You can get rid off all the guns and there will still be chain saws, axes, sledge hammers, steel pipes, swords, knives, assorted heavy rocks, blow guns, bow and arrow, and enough explosive material around to destroy a building. Dead is pretty much dead no matter how you look at it. And the criminal element can acquire guns no matter how difficult you make it for law abiding citizens to purchase them.

For every 4 gun killings in the US, there are 2 that don't involve guns. South Africa's non-gun killing rate is almost 8 times greater than the US total murder rate. When you can convince me I'm safer by not owning guns than I'll turn them in.

Did I miss something?

Is there some rampant liberal mob going around forcibly removing guns from law-abiding citizens? Is Congress writing an amendment to rescind the Second Amendment? Why are people obsessed with this topic right now?

For now liberal candidates for president cannot speak their minds on this issue and get elected. But if you think it's not their agenda to outlaw guns then you are only kidding yourself.

You didnt miss anything Mishy Masher,...they are always obsessed with this.

:p

Exactly. Stronger gun control laws make it easier for "average, everyday citizens" to become victims. Do you really think that robbers, rapists, and murderers wait that day or two or whatever period before buying a registered hand gun from a shop? Yeah right! Get real.

Who's kidding whom? The President doesn't write the laws, nor does he pass amendments. If guns will ever be outlawed (which I seriously doubt), it will have to be through a mandate through Congress. Geez, the conservatives have a lot of conspiracists in their ranks. Watch out, those liberals are trying to take away all your rights...

aww, and I thought you were going to address the Second Amendment issue that Mischka claims will protect my rights.

Where are you quoting from? And what is the point? I don't understand.

Why bother Dommy

and I will only be trying to illuminate the intent of the intent of the second amendment,,.,but the only ones that will agree are those that I am preaching to the choir about.

It's your civic duty to educate us on the subject. And if a left leaning supreme court interpreted the 2nd amendment the way you see it couldn't guns be outlawed?

NO, only way an amendment can be repealed is by vote

:p

Pom poms? Is this part of your act for the talent part of the auction?

That brings me to 250!!! :D :D :D :D And since I'm not being auctioned, that means I can concentrate on spending my points. Woohoo!!

Yes Ma'am, I'm aware of that. My question is couldn't the intent of the 2nd amendment be interpreted differently by a liberal leaning court?

I just don't have a lot of confidence in courts after the Floridia Supreme Court tried to give the election to Gore.

Guns will not be criminalized, by a "liberal" Supreme Court or by any other. There's too much money being made, too many corporations who would not allow that to happen.

Free Speech, on the other hand, is not a commodity bought & sold. The current administration and the right-wing Supreme Court have made it very clear that they do not believe that pornography is Constitutionally-protected.

To worry about some far-future "wacko liberal" Supreme Court (as though it might just suddenly turn leftist out of the blue any second) banning guns yet at the same time turning a blind eye while a right-leaning Supreme Court has an eye on overturning Miller v. California and broadening the definition of obscenity to include anything they find offensive is absurd. The government shouldn't tell me I can't own a gun, but it can tell me what I can think & say? IMHO, the First Amendment is just as important as the Second, and it's the one that's under attack. If you're truly concerned with protecting our Constitutionally-guaranteed rights, then you'd be more worried about the very real COPA law - aka Ashcroft v. the ACLU - than some silly made-up Limbaugh-written scenario.

I believe in all rights - the right to free speech, the right to own a gun, a woman's right to choose...and I'm a little tired of people who defend the Second Amendment like it's sacrosanct yet slash away at the others like they don't matter. You're either pro-Freedom, or you're not.

I've had an interesting couple of days! Anyone want to hear my kitty rescue story?

I wouldn't go into hysteria yet. The left screamed if Ashcroft was confirmed birth control and roe v wade would be stomped down with nazi boots.

It's interesting that you cry out for government controls on other industries, but are appalled that those with different opinions might be concerned about your minor "honor policy"

The difference Dommy is

that it is industries vs. personal rights.

I think that changes the view just a bit.

And you really believe that this isn't an industry?
