Here's one for incest aficionados, writers or readers.

Background: a few weeks back, I started an AH thread to discuss popularity of incest relationships, to get inspired which one to use in my current WIP, the pee fetish/incest/anal one.

it continues to enjoy a life.

Yesterday, a poster called @Jax1973 posted:
Just have the whole famdamily lol then everyone involved is satisfied

which inspired me to start this thread for the purpose of sharing and discussing ideas for clever gimmicks, twists, or settings for what I always call "full family fun".

Thoughts? comments?

The one time I have ever tried this, is in Pretty Please. The family are all nudists, which right off, is breaking a normal boundary. After the daughters find out their parents are also swingers, another is broken. Seeing your parents as sexual creatures.
For me to buy into a family situation, the dominos have to be stacked just right because - verisimilitude. It's gotta be at least plausible for me, which I find dubious within the nuclear family. Having said that, my attitude on the subject likely stems from a tumultuous childhood.

The ceremonial or welcoming ones are good.

A new member is inducted. Might be by marriage, coming home after a long absence, attaining a certain age. Whatever the reason, it's a big formal deal. Gowns, tuxes, a ceremonial undressing of the inductee ....

That's great! Shoot me some links. Where writing them is hard for me, reading is another matter.
the whole trick is to get the romp going early and the reader just hangs on for the fun of the ride, without worrying too much about plausibility. Kinda like a John Wick movie, except sex instead of action.

Yeah. Like I get why people do the big initiation ceremony.

But honestly I find those have some issues baked into them whereas just having some spontaneity keeps things light and fun.

Like I think Sirhugs’ “Everyone’s Kissing Santa Clause” does it well since you have an inciting incident that then brings to light several other illicit relationships that all then come together (literally and figuratively).

Like I think one way to do it would be:

Big family gathering. Couple cousins get caught skinny dipping or making out. Parents start to tear into them when other members of the family confront them about their hypocrisy.

“It’s indecent! Family members should not be getting together.”

“Oh come on! You shared a bed with grandpa for a whole year”

“…well we were lonely after grandma died. Besides Richard: that’s your daughter! You have to be disgusted by this!”

“I…well, uh…well. Me and Tina used to fool around and we were siblings. I mean I’m not exactly cheering my daughter having sex but well”

Leading to everyone fucking (with a twist being the cousins were just enjoying being nude or we’re daring each other and weren’t originally planning anything incestous)

My latest story Family Game Night is like that.
MC comes home from college for winter break a few days early and walks in on his parents, aunt and uncle, cousins and one cousins wife in the family room, naked, just starting their adult game night.
Through conversations during the game, he learns how it came to be.

When I was younger I found this kind of story to be hot, as I’ve gotten older I’ve found it to be less improbable. I think a ritual idea works best for it, but I obviously don’t know what the readers here want.

End of the days, readers just want a hot story.

Now for me, the initiation leaves a bad taste for me cause it adds this nonconsensual aspect (now note, it rarely goes that route but it kind of adds a “you need to be okay with this or else you’re not part of the family” of course the protags are okay with it in the text but then that little question of “what if someone wasn’t okay with it?”)

Now with taboo I tend to want to read stories with big emotions being explored between people that come to a head via a taboo encounter. But otherwise I tend to prefer the sillier and more spontaneous

But if I were to do a ritual or initiation story I think I wouldn’t have it as a big shock and also make it clear it’s something everyone’s into even before the event.

So example: initiation occurs around 21st birthday but people are aware of what goes on before then. Like as kids they might wonder why aunt slept over a lot in parents’ room when they had a guest room and one time was wearing dad’s t-shirt.

Then at 18 they start asking and maybe even see or participate in a bit of it 21 though is where there are big incestous gatherings they can join that are 21+. So it’s not some big shock and if you aren’t into it, there’s plenty of gatherings that don’t involve it.

So for a story: MC is a 19 or 20 year old young woman and the story has her going to her grandpa and asking about the ceremony. He plays dumb but admits the family doesn’t do a good job hiding it. He explains it didn’t even start as anything special: his grandparents or great grandparents had their family snowed in and stuck on a mountain. They had plenty of food and wood for fire so they survived but they were also all fit healthy adults in a cabin that was cozy and lacked privacy. It wasn’t anything special but some of them kept it up then when their kids were grown they let them know about it and then someone made rules and it evolved into what it was now.

MC looks over at Grandpa and asks if anyone ever fools around before 21 and he laughs: yeah, it happens, though if it’s a parent they got to talk with the rest of the family first before anything happens and consent has to be asked throughout. MC then asks what about grandparents? Grandpa then watches as she slides her shirt off and then smiles at him playfully

I generally did mine where everybody knew well in advance, the inductee was excited to be involved and looked forward to it. This was part of the reason I did them at age 20 though, so they had some time to be exposed to the details.

There were one or two where the new one was surprised and initially unenthused, but came around quickly.

As a reader I don't like the initiation story. There is always a feeling the younger MC may not want to follow tradition. What ever the young MC does in the story it comes across as coercive.

The 'Whole Damafamily' is still a good genre with some great ideas above. Given I prefer the youngest character to be early to mid 20s, the family snowed into a cabin idea or perhaps the family gathering above where 2 characters where just baiting each other for a bit of fun.

I've set a couple at Christmas for Winter Holiday Contest entries. In one, the combination of mistletoe and alcohol triggers the events. the other is a more traditional but decidedly non-traditional Santa Claus centric story, featuring grown sibs sneaking out of beds to watch for Santa...watching what Mr and Mrs Claus (their parents) do after delivering the gifts under the tree leads into the whole family aspect...

The mistletoe one led to a V Day sequel.
Lots of ways to play it.

Most of mine are younger person initiated, where they seduce an older relative. Then others get involved, accidentally or intentionally.

My first attempt at writing a slow burn story, "Unexpected Family Tradition" was less than successful. According to the commenters, the main character was a wimp when his father ordered him into the car, and he surrendered too quickly at the "taste of pussy". That's a direct quote.

Some of my other works, like "Aliens Horny Invasion" was more successful. It was inspired by a long gone work I found enticing by Walterio, who is also long gone.

my "family fun" stories typically jump very quickly into the fun. I think that's important to hooking the reader on the ride, as explained above.

once they are hooked, you can feed in bits of backstory in and around the action.

just don't kill the dog. John wick reference there. Because i recently watched an inferior action flick i which the inciting incident was the bad guy killing the dog. I was screaming at the tv- had these fictional people never watched John Wick? Sure enough, they died soon after. Sorry, I digress.
