Prologue: The age of the invention is coming to it's end. Steam had already given the world it's first tastes of clockwork machines that efficiently and methodically did all that we could think of, but the jewel in the eye of man's accomplishments has been shattered. Arcworld Citadel, a machine in the heart of the country's capitol and supplied the world power, has been turned to ruin.

Now comes the rise of the Gadgeteer. Those folk whom invent new ways to move the machines that settle their worlds. Scientists, Tinkers, and Inventors have becomes the men of power, and life continues on.

But the stories of the Golem's Heart, the greatest acheivement of man still linger, and now adventurers have begun tempting fate as they race towards the most important relic in exsistance...

Characters:

The world of the Gadgeteer has three races, and numberous classes.

The Races-

Human- The major bulk of the thinking races, the human is your everyman. You can be any class or profession. Humans are somewhat more frail then the other races and holds the least physical fitness.
Mechanics- Born of accident or nicessity, some humans find themselves in need to be better with machines of their world. Sometimes this fetish for devices forms in removing vital limbs or organs and replacing them with mechanical ones.
Androids- Intelligent machines, the andriod community came into being after cogwork production became recreational activities. Built originally to be servants and love bots, the cognitive android began to form their own nitches in society. They are much heavier then humans, and prone to electrocution, but are tougher then any other thinking race.

Classes-

The classes of the world are an immense as any world can be. Find a nitch and fill it never meant so much as finding your specialties in a world where being able to build gives you wealth, power, and status. But, here are some classes that would function in this world..

Gearjack- Some make their living by creating devices, the Gearjacks make their living by stealing these devices. Ready to break any lockout, reprogram any cogwork, or just simply picking up the device and running for the nearest exit.
Gearjacks always carry devices to allow for quick climbing, stealth, and other nicessities to burgle.
Gadgeteer- The overall term for any inventor in the world. It branches into specialty technologies, but for the most part they work on their projects and sell their wears. They usually are seen with multi-lensed goggles, tool belts, and devices crowding their person doing numberous things to aid him in his work.
Electrochemist- Gadgeteers who focus solely on power. They find new ways to store and generate juice. Most sell their juice to power folks belongings and even some of the lesser andriods, but there are the occasional battle ready ones who spend their time builting devices to attack with electricity.
Harlot- harlots are school trained consorts that practice fine arts, practical seduction, and physical desire. They also learn deplomacy, Subterfuge, and assassination. Usually their skills are bought for highest bidder, or missions that tend to never last more then a night.
Big Gear Hunters- Large fighters, weilding large weapons. They carry chainsaws, pneumatic hammers and other powerful weapons and hunt malfunctioning machines or the occasional bounty on a rogue andriod or mechanic.

I'm sure others can be thought of, and it's free to use these, or invent your own class, thought try to keep it in the genre of the story.

Post your characters here if interested, or pm them to me. I'll open the rp once I have enough players.

Name: Edward Lafiette
Race: Human
Class: Electrochemist
-------------------
Age: 23
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 128 lb. (193 with pack)
-------------------

Personality: Edward is a curious man who lives his life day to day. He enjoys good company, and all around merriment, but gets serious when something he cares about gets damaged. He loved a strong drink on occasion, and chose to be a freelance Electrochemist simply because it ment being free to sell his juice to barter as he travels about the land.

Biography: Edward was the son of a wealthy merchant in Arcworld, but left on caravan when he was a child. He spent his youth wanting to grow up to be like his father, untill he became old enough to learn of the hassle of being a merchant. He changed his feild of study from economics to electrochemistry to impress a female andriod, but she fused with someone else leaving him saddened.
He learned of the trade quite readily, and found he had a thrill of electricity that could not be satiated. This thrill lead him to design his suit for use in storms to gather concintrated juice from storms using a small, one man balloon.
He's been sitting about Rustwrench City for the last three years, making small deals and enjoying his time at the pub. Though he's wishing for so much more now...

Gear: A faraday shield suit, battery pack and terminal staff. He also keeps a small taser at his side.

. . .

Ok, I just got things hinted at by a veteran rper here, and this is what I've learned. I am not good at constructed story set-ups. I was looking at this very much like, as example, a new D&D campaign.
I usually run things as a flexable Dungeon Master, creating the story and basics out of what I learn from the players, their characters, and their styles of interests. This appearently is wrong..
I had created game elements, and a small first post putting the tavern in place for the group to begin populating. You know that there is a treasure, but I didn't say we had to follow it.
But, in constructed storytelling, the main poster creates the plot and the others trail behind adding depth and flavor, but if it's designed they need fight the big bad, that's where they are going, kicking and screaming.

Allow me to reconstruct this faux pas, I'll explain the setting a bit further...

The Plot: There is in the world a treasure that if found could be used to do great good, or sold for kingdoms and power. The group, either singularly or collectively is after it. Why they are is their own focus, either for their government, after an other player, whatever.
Originally I was planning on just setting up the characters, and put people in roles, but free will fuels creativity. No one bonds to a character they have no purchase in.
