I see today that the Lit Deplorables, having become totally bankrupt of arguments to defend Trump's conspiracy theories about Ukrainian/Democrat operatives, are back to picking on Greta again.

It makes sense for them to lurch from Trump's deep state conspiracy theories to the one about climate science being a hoax.

...and there's nothing funnier than half-wits taking the pronouncements of a 16-year old female seriously, especially when that 16-year old has been brainwashed by crackpot parents and adults into embracing a demonstrably fantastic and palpably untrue set of beliefs.​

^^^This is another way that people attack Greta in particular and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction in general. They love to call GHG reduction activists "hypocrites" if they still travel by jets or still depend on grid power.

Another similar attack has to do with people ascribing a zero-fossil-fuel scenario to anyone who supports significantly reducing GHG emissions. This is an equally extreme "straw soldier" argument where the attacker uses an extreme position to claim that shifting our energy portfolio and conservation habits to significantly reduce GHG emissions will "send us back to the Stone Age".

The big changes will come at the national level, when policies are put into place that incentivize replacing GHG emitting energy sources (especially coal and oil) with non- or low- GHG emitting energy sources and incentivize energy conservation. This requires leaders who actually understand the problem and are willing to do something about it.

Individuals can make a difference. I reduced my own home energy usage to less than $30 per month on a 40 acre farm, just by using solar to heat water and produce electricity and by super-insulating my home.

But big progress requires action at the national energy policy level. Greta and other activists are working at that level and at the international level, while her detractors are often working at the petty argument level of tired old talking points.
