Camille, nice picture of the River Walk in San Antonio, but you are right, it's really more of a ditch. The city of San Antonio has to pump water into the river basin to keep the water levels up, and when it rains, they have bypass channels to keep the rain water out of the basin.

If you ever want to come back to Texas, i will happily be your guide.

I don't know what you mean by "specific meaning," but where I live "down east" is a colloquial expression for eastern NC. The phrase was used in a post to another North Carolinian, who knew exactly what I meant. If the words are trademarked, please let me know and I will refrain from using them.

Transplanted or not (and right now I'm not), I think my accent is here to stay. As horrible as it is, it's me!

If I had only know! I needed a tour guide. I never even got too off the Riverwalk.

I hope I can get back to TX sometime soon. Great place.
