Gundam: OOC

although something that seems to elude me at the moment because i never had the money to buy the original 0079 series and the movies, I remember there being an acronym on the RX79-2 that Amuro saw when he turned the thing on. Although I've been looking for it online, people are saying that it's only from Seed, and I really distinctly remember that there was this acronym that partially described what was so special about the Gundam system. All i remember about it though was that it was an AI system that got better I guess you could say every time it was used.

Well, you learn something everyday. I'll be sure to file that little tidbit away in the "Random mecha trivia" section.

well that's what made the gundam so powerful was the fact that it was a self learning system that would get better with use, like the targetting system got more accurate as it was used more, and that was why Amuro was able to fight Char on almost even footing near the end.

Well to be more correct it wasn't just the targeting systems, everything including manuevering, and defense. The gundam was originally designed so that it would store the data from every battle and it would become more deadly by learning from each battle. Which probably makes Amuro's RX78 one of the more powerful suits around just because of how many battles it went through. It's not as new or updated as some of the others but since it has a lot of battle data it should do its job better to a certain degree.

Right. That's kinda like saying a gun got more accurate with every use. A gun can do a lot of damage when it hits something, but unless the person pulling the trigger knows what he's doing, it's not likely to be of much help.

Well, I must be off. Good night.

I don't recall the acronym.

As I recall it Amuro Ray was a tech nerd. After each battle he went into the system and manually reprogrammed it to be better. But I haven't watched it in a long time.

i would like to play maybe we could have a parts list and points system or something so peopel dont make uber powerful gundam in the second seed they kind of got overpowere

no, that was what they did in Seed, to simulate the gundam's natural learning process, they replaced newtypes with coordinators, and in Seed, the gundam was merely a complicated machine and Kira would reprogram the gundam during and after battles to make it work better.

Yes but he only did that in the first episode.

In the orginal he updates just before the gauff is introduced. Then he gets his butt kicked by the fast acting gauff then he updates again. I believe updates a third time before/ after the three Ric Doms.

Any how it left me to believe he updated the gundams reactions and targeting as Zeon passed out more and more new units.

Seems like a complicated idea. Amc said he wants us to aim low on the powercurve and then update much like many of the series. That would mean begin as death scythe and then become death scythe 2 in the corase of the story. Start as GPO 1 and then become GPO 3, (which reminds me, Don does GPO 2 have a nuke?) So we are forbiden from having the Zero System, the built in New Type of the Blue Destiny, or the massivly massivly overpowered Devil Gundam.

yeah the GP02 is a different suit entirely and yes you're right it was the one with the nuke that Solomon stole, that one never got updated. However the GP01 was updated a couple of times, and the GP03 is also a different suit. At the end of the series I believe Uraki does switch into the GP03 though (not sure, I haven't seen 0083 in a long time). Although he used the GP01 initially and had it updated for space combat because the original design couldn't handle space combat due to the fact that it didn't use maneuvering jets.

Oh good I remembered correctly.

Any how different suite or not its moving to an upgrade.

although most suit upgrades from what i remember were just to make them spaceworthy or to switch into a better version, (i could be wrong) at least in the Universal Century timeline, in some of the alternate universe stories it's a bit different.

I think you largly hit the nail on the head.

My plan here is to make a custum non-gundam and then work my way to a gundam.

i think we should have like 5 base suits and each person can upgrade customize or evolve it there own way

I'm out for now sorry =(
Real life has come up and I haven't had any time to work on this =(
So sorry guys good luck

Hi,

I'd seen this thread a while ago, but.... kinda forgot to post in it until it tickled my mind

Is anyone still interested in a Gundam RPG?
I actually ran a PbP RPG Gundam board for a little while, though it died when I got involved with a number of other projects
So seeing a gundam RPG has brought up some nostalgia for it...

If you can commit to running it, meaning don't disappear for days, weeks, or months at a time without fair warning, and will also produce a decent story line with plot, and a few other things that can be worked out later, I'm still interested.

Well, I usually pop into lit at least once a day
I'd probably ressurect my old storyline (though... one has been rattling around in my head recently.....)

See if anyone else is interested before I go nuts on it

If it doesn't involve G gundam I may be game.

Hate G Gundam as a rule, and it would never involve itself in a central plot.
But, if someone wants to use a character and one of the non-idiotic Gundams, I have no problems....

Its Devil Gundam is way, way to fetched for me. And the series is farfetched to begin with.

If you have read "Gurps Mecha," they explain the situation very well. You have 3 power levels. Realistic, Cenimatic, and Overtop. The first gundam is Realistic were everything has quasi science suport. Wing is Cenimatic, most things could happen but the Zero system and Buster Riffle could not, and finaly G Gundam is over the top with everything being more about art then science or probability.

Actually, The idea of the DG cells as a group of Nano machines with a quasi-sentient progamming and a really bad attitude is a bit of fun to play with. Badly stereotypic Gundam-ish mecha fighting on earth for "control" of floating chuncks of rock.... not so much.

But, then again, some parts were no worse than the "moon moon" colony from Turn A or the Aztec Ninjas from Double Zeta....

Every series has something that makes you cringe....

Or... the whole series (Destiny)

Didn't see zeta or turna.

DG, concept is fine just not tech aproperiate for the setting. Abilities really is what bugs me. Zombie armies and coppies. (Regeneration I am fine with)

Joys of running fan stuff: You can conviently ignore the crap :D

I've seen every animated series (well, I haven't finished Double Zeta... as 00 came out...) and am pretty knowledgable/geek

I support dubing and Television. If its out in english on tv I'll watch.
