Gel Mattresses

You think getting up your stairs is hard now? Wait until you get to my age. You're still a young pup.

I didn't even know gel was a thing. I have a wool mattress that has a latex core which I love. It's not 'cooling' per se, but definitely not hot in summer. (I have a real aversion to synthetic stuff in my bed.) However, I'm beginning to suspect it's not great for my back.

If the heat thing is related to hot flashes etc, have you tried magnesium? I started taking it at the beginning of the year, and it's really helped. Also makes me less stabby, which is a bonus. (Well, a bonus for everyone else.)

I didn't either til yesterday. Nah, I'm very hot blooded. Ffs if I got hot flushes I'd combust.

My stabby is reaching its limits. I may check out Magnesium.

Huh. I do a third-floor walk up every day and my stairways are fairly wide...I never think about stairs being a chore unless I'm over a friend's apartment and they're in a classic pre-war six floor walk-up. Then I count my blessings! :D

I do envy those living the elevator life sometimes, tho'.

and I could use some new pillows, too. Been getting a lot of adverts for intelligent design cube pillows on Instagram lately.

I got a Purple mattress about a year and a half ago. Its wonderful. There's the grid deal on the top that kind of conforms to you body and feels kind of like floating. I'm not sure if they sell them in the UK, but if they do, consider it.

As you can imagine, it gets bloody hot here. I use a blanket during the winter, but most of the year I sleep in me birthday suit with sheets only. Cotton sheets. When it's really hot I set the aircon at around 18-20 degrees on night mode, so I can barely hear it, and I shower right before bed. Sometimes I shower 4-5 times a day. I like to hop under the water and cool down and get out. I find I'm a lot more comfortable that way. But everyone has their own way. You have to find what works for you.

Pics or it didn't happen.

I have a Lucid gel memory foam mattress. It's medium firmness and it's the best. It actually does sleep cooler, too.

We bought a Sleep Number bed a few years ago. It was fucking expensive as fuck, but it's the best fucking money I've ever spent! However, when you put it on super soft, it can feel like you're on a deflating air mattress. Which isn't all bad. You can buy a cooling topper for it. I have yet to invest, but I'm getting pretty close.
