Gluten free saturday!

My daughter is autistic. Putting her on the diet helped change her immensely literally in two weeks.

Fortunately, she was never fond of condiments because, besides not being able to eat bread products, you also can't have ketchup, mustard, or anything else that's vinegar-based.

Have you had her tested for yeast?

The problem is that allergy tests didn't really reveal anything... it's just that her temperament changed so much.

That was a few years back... she's 5 now and eating a more 'normal' diet... there's no way we could keep her away from ice cream now. LOL

Ice cream is yummy. I understand what a fight that could be.

I asked because the link between yeast concentration in children's feces and the link with autistic behavior. I've been reading a lot on the subject. It's said to cause brain fog. We have been working through a set of dietary issues. It seems the process food was hurting my son.

Yeah, when my daughter was four I went to pick her up from sundayschool, and her teacher said 'she was doing fine, 'til snack time and after that she started climbing the walls'. Literally as we spoke, my daughter was running in circles around his, manically. I asked what they'd had for snack and they'd only had saltines and water, so I started considering that maybe she was gluten intolerant. Then a few weeks later she had to be babysat, and the babysitter told me, in not so many words, that if beth didn't stop being such a bitch she wouldn't sit anymore. I took her off gluten, the sitter watched her a week later, and was AMAZED at the change in her attitude.
