I would imagine there are at least a handful of Republican senators kicking themselves today for not having taken that stand with Romney on Wednesday. I wonder how close Lamar Alexander came to it. He was called early in the rollcall. If he'd had the guts to do it, which wouldn't be all that hard since he's already announced his retirement, I wonder how many others would have taken the plunge. All this needs is for some of them to group together and stand up to the mentally damaged bully.

Most people misunderstood what Adam Schiff was trying to do in his compelling closing argument at the trial when he talked about the impact that a "single" person can make. They assumed that Schiff was actually trying to achieve a 2/3 vote for conviction, but he understood that was never going to happen, just because of the nature of the Deplorable cult.

What Schiff was really trying to do was appeal to the last scraps of integrity left in the Republican Party, so that Trump would not get his wish of claiming that his acquittal was bipartisan. Romney was that last scrap of integrity left in the Party.
