With a smack Lance was thrown across the room. The blow from the dragon knocking him hard against the far wall. He shook off the blow as the priest's healing dulled his pain. He charged the dragon as hard as he could and swung his blade. The dragon shrieked and flapped its wings, knocking her foes away from her.
"Come on, die you bitch." Ken spat into his mic.
The dragon's health hit zero and collapsed. The entire ten man team, with nuts into their mics. Ken clapped his hands as he watched the dragon on his computer screen die. The guild he was in called Nevermore had been fighting this damn dragon for weeks and finally defeated it tonight.
He moved his warrior Guile over to the corpse and looked at the loot. He swore as the item he had hoped for wasn't on the list. Over the headset he heard Egwyne giggle happily.
For three years Ken and Egwyne had played this game together, moving from their original guild Yahoo's into Nevermore to see endgame content. They had a nice online friendship. Though he had never met Egwyne in person or even knew her real name, he felt that they had a good chemistry together. They shared jokes, real life problems, advice, and anything else with one another.
Egwyne giggled and equipped her new healing staff that had been on the bosses list.
Ken groaned, "I'm never going to replace this stupid shield."
"You need to Ken, it's getting tough to heal you in these harder fights. That or gem for some midigation." Egwyne said.
"Hey I'm not making the game not drop my gear."
After loot was passed out, everyone else in the raid group said goodnight. Ken and Egwyne moved it their own channel as usual for their after raid hangouts. Often they just bullshited while enchanting their new items or farming idly for gold in the game.
Ken never expected Egwyne to say she wanted to meet him. "You live in Santa Monica right?" She asked.
"Yeah why?"
"I'm going to the Art insititute next semester out there. I was thinking....I dunno, we've played together for a long time and I thought it might be nice to maybe meet for coffee or something."
Ken blinked and stared at his screen in silence for a long time. "Yeah, that'd be...cool." He tried to sound happy, but not overly excited at the same time. Egwyne had a pretty sounding voice, but he always assumed she was just a fat homely chick who couldn't get a real date on a friday night so she spent it in a video game.
Not to mistake him, he liked Egwyne as a voice and a fellow gamer. He just couldn't put a body to the girl. It would be awkward to actually meet with her and see who was behind the sexy little elf she played.
Even still he agreed to meet Egwyne just before her first semester at the Art Institute began. He gave her his phone number and realized that he still didn't know her real damn name.
