any other board and this question might be a little embarassing!

hair removal downstairs....for example along the skin of the shaft.

whats the best method?

I've heard to stay the hell away from the hair removal creams.

and using a razor seems a little risky.

and i DONT want the hair to be growing back thicker!

any help would be appreciated.

my bf uses a regular shaving razor, you just have to be very careful and make sure you pull the skin so that it is taught, and use as little strokes of the razor as possible.

eek!

im still a little scared, but if thats the only way around it, i guess i'll have to grin and bear it!

Do a search in this forum for "Magic" -- a reference to Magic Shave(tm) cream. There are several current and past Literoticans who use it for removal of hair on and around the penis and testicles. In other words, not all hair removal creams are equal and SOME are mild enough to use on the genital area. It all depends on how sensitive your skin is, so do the recommended patch test first and be cautious.

Of course if your bank account can take it, there's always Laser or Electrolysis for permanent hair removal anywhere on the body.

Waxing is another possibility, but not one I'd personally consider for that area.

Permanent removal

Be warned about laser and electrolysis. For laser the FDA allows them to say permanent because it lasts more than 6 months or something like that. It does grow back!
I was getting electrolysis for a while, 1 it is hard to find someone that will do it there and 2 it takes MANY treatments to get it to go away. The lady that was doing mine said the genital area takes the most time for the hair to stop growing, then said something about the amount of testosterone there. I don't know.
It can be a messy proceedure, she said most of the men she saw, leaked and were hard most of the time wich made it more difficult for her. She said they would leak pre-cum from the moment she started the session.
It can be expensive also I was paying $1 a minute. I got a bit of a discount if I went over an hour though.
It does hurt a little bit, not bad though, I really kind of liked it.

HTH,
Shawn

Heh...all I know is Nair for sensitive skin...isn't for my sensitive skin...A Johnny Cash song pretty much sums it up...and by the time that 'burning ring of fire' is noticed...it's too late...too late. :)

Shaving...razor burn...and the thought of just one nick...*shudders*

I guess I will just have to let mine be until I can find some of that Magic that everyone talks about...the stores here don't carry it...but time changes things.

I can tell you I would NEVER let that electrolysis needle anywhere near my personal bits! I've had electrolysis, and it is definitely not painless. Plus the hair does grow back, and on me, it left scarring. No thanks.

just use a semi dull razor and make sure the skin is taut, cold water unfortunantly makes it easier i find

i actually use my GF's venus (female moch3) down there. its MUCH more smooth and FAR less painful. Since i started using that, i now have no problems shaving down there, as apposed to my old hatred for it.

Trimmed not shaved?

Any suggestions on methodology or equipment if you just want to make things a little more regular and shapely?

All of the above apply to shaving part of the area as well as shaving all of it.

I would add that a beard trimmer with a depth guard would work well for geting a consistent length on what you leave behind. Also, a pair of Embroidery Scissors are handy for trimming where precision is of concern -- they're small, easy to manever in close confines and designed to cut close to the surface.

Nobody has mentioned electric wet/dry shavers in this thread -- they might not shave as close as a blade, but they're defintely the safest option for areas where cuts aren't a possibility to consider.

I just used ordinary razors, they were all the same in my experience, didn't matter what type of razor I used. The testicles were the hardest to shave in my opinion.

Electric shavers I've found to pull and pinch a lot more and to me are quite painful. For regular shaving I just use a single blade disposable or my Mach 3 with water and I just make sure I"m hard before I do it, cuts down on having loose skin for nicks. As far as trimming, I used to use a beard trimmer without a guard, damn do those nicks hurt for a moment or two, bleed pretty bad too. Now I have a trimmer with a guard, much nicer. Only downside I've seen is that going bare on the scrotum makes it a little "stickier/moister" down there and they stick to my legs.

Where to find the magic hair removal cream? I've had absolutely no luck finding it....where are the best places b/c I want to try it.

It's made and marketed for black men, so it's usually in the "Ethnic Hair Care Section."

My local Walgreen Drugs has it in the "Shaving Needs" section, as do the local Walmart stores.

Most stores near me carry it, but then I'm in an area with a significant black population.

I don't know what chain stores abound in "Ohioish" but most any drug store or department chain store should carry it -- or at least be able to order it.

I made the mistake of using Nair before...did I mention the word mistake??? never again! Never EVER!!!! I would rather sandpaper a bobcats butt in a phone booth than use nair. I use a beard trimmer... doesn't get it snin close but it works for me.
