement, where a small laboratory had been set up by Vera, it was true what they said about dragons and hoards of gold, only the accumulation of wealth was more about the abundance of time and a bit of magical luck including wealth, which floods to a dragon if they only half try. He sipped his coffee as he opened the vault and took out the slap of rock from which a fossilized bone protruded. It may seem mundane, but this was his guilty pleasure, to spend a few hours on research and even though Nora joined him at times, it was his alone time.

So far, it was a good life and Dern was now much happier than he can remember being before.

Vera

At lunchtime, I headed down to the basement and knocked on the door to Dern’s makeshift laboratory.

“Come in” He said

I walked in carrying two plates with hotdog made with the thickest, juiciest, dogs you’d ever seen. Each plate had 2 hotdogs, chips, and sodas. In a small basket, I had around my wrist, was ketchup, mustard, butter, mayo, pickles, and a few other condiments you can place on hot dogs.

“What is this?” Dern asked as he look up from the bone he was working on.

“Hot Dogs and Sodas!” I answered with a smile. “You were going to ask me out for hot dogs and sodas if we survived the battle” I reminded him.

“Oh crap” He started to say, feeling guilty he had not asked me out.

“Don’t worry about it. We have been a bit busy!” I laughed “The eggs will take a few months to hatch… but after that we’ll be busy raising them. I wanted to have at least one date with you before that happens.” I explained as I placed Dern’s plate in front of him, gave him a kiss and sat across from him.

“I love you” I said to him. It was hard for me to say what came so easy to humans. To be in love, meant you were dependent on another. Dragons were solitary creatures. I also looked at love as a weakness. It meant someone could hurt you through your lover. But I knew I needed to change my ways. Dragons needed to adopt some of the better human traits.

“I love you too” Dern answered. “That must have been hard for you to say”

I was not going to answer his statement. “Let’s eat” I suggested, changing the subject. We started to fix up our hot dogs.

“Have you figured out your Dragon name?” I asked “I still like Merphistophelin Lite” I joked.

“That was not funny the first time you said it, and it is not funny the twentieth time either.” Dern said back not amused.

We both took bites out of our dogs.

“MMM, these are pretty good” I commented. Dern nodded in agreement.

“How is the research coming?” I asked.

Dern Miles

I had really forgotten about the hotdog date, but of course, Vera would be the one to remember it. And the reason was quite obvious when she swallowed that draconian pride and professed her love. I had known for a while now how I felt, in fact, I knew even before it got laid on me that I am a dragon, which was still a tough one to swallow.

"Well it is going slowly, but with all the work my father has put in already, it is much faster than what I expected. I can understand why this would be kept quiet and not just by the dark forces. If all the signs that I have found so far are right, it will not just change the concept of the various periods, but it will bring along the existence of various species which was thought to be fantasy made up from misidentification."

I paused and chuckled, "Well, I think that I will most likely hang up my combat boots and follow in my father's footsteps, I think there are enough soldiers out there anyway."

"I don't think you really want to hang up your combat boots," Vera responded a slight smile on her face.

"And what do you find so funny about that?"

She grinned at me, "You got to stop thinking like a human, dragons don't live 80 years, you will have a lot of time. You can finish your research later as well when people will be more open-minded about these types of things."

I took a sip of my soda and scratched my cheek, "I have much to learn about being a dragon."

She chuckled, "Yes, but don't worry, I really enjoy teaching you."

I scoffed and rolled my eyes, "Typical dragon ego."

We shared a laugh and finished our meal, it was not the date I had planned, but it was fun sharing the almost normal moment with Vera.

"Pyzzut," I said and Vera blinked at me.

"The Protector? Wait, did you just tell me your dragon name?"

I smiled at her, "Love means trust, not dependence, and I trust you."

Vera

"I trust you too" I replied in a serious way. Then a smile spread upon my lips. "You know Humans will put the two together… call you Pyzzut - The Protector” I explained. “I like it. But my Dragon Ego wants you to add other descriptors… like Pyzzut the powerful… or Pyzzut the potent…” I giggled as I saw a frown on Dern’s face.

"I'm going inflate your dragon ego one of these days!" I told him.

"Ugh" he grunted.

“I’ll stop” I agreed as I took another bite of my hot dog. Then my phone rang. It was my business line. I picked it up and answered “Vera Burns, Private Investigator”

My face grew serious as I listened to what the man had to say…

This the end of Book 1: Frozen Eggs Ogre Hard.
