Has anyone here had their fifteen minutes yet?

The time of fame was measured in seconds.

Someone I didn't know asked me to autograph a copy of my textbook on Computer Security.

The glow - ah, the glow lasted for days ....

My favorite brush with fame was when the movie Canonball Run II was filmed in Tucson Arizona.

I got to be an extra in one scene.

(The one where the old lady drives through the front window of a store,)

I hit a bottom of the ninth Grand Slam to win a ball game. Maybe a thousand people knew about it, either there or listening on the radio.

My first at bat the next day I got drilled in the ribs. It hurt for like two weeks.

So you Derek Jeter or Jason Giambi???

Other than a picture on the front page of the Honolulu Advertiser, somewhere in the 60's for picketing the Federal Building in opposition to Medicare...and again for marching counterclockwise in support of the Vietnam War, with several thousand marching in the opposite direction....

Oh, yeah, I ran for President of the United States in 1976, for the American Mandate Party...but you most likely wouldn't believe that anyway...

...not that it matters...

I went to work to find out my Union's labor negotiations had broken down and we were on strike. I picked up a picket sign.

A photo of me at the head of the picket line appeared on the front page of the paper the next day.

The wire services picked it up. An executive later told me he knew his vacation was over when he saw my mug on the front page of the London Times.

and Ted... Elle is Aussie (there's hope for me yet LOL)
There is something about Aussie girls!

Elle is beyond perfection--she must be a space alien or something. Years ago she was July in the Sports Illustrated calendar. It remained July in my house for many, many months.

lol carl my so called fame was a brief stint of modeling overseas and a few spots in fashion week in nyc, didn't care for being a model one bit but it was a good experience.

I've had my picture in our paper a couple of times, but it was all when I was a kid. When I was three I won a beauty pagent, when I was in 8th grade, I placed in a state wide math competition. Also in 8th grade, I won the regional spelling bee. In high school, I had my picture plus a short bio in the newspaper for graduating 3rd in my class. And in college, I had a letter to the editor printed in the school newspaper.

Oh, I was also on the local news (2 or 3 different stations) while in high school. Our school was starting a Just Say No type club and I got picked to be shot coming out of the bathroom holding my pee in a cup. They also did an on camera interview with me.

Can you guys all send me your autographs before you become famous?

You could be worth millions one day :D

I get told to get out of the way whenever the TV crews are around.

They don't have spare ciggies either.

I was on TV for a couple of seconds once. It's the overseas phoenix channel for Chinese new year and the British Chinese New Year festival here in Cambridge. I was performing in one of the bits (singing---no idea why, I can't sing to save my life.) As part of the New Year across Europe thing (or something like that) phoenix TV did a slide show of pictures. They used the gig that I was in to represent Cambridge. I think that was two years ago. There's a girl I knew who, a couple of years ago, got hit by a car. The paper ran it as 'girl gets hit by car as she picks up books' but in fact, she'd just walked across without looking.

My dad's been in the news a few times. He was on British news about ten years ago, when Princess Diana went to the laboratory where he worked. He's still got pictures of her and stuff. The funny thing is, he rubbed his nose when he was on TV (a source of amusement to the whole family for many years). He's been on Chinese TV and various Chinese websites/newspapers/magazines etc. (and British ones too, come ot think of it) as part of his work.
