Guess the 10 states w lowest life expectancy

If the probability of making either list is the same for either a Republican or a Democrat State...0.5...a flip of a coin...then the probability of 10 States on either list being from the same political party would be (0.5)^10. But you have 2 lists...wanna take a guess what that probability would be?

These things are pretty much always bogus because of who gets to define the metrics.

They do not tell you a thing and most states are basically rural red and big-city blue.

Shall we look at the median household income between the two? Or how about...which of these states have more outdoor toilets per capita? Or are you just grabbing at straws?

See, it's a game of metrics.

For example: Median household income is a meaningless metric unless it is weighted by cost of living.

The implication that longer life expectancy somehow equates to intellectual or cultural superiority is gross and racist. Be better.

Really, interesting.

Do you know that every white baby girl ever born also drank milk?:D

Do you know that every white baby girl ever born has shit in their pants?

That you are so interested in all these common facts...awesome!!!

She indulged in the "glittering generalities" fallacy Que don't see much of anymore.;)

No she wasn't. she was trying to point out to you that this thread was doing exactly that. Is she inarticulate? indisputably. Is she wrong? not when you look at her underlying point which is correlation does not equal causation.

Prove it isn't a result of choices the people in the State made. They made choices that benefit their lives.

Again...math...if there was no difference...the probability of a state making a list is 0.5. A flip of a coin. Because each choice is an independent event....then the probability of obtaining a list with 10 Republican or 10 Democrat led states would be (0.5)^10.= 0.0001 or 0.01%. It can happen. Flip a coin 10 times until you get 10 heads in a row. But it is RARE. Now do it 20 times...and get 10 heads in a row and then 10 tails in a row. That is what you are arguing against.

The kids seats are over there>>>>>

First off, the burden is on the party asserting. Secondly, lets look at further information of the same sort also devoid of the context necessary. The two democratic bastions in Pennsylvania, Allegheny and Philadelphia Counties, have lower life expectancy overall then the state. Further, the mere fact of differing life expectancy is not an indicator of wise life choices, because if it was then Asian women would have to be lauded as the wisest people in America because they have the longest life expetancy. That's fucking racist. So take your kids seat comment and shove it up your ass.

These are the bottom 10 states:
Missouri
South Carolina
Arkansas
Oklahoma
Louisiana
Tennessee
Kentucky
Alabama
Mississippi
West Virginia

Many of Lit's racist trolls are from these states.

I did prove it. It is Probability. It is taught in every introductory Stat class.

I know it is over your head. Always has been....always will be.

There are 2 choices...you make a list....you do not. It is a random event. The probability is 0.5

Because each choice is random...and independent...the probabilities of successive choices are multiplied...hence 0.5 raised to the tenth power.

This is a fact. Can't be disputed.

But here we have 2 lists that goes against what probability says should happen. Why? Obviously...the probability of making each list was not 0.5. So then you look at what the list was...being a state where people live longer. So, Democrat led states...for whatever reason...have a higher probability of making the list of longer life expectancy...and Republican led states have a higher probability of making the list of lower life expectancy.

Again...this can't be debated...there is the data. Freely available to anyone from the CDC's website. 10 Republican led states made the list for shortest life expectancy...10 Democrat led states made the list for longest life expectancy.

Your attempted diversion by stating County effects don't matter. They were ALREADY factored into the State effect.

If you've actually taken a stats class you know that correlation isn't causation, and that looking at this one factor like it is a cause is ridiculous. I'm a democrat. I'm also not in favor of this kind of sloppy eugenicist thinking "one data point devoid of context supports my theory that my tribe is the best". That's fucking sloppy at best and usually evil.

I knew Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana would be three of the worst. It's like they were designed to fail.

Now...I actually have a theory as to why this happened. I have lived in many states...Democrat and Republican led. There is no doubt the economics are worse in Republican states. Again...data doesn't lie. But does this result in shorter lifespans? It could...but I am going to assume it doesn't and go deeper. There is also no doubt Republican led states tend to have less environmental regulation...for example mining waste dumping into drinking supplies...could this result in shorter lifespans? Of course, but again, I will assume it doesn't. So what else could be a dominant factor effecting these results?

Smoking. The proportion of young smokers...relative to the whole is greater in Republican led states. Again...this is a fact...the data is freely available. Just as the proportion of drug use. Just as the proportion of where people refuse to wear masks. Now...let's add in the obvious... people making poorer choices live in Republican led states. Why? Education? Social normalities? Doesn't matter...the facts remain...they do.

Hate to tell you....there was no correlation in the data

And you are a liar...you do not vote Democrat. That is obvious

It's like you're speaking english without even knowing what the words mean. the correllation is democrat led and longer life expetancy. that's the fucking correllation and that's what you're drawing as being causitive. jesus fucking christ.

Wrong. That is an inference.

I do vote democrat, because I'm queer, pro woman, pro social safety net, and anti-oligarch. That doesn't mean I have to be comfortable being in the same block as people that ascribe to this kind of quasi-religious bullshit. I can vote with you and be ashamed of you all at once. These aren't mutually exclusive states. I can be at once grateful that your idiocy steered you my direction instead of the other on voting day and still hold you in personal contempt.

Is that you Que? Cool. You always have hated me.glad to see you back. Then I do understand why you could vote Democrat and I would be wrong. But I am not wrong with the math...or the theory

The mutual exclusiveness has nothing to do with states...or regions of states...it has to do with the selection process...the flip of a coin. Is it heads...is it tails. Does a state make a list...does it not.

I'm not who you think I am. Honestly I don't actually hate you but I do hate when we as the left engage in sloppy arguments and sloppy thinking because it leaves us vulnerable. There's plenty of good reasons to vote Dem. Let's focus on those.
