To add onto this, we could make it multiple villians, or a disaster that threatens a multitude of people. Maybe a world leader calls on the heroes to help battle a threat(aliens, villian uprising, evil mutant uprising, amizonian rain forest cannibals, etc) and we all meet in a centralized place for the first time.

Power: Peak human athletic capabilities, genius intellect, trained in multiple forms of armed and unarmed combat, a skilled tracker, hacking skills, highly skilled in covert operations, stealth, and lock picking.
Identity: Technically secret, but she makes no real effort to maintain it.
Years Active: 15
History: Amber Montoya is the daughter of the Hero Prodigy, though he never knew about her until just before his death. She was conceived through artificial insemination as part of a plan that eventually succeeded in killing him. Her mother was the villainess known as Killswitch.
She was raised to go into the "family business" by her mother and many others. She'd taken after her father in that she was a savant. She learned like a sponge, mastering fighting styles at an insane rate. Learning anything she set her mind to in a fraction of the time it took others, she was well on her way to becoming what her mother wanted.
Until puberty set in. And true to form it hit early, and hard. Most children rebelled by acting out but not Amber. She knew her mother was hoping for that, that it would make her even more like her mother. No, Amber rebelled by becoming a "good girl". No more manipulating the other kids as her mom had taught her to. No more cheating or breaking rules.
It infuriated her mother to no end. It made her so mad she decided it was time to break the girl. It was time for Amber to learn what she really was. Killswitch "leaked" the information of Amber's heritage into the Hero community and as expected The Prodigy took the bait.
The hero found his daughter and fell into Killswitch's trap. At the moment Prodigy went to embrace his daughter Killswitch shot him three times in the chest and restrained Amber, making her watch as her father died.
Afterwards Amber got away and assisted Ground Zero in the capture and conviction of her mother. She was offered a place among the heroes but passed on it saying she didn't want to be the team's "mascot".
The truth of the matter was that Amber couldn't join the team because she had one last issue to deal with and it couldn't be done in a crowd of super heroes. She used her mother's own resources and made all the arrangements. That one long cold night two years into her sentence Killswitch was murdered in a prison riot. Her murderer had looked her in the eyes as she lay bleeding out and said "Amber sends her regards." Killswitch smiled as she died.
Since then Amber has vanished and the bounty huntress called Bounty has tracked and brought in contracts. Super villains have something to fear in the night now.
